Marie Osmand is only still on the show because of her following of older women who live vicariously through her…she is no where near as good as Mel B or the Cheetah girl who got booted. I do agree…but I don’t think it’s a fair assumption that he’s ’suggesting’ she’s only there because of sympathy. Talent wise, no, she’s not as good as Sabrina was, but she has improved at least. And the whole point of the show is to vote for who you want, for whatever reason you want them.

Yes I agree with Maksim. I don’t know how Marie made it this far. She is very stiff and she makes it look like work. I commend her for doing this in the first place. But the fact that she is in the final three and Sabrina B. was ousted who is CLEARLY a better dancer, says a lot about what is REALLY going on with these tv competitions.

I hate to say it, but I agree with Maks that some of the other dancers were better than Marie. It may not be however, because of sympathy votes that she is still there. I think there are just a lot of Osmond fans out there. Even if they aren’t necessarily a Marie fan, they might like another Osmond and therefore vote for her. It certainly helps that Marie has hundreds of immediate family members voting for her each week. No wonder we can’t get her off the show. That is so rude for him to make that statement, Larry King put her on the spot with that question on his show and it blew up from there, it had nothing to do with her making it public.

I completely agree!!! I firmly believe that there were a few better dancers than Marie. While I think Marie is a sweet lady, She does NOT hold a candle to Mel..and yes even Helio…..
There is no way possible that the viewers honestly think that Marie can TOP or even COME CLOSE to out dancing Mel and even Helio. I am not bashing any one I am stating the facts. And I will be so glad to see Donny’s last night on TV crying over his sister.
This year is MAX’s year. He has proven that he is a strong and wonderful dancer..FINALLY he got a partner that is truly a perfect match..

My understanding about the disclosure of Marie’s son entering rehad is that the tabloids were about to print a story about it the night she appeared on Larry King Live. After watching a replay of his asking her that question, you can tell she was stunned at being asked, but handled the stress gracefully. It seems to me that Maksim is taking the tacky route and striking a low-blow. Unless he is a parent of a teenager himself, he needs to refrain from commenting on the parenting skills of others. I’m guessing that he’d feel the same way about Jane Seymour’s performance following the death of her mother.

Maks is no gentleman. Even though he is right, it shows little class to come out and say that. The public is the one making the final decision, and the dancers have no control over the outcome.

I think that given Marie’s age, she is doing well-but she shouldn’t go any further. I do feel that the two finals should be between Helio and Mel. It clearly wouldn’t be right if she beat out either of them. Though I feel Marie has brought a lot to the competition and I have enjoyed watching her, I think it is time for her to go.

Well that is indeed his opinion, and one that he is entitled too…I think it’s in incredibly poor tasted for him to speak out about this at this time.

The press would have made it public whether or not Marie chose to. I mean, come on Max. It’s a big deal when a parent dies. And the rehab thing is just the kind of thing the press jumps on. There may have been technically better dancers than Marie but that’s not the whole premise of the show. Even the judges think her dancing’s pretty entertaining and the Osmond’s have been around a long time. She may simply have millions more fans, and they’re all voting, than some of the other eliminated celebs. I defend Marie but I’m voting for Mel B (even before I see tonight’s finals).

Marie is not better than some of the stars who have left DWTS…but, she isn’t still on the show because her father died or due to her son. She’s still there because she is a good entrtainer and has been popular with voters. That’s what’s fun about DWTS, they take “B” level celebs (mostly) and create an entertaining show. That’s all it is…mindless fun for an hour a week.

