Sabrina Bryan on Last Dance: ‘I Was Freaking Out a Little’

October 31, 2007

Regarded as the season five front-runner, Sabrina Bryan was eliminated in what DWTS fans are calling the most shocking results show ever. After a tough week in which the Cheetah Girl had to learn two numbers, here’s what she said about her final performance:

On learning two dances in one week: We got a chance to be rockers for the group dance number. Mentally, it was a little bit tough because we were going at such a rapid speed. I was learning the fox trot and I’d be fine and then he’d take me back to the first part of it and I wouldn’t remember it. It was hard for me to retain it. I was freaking out a little.

On getting ready for the fox trot: Mark [Ballas] wanted to do a whole elegant, classic look and he told me that he wanted my hair simple. He didn’t want anything funky with it. He wanted it nice and clean. Mark had the idea of bringing in velvet, which was actually the first time on DWTS.

On handling stress: When I am stressed my No. 1 reliever is my music. I have crazy, crazy psycho music. I’ve got house music. I’ve got slow—I call it AM motivation music for when you wake up in the morning and you just need calm. No one else can talk and you just want to listen to music and have sssshhhh time.

On what she’s taking from her DWTS experience: Every minute and every memory I’m taking with me. I’m just pulling this into my heart and capturing it. I’m never going to let it go. I had such an amazing time with Mark. It’s not the end for us. It’s not like, “Peace out, Dog. It was great!” It’s not like that at all! The friendships—Melanie B. and Jennie [Garth] are my girls! I love them.

Partner Mark Ballas on Sabrina: I’m so grateful to have been here all this time. I’ve loved every minute dancing with Sabrina. I love her. We’ve had a blast. I’m sad I won’t get to see her tomorrow. Maybe we’ll go to Coffee Bean?

(Sabrina nods with approval.) —Monica Rizzo

I have never been so disappointed in this show and I’ve watched every one since the show first aired. To me, this just proves (and I’ve thought this for the past couple of seasons) that this is a popularity contest not a talent contest. There is not one dancer, other than Mel, that could even come close to comparing to Sabrina! What a shame. No more “Dancing” for me……..

barbara October 31st, 2007

i am going to stop wathing this show . it has become a populatiry contest as the american idol has. marie osmond , jane symour should have been let go. the judges should pick the winners as they are professionals. what do the people at home really know about ballroom dancing. they should change the voting or they will loose viewers.

Cindy October 31st, 2007

Sabrina was an awesome dancer! Every week she did so great! I can’t believe this happened! She should have been in the final 2! :( Let’s see who else leaves next week? Mel B.? that would be unbelievable also! People, please vote for actual talent.. Nothing else!

she was great…is there sumtin btw sabrina and her partner?

Anonymous October 31st, 2007

Yes, it was a shocker that Sabrina was voted off, but I must say the viewers got it right! Sabrina is a singer/dancer and choreographer which is why she did so well. She should not have been on the show to begin with – it was not fair. Sabrina thought she was going to win it all, but she was wrong.

jess October 31st, 2007

I can’t believe it. She was one of the best dancers. I can only say she was the winner for me and my boys. We love you.

It’s just a show, not the end of the world. I wasn’t surprised at all. I’m not saying that Christina deserved to go but she was never one of my favorites. I never heard of her before this show and personally I didn’t enjoy watching her. I was saddened by how hard it seemed to have hit her. It’s just a show & she was lucky enough to have the experience to be on it.

I feel so bad for Sabrina. I thought “She is so good, she doesn’t need my vote”. Then, when I saw that she got eliminated, I felt so bad for her because she truly is great. When I saw the look on her face, I wanted to cry for her. She was fun to watch and I am going to miss her. I hope she returns to the show, she deserved to be there anyway.

Agreed October 31st, 2007

There is nothing more to be said than what Barbara and Annie said. It has become a popularity contest, I’m sorry to say that I have lost the desire to watch this show. Sabrina was far more talented than most of those people. Marie or Jane should have been the one going home, but I guess they have more fans to vote?! That is unreal…this was supposed to be a contest to see which celebrity was the best dancer, not who is the most popular. UNREAL!!!! They need to just let the judges decide from this point on, obviously the home audiences have lost sight of what this show is supposed to be about!!!!!