What a jerk. It’s not just about who is the better technical dancer, it’s also about entertainment value. Marie has been fun to watch. And don’t talk about sympathy vote — Jenny falling and us constantly seeing her crying? Jane’s mother dying and her food poisoning? Marie didn’t “choose to go public” — I fail to see how Marie could have kept her father’s death a secret or the rehab of her son (the tabloids found out and the Larry King blindsided her on TV). While I do agree that Marie is not as talented in the dance arena as some of those who have been voted off, I do not agree that she played the sympathy card. In fact, she was appalled that Larry King asked questions on the air about her son. She just happens to be popular due to her star power. Let’s face it, this is a popularity contest as much as anything. As for Maksim, he should really watch the things he says and does. I and everyone else I spoke with absolutely agree! Her technical skill was far less than Jennie Garth’s. Her choreography was much simpler than that of Derek and Jennie. Also, Jennie has never performed live in front of an audience. I think the fact that she accomplished not only the dances but the aspect of performing live is what the show is all about. Jennie’s father has had 3 open heart surgeries and is on daily dialysis. Something not known to many that watch the show. If Marie wins, I know many that will not watch the show again. The semi finals and finals should be left up to the professional judges. Marie is a lovely person, but not on the same level of dance ability.

Well Max has it a bit off…Larry King told the world about her son’s rehab stint not Marie. She looked horrified as he mentioned it and asked how he found out. As for her fathers death it was new just like Jane’s mothers death. There was no keeping that info quiet. However, we all know how the media can spin someones comment. I completely agree. I have said it since she went public with all of the family business that should have been kept private. All of her votes are sympathy votes which is completely unfair to the competitors that deserved to be there such as Sabrina.

Maks needs a life. This is not a real dance competition, it is entertainment and the audience simply liked her more than the other competitors, no matter how they danced. Cameron, with his sock in his pants, Jenny whining “poor little me” and others simply did not entertain the fans.

Frankly, Mel B did not deserve the tens she received if, as the comments in the master class indicated, she was supposed to stop looking at her feet. I watched specifically for the items mentioned on all of the entertainers and for some reason the judges chose to overlook Mel B’s failure.

Get real, Maks, this isn’t real and doesn’t actually matter. It is strictly for the entertainment value of watching B-list celebrities prance and selling advertising time.

Everyone knows that some viewers, right or wrong, will vote for their favorite celebrity, no matter what kind of dancing skills they have. Remember Jerry Rice, anyone? That is why the show only partially uses the audience vote during the season to make the decisions. But leave it to Maks to say something mean. He seems to only care about himself and does not care if he hurts another person. Marie seems to be a very nice woman and I am sure will never say anything bad about Maks to defend herself. I know she works just as hard as anyone on the show to perfect her dancing and she deserves alot of credit for that. Mr. Larry King first broke the news of Marie’s son in rehab – not Marie! I don’t know who shed the light to the public on her father’s death; but I HIGHLY doubt she personally made the public announcement. I totally agree with Maks. As much as I like Marie as an entertainer… she is becoming the Sanjaya of DWTS… if she wins, this will no longer be a Dancing show, but a talent show that looks at more than dancing. What a farce. I also feel that Marie has had more PR than any other Star this season… due to her fainting, Dad’s dying and then family proplems. Having her brother push for her on other shows is also not cool.

Hopefully the best dancer will win, and if this is Mel or Helio… that’s fair. Even if I think that the female dancers have a harder task then the male.

Marie is still there because of her immense fan base, both from her life-long show business career – including her family’s shows in Branson to this day – and the popularity of her dolls from QVC. The whole point of the scoring is that the fans make up half the score, and it’s obvious that her fan base is enormous, they love her, and it has little to do with the tragedies she’s experienced during the course of the show. She’s not my favorite either, but her fans have the final say.

Anyone can see that Marie is not up to the same level of dancing as Jennie, Cameron, Sabrina and some of the others who’ve been booted from the show earlier this season. I don’t know if it’s correct that it was her family tragedies that was gaining her sympathy votes though; she should have been gone long before those even became public. Maks is certainly entitled to his opinion, but making it public when he is still in the competition, shows that he lacks “class”. I’m somewhat disappointed; I thought he was more of a professional than that.

Having said, I do feel it is time for Marie to go. I also don’t believe that Maks and Mel should win, yes they can dance, but they have had an ego/attitude problem from the beginning.

My vote goes to Heilo, if he does as well tonight as last week. Julianne is a great teacher/choreographer, and she is still so young I can’t wait to her in a few more years.

I think that Maks said what A LOT of people are thinking. I would have LOVE to see Jennie in the finals, but this is not truly the “dance” competition that everyone would like it to be. Finally!! Honesty from Dancing with the Stars. Marie should have gone home weeks ago. If this were a true dance competition and not such a popularity contest there would only be 2 finalists tonight unless of course the third was Sabrina. I’ve never even watched the show, but I find it highly amusing that a contestant on the show is just now figuring out that the FAN voting is just that: FANS VOTING. Seems to me I’ve heard discussions in the past along these very lines. He sounds like a sore loser and the commenters here sound very naive. I would think that the millions of Osmond fans (non-Mormons, many of them) have stayed loyal to Marie and contributed to her success. It’s very crude of him to say that her personal life fueled the fan voting. I agree there are others who are no longer on the show that were better dancers than Marie. And Mel B and Helio are definitely better than she. But, I think, and I could be wrong, that Marie was not the one who made public her son going into rehab. It was during an interview with Larry King that he brought it up, not her. In fact, I think she would have preferred to keep it private, from the look on her face when Larry asked her about it. And the death of her father could not have been kept private. I don’t think Marie used these situations to purposely gain sympathy votes. Though some may have given them to her anyway. She does have a large fan base since she has been around so long. I don’t think that Marie played on the sympathies of the public. I think that what has happened is that Marie Osmond is a very likable person with which the public can identify. Many of us have grown up with her and her family.

Marie is by no means the best dancer. Jenny Garth was better. I think Marie should have gone before her. But Marie is a performer. She is also very open and down to earth so people are natually going to be drawn to her.

Mario Lopez was a better dancer than Emmett Smith. But Emmett Smith had a larger fan base than Marioso he won. I wish that the fans would just remember that this is a dancing competition and judge the stars on that alone.

I agree with Max to a point, but her fan base (which is very important)is massive and has been for many years. I believe that her routines could be more diffcult and she would rise to the occasion. I DO NOT feel that her dad dying and her son having problems has nothing to do with her popularity. She goes out there every week and gives her all just like everyone else, but she is not in her 20’s or her 30’s and she still puts on a great show. SHE HAS CLASS and that’s more than I can say for Max.

I think the public votes should only count for maybe 30% of the scores. How else are we ever going to have anyone win, who absolutely deserves to be the winner, but does not have the fan base to receive the majority of votes? Even the judges have said that it’s a dancing with the ’stars’ competition so dancing ability alone is not the sole determining factor . . . showmanship is a BIG factor in any successful, marketable professional dance team and personality is a huge part too. Max is using his mouth to garner more publicity for himself and his partner, period. I doubt if Marie would use her own father’s death to sway the public to vote for her (that would mean that she thinks that the public is stupid and can manipulate them). Even though Marie is not the finest dancer on the show, she was better than all of the others who have been voted off so far who had no dance experience prior to the show. She herself has never been a dancer. As for Mel showing more skin than ever on the show, all I can say is she must be going to be naked, because some of the pro female dancer hardly wear anything at all. ‘Skin doesn’t mean win’ votes do.

I don’t agree and obviously neither do the people watching the show and voting. The last part of the title of the show says it all….Dancing with the STARS. Marie Osmond is a consummate star and performer. She knows how to interact with the audience and her dancing is good enough to carry her this far. I don’t know how much further she’ll go – it’s really up to the viewers. I respect her family and I honor their presence in the world of show business. She didn’t reveal her son’s entrance into rehab…anyone watching Larry King would know that – it’s unfortunate that something so private should have been made public. This years show is all messed up. When Sabrina & Mark were knocked off so soon it made me (and I bet a lot of other people) scratch their heads. So after that I lost some interest. But if Mel B. wins I will not watch next year. Julianne & Helio are without a doubt the best there is. I was a professional ballroom dancer and teacher so I know a little bit about it.

I agree she’s not the best. However, I disagree with the implication that they created publicity of their father’s death for the “sympathy” vote. They are a well known and established family, (who really knows Dr. Quinn for anything else) so of course their father’s death would be shared with the world. If she receives votes, this is by the choice of the voters’, so don’t take away from her, her father’s death and or her family problems. She’s in because she’s likable, and entertaining, isn’t this supposed to be part of the voting structure? Give her a break.

While I agree Marie isn’t the best dancer on the show, I think Maks is being a bit over the top by saying SHE is using her family issues to garner votes. As if SHE planned on having her father die and her son enter rehab during the show. When Jane’s mom died, that was broadcast over as many media outlets as when Joe Osmond died. And when Janes house was in danger of burning to the ground, they were all over that too. Last season they were all over Heather for her divorce issues.

Maks needs to focus on helping his partner win and not on talking trash about the other contestants.

I think Helio is going to take it. And now, I am definantly NOT rooting for Maks and Mel.

I agree that others like Sabrina and Jennie deserve to be in the final three more, but how rude of Maksim to diss her in public. Maks is tacky. What is he afraid of? My favorite is Helio – he has improved considerably, does very well for a non-dancer at the start, and has remained nice and friendly. Mel was a dancer to start with – that and her “uppity” attitude completely turn me off. Marie had a tough hill to climb and has done a good job. Get off of her back. If Mel has to strip in order to try for votes, shows she does not have that much confidence.

I do agree, although I wish he hadn’t said it as I hope it doesn’t jinx his chance of winning, but I know it must be frustrating to the others who have gone home. I think there are upsets every year, but Marie is definitely not on par with the last two teams. I am happy to see either of them win.
I think her public appearances on Larry King and Oprah as well as Donnie’s endless promotion of her on Access Hollywood, and his “expert” commentary and bashing of the others has made a real difference. It didn’t help that the judges who obviously don’t think she is up to par have overlooked her mistakes and scored her so close to the others as well.

Mak’s comment infuriates me!

“I know firsthand there are a lot of celebrities on the show that went through similar situations [family issues] this season and decided not to make it public,” Chmerkovskiy said.

First off Marie’s father was the patriarch of an famous American family, it is not as if she had a choice but to acknowledge his death and secondly Larry King outed her son’s entrance into the rehab.

While I agree that other celebs were better, it really is just America’s vote that kept her on the show.

Perhaps Maks shoudl re-evaluate the rules of the show and have peace with them before slandering another contestant and peer on the show.

Although his comments may be correct, DWTS is about the stars, B-list or otherwise, and not about the professionally paid dancers. Mr Chmerkovskiy obviously forgets that; hence his many red-carpet poses in the tabloid media of late. Quite frankly neither Mrs Osmond nor Ms Brown should be on DWTS: as singers they have had professional choreography training, which defeats the whole point of DWTS. Thus, Helio deserves to win.

Helio should win this competition hands down, so who cares what Maks’ opinion is. I’d choose Sabrina to be in the finals over Mel. Mel and Maks are too rough around the edges. Paleeze people… everyone knows that this is also the PUBLIC who votes and it counts for half of the votes. It is 50% popularity that is factored in with the judges votes. While I do agree that there were other dancers eliminated that were better than Marie I do not believe she has used her recent family situations to further herself or gain pity from anyone. I love this show and will continue to watch it as long as it’s on but it is one of those shows where sometimes the best dancer or singer is let go strictly because of fans and not because of their talent. It was clear on Larry King that she had no intention of coming out with the story about her son being in rehab until he asked her and I read that he asked her because one of the tabloids was going to publish the story. Maybe I’m naive, but I believe her. And she can’t control her Father’s passing or that being made public. She either has a big fan base who honestly have been voting for her or the producers are controlling the outcome and keeping her in for the controversy, etc. I don’t quit believe these call in vote shows because we have no way of knowing what the true number of “votes” are.

Hmmmmm-these comments, while accurate as far as her dancing ability goes, would have been smarter to air AFTER the finals if she actually won, which I seriously doubt will happen. Airing them beforehand just comes off as mean-spirited and could backfire in gaining MORE sympathy votes, not less. Not cool to imply that she is using her son’s difficulties and the death of her dad to win….. As for the other contestants who “went through similar situations this season and decdided not make it public”, they should consider themselves fortunate that the their stories weren’t on the front page too.

Ironically, Maks’s partner had plenty of press coverage on the difficulties in her personal life too – they just happened to hit the front pages before she was actually competing on the show.

Good luck to Helio or Mel they both were great to watch all season and absolutely deserve to win!

She just doesn’t put as much of the dance requirements into as much as smiling and laughing with the audience. She should of went home two weeks ago. I agree that Marie is not the greatest dancer and I think she has a tremendous following by the Mormons and fans of the Osmonds. Thus, the reason she has not been eliminated. That said, I wonder if Jennie, Sabrina, and others would still be there if everyone who says they should not have been eliminated actually voted for them. Being a fan is one thing. Actually taking the time to punch in those votes five times each week is something else.

I agree that others may be much more talented, but don’t think the reason she is still there is because of the sympathy factor. I think it is because of her fan base and fan base of the Osmonds in general. It isn’t good for him imply somehow that contestants should not share personal issues on the show, I think. Whether she is better than the other contestants or not – it’s not Max’s place to say. She gets judged on the show, and voted on by the public. That’s how the show works – whethere it’s “fair” or not. All the celebrities go in knowing that they are staying or going based on that criteria. While Maks is spot on about the calibre of Marie’s dancing, he does not take into account the many years she has been a part of American culture and that she has a huge fan base. That’s who’s voting, and they’re not voting for the best dancer, they are voting for whom they know and who they relate to. This is a reality show, not a professional dance contest, and no where does it say that the best dancer must win.

Marie is just a more talented example of fan power – for good or for goofs – extending a contestant’s longevity beyond the level or their dancing skills.

Fan power is a mighty thing. It puts the voting talent shows like American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, and Dancing with the Stars in the top 10. It is present in the sports world as well, with fans cheering madly and drowning out the opposing teams’ signals – making them feel as if they are an extra member of the team. I don’t agree with him at all. I think he just feels so insecure about his own performance, that he has to criticize Marie’s dancing abilities. The comment that he made about Marie making her issues public; that makes absolutely no sense. When your parent dies and you’re famous, it’s going to come out sooner or later. The football player from last year was FAR from being the best dancer. Heilo has a GREAT partner – but all he REALLY seems to do is smile and twist a little. I hope Marie wins. I laugh every time she dances and enjoy watching her entertain. As Heilo and Mel – they are younger and preey – Mel’s partner, however, has a bad attitude. Mel didn’t learn to do splits during this competition – she started out as a very good dancer. I think Marie and Heilo had progressed the most – so by that standard – Marie wins. Marie has been using her father’s death and her son’s personal problems to gain public sympathy…how sad is that???
I don’t even believe the fainting spell she had anymore! Just another sympathy vote.
Sabrina, Jennie and Cameron should have difinately stayed, while she should have gotten the boot a long time ago!
I used to like the Osmonds, but now that they have all jumped on the bandwagon to promote their “comeback” via Dancing With the Stars, I am no longer a fan of them.
If Marie by some fluke or fix, wins this season, sadly,I will no longer watch the show…fair is fair…It’s Dancing with the stars not how can you get sympathy votes!

While you are entitled to your opinion, Maksim, your remarks were tasteless and out of line. Did you even think before opening your mouth? Marie has not used either her father’s death nor her son’s rehab to get where she is. She & her brothers have been in showbiz for a long time. Her father’s passing would have been news even if she had not been on DWTS. As for her son’s situation, that was brought up by Larry King & totally caught her offguard. Donny & probably other family members were upset with him for bringing that up until they found out that he did so since the tabloids had found out about it & were getting ready to “sensationalize” that story.

Marie does have a tremendous fan base & the show itself allows for fan votes to carry so much weight in this competition. The only thing that would make a difference would be if the show gave less weight to fan votes. And guess what, Maksim, your tactless remarks may come back to haunt you. If Marie is eliminated, my guess is that her fan base would be more than happy to give their votes to Helio.

Okay. She’s not the best dancer. But, I don’t agree with his statement in regards to “other celebs” not going public with family issues. Marie comes from a famous family. Her Fathers death becoming public was not her doing. Also, her son being in rehab WAS quiet until Larry King dug up the info and made it public.
Mak should think a little before he speaks. Marie is a performer, she knows how to grab the audiences attention. That is part of what has saved her during the competition.

I love Marie Osmond I grew up watching the Donny & Marie Show. She’s got an awesome personality, she’s a great singer, very witty/funny, seems to be a very caring and down to earth person, she comes from a large family that has a strong bond & love for one another plus she’s still great looking.
Sure I think it’s great to see her on TV again and all the hard work & time she has put into this dancing competion …. and she’s not a bad dancer, she danced better then Wayne Newton even Mark Cuban by far but not as quite as good or better then Jeanie and Cameron or even Sabrina who were all voted off.

By far those three celebraties are much much better Dancers.

The show is about taking someone who’s profession has made the a celebrity to the public and that has little to no dancing background team them with a pro dancer and learn how to Ballroom dance while competing against other celebs.

And voting should be for the person who is really dancing good!

There’s is nothing wrong with voting for your favorite celebrity but lets be real…. if their dancing isnt nearly or hasnt been as good as the other competitors then the celebrity who is and has been the better dancer is the one who deserves the vote.

I do not agree at all with Max.I hate to watch Helio stand there and let Julianne do all the work.I have seen other times when the judges took off points for that but not with Helio.Also last week they should have been docked points for the mistake at the end but that didn’t happen either.Marie was told by the other 2 judges that her 1st dance was perfect but then Bruno just couldn’t give her a 10 like the other 2 judges did.I think Marie gets slighted alot and i think Max should learn manners and keep his mouth shut.

Marie has worked hard and has been an in show bix for years.She also shows that women (older) can hold their own with any one younger if they are willing to work hard. Oh brother of course it is a popularity contest. Marie is not the one that has brought her personal tragedies up. It is the press. If you pay attention to the Larry King interview, she was completely caught off guard that he mentioned it. She did not want to make it public, because as she said, it is her son’s issue to deal with and talk about, not hers. It also turns out that the tabloids dug up the info and were not going to be nice about sharing the info. So Marie is not playing up any sympathy votes, the press is just looking for a story as usual.
I am surprised at how vocal Max has been this year. I think that Mel is perhaps the best Celeb dancer, but Max is getting a big head on his shoulders this year. Julianne is by far the best dancer, and Julio has been pretty good near the end too. The contest has always been a popularity contest though, and that is what the show banks on, although they do want the good ones in at the end too. I think that it is great that Marie is still there. She may not be the best, but she definitely knows how to use her strengths and can still dance good enough.

Thank God for Maks!! Marie has done a great job for her age and what she has been through. That being said, she simply is not good enough and should have been gone a few competitors ago. This show should be like So You Think You Can Dance. The viewers put the contestants in the bottom and the judges decide who goes. That is the only way to make sure the best dancer wins.

I am growing weary of Maksim’s inability to understand what this program is about. Yes, it is a dancing competition but it is also about public fan based voting and of course, people are going to vote for their favorites. I do not agree. 1st of all the Osmonds have been in show business for 50 years. Their father was well known…it is not like she called the press and told them he passed away. As for her son….she was shocked that Larry King brought it up in their interview….so again, she did not disclose that to the press. She does have a very big fan base and if her fans want to vote for her than let them. Personally, I believe that Mel is a good dancer but there is more to this competition than dancing. You have to be able to entertain and dance. And I also think that Maks should sit back and think before he throws stones because Mel had her own problems in the press which she did bring on herself.

Marie might not be the dancer that some of the other ones are, but she is definitely the most loved by the audience and the fans. She is so much fun to watch. I don’t think she has played on the fact her father died or her son went into re-hab, she did not mention either of those things on TV, other people did. First of all, Marie did not make her father’s death public, the press did along with People Magazine. And, if it wasn’t for Larry King’s
blatant intrusion into Marie’s private life during an on-air interview with the Osmond’s regarding her son’s rehab, Marie would not have had to talk about this private family issue. This is a celebrity dancing show. People watch it because they want to see celebrities they know learn to dance. We don’t expert expertise. It’s all fun. If you want perfection, watch So You Think You Can Dance – those are dancers who want to make a living at it.

Dancing with the Stars is about watching non dancers learn to be dancers.

Not for a second do I think Marie is still in because of pity votes. People have always loved her. Max knows that Marie is getting twice the votes of the rest of the teams combined. I do not agree…Maks is a jerk…sure, he can have his opinion about Marie’s dancing skills…but to insult her integrity of “milking it” for sympathy votes is rude…she did not want to make her son’s rehab public…Larry King found out and put her on the spot…and the tabloids were ready to break the story before that…plus, how can you hide being sad over losing your father? Maks has hit the nail on the head. Marie is definitely trying, but the only reason she has lasted this long is because of viewer support. No way would she have lasted this long in a competition where the judges were the end all be all decision makers. Sabrina should be one of the final 3, not Marie. As for Helio and Mel B, they are both excellent and have excelled in this competition. It is way too close to decide which one will pull it off. If Marie wins this because of the viewers, then I think the judges should have the final vote over the viewers. Let’s hope the true winner is crowned.

I think everyone needs to just lay off on Marie. For her age she is definately kicking butt and she has such a wonderful personality and that’s what is really getting the viewers attention. What goes on in someone’s personal life isn’t the reason she’s getting votes. She’s got carisma. Jenny just didn’t have the right chemistry going on with her partner. 1. Maks should have kept his mouth shut. Even though I do agree with him that a lot of the ousted celebrities were better than Marie, what good can come of bashing one of his fellow contestants? I’m wondering if he ever heard: “If you can’t say anything good, say nothing at all!”? Or, if he has any home training, at all?

2. HOWEVER Marie managed to wind up in the finals, she’s THERE, so Maks needs to grow up, go out on the floor tonight, kick butt, take names, and deal with whatever the outcome is going to be.

3. Regarding Maks’ indirect suggestions about the sympathy card being why Marie is in the finals . . .

I think I’m pretty sure that Marie didn’t ask to faint, didn’t ask for her father to pass away, and — as far as I could tell — did not say anything about her son being in rehab until questioned about it during an interview by Larry King. Matter of fact — as far as I could tell — she was totally shocked by that question, even going so far ask to ask King (after admitting the story was true): “How did you know that?” If that was an act she was putting on for Larry King, I’ve got to give her credit, it was one of the best ones I’ve ever seen.

If her fans — and yes, they are legion — want to play the sympathy card FOR her, is Marie supposed to get on TV and ask them NOT to vote for her?

I don’t think so.

4. Unless someone’s been under a rock the past nine weeks or so, they’re VERY aware that Marie is possessed of an extremely large family (last I heard/read, there are around 125 or 130 of ‘em!). I think it’s reasonable to say that at least, what, 75 or 80 of those people in her family know at least five other people, and so on, and so on? Is anybody in their right mind actually expecting that Marie would ask/tell her family members NOT to cast their votes for her?

I don’t think so.

Maks, yes, you DO have a right to your opinion, but you also need to grow up and learn to keep your mouth shut.

Although his comment may be true, Marie’s personality is what is winning overy the audience as well as the Osmonds popularity. This is a dancing show but 1/2 of the judging is by the audience AND many people love her to death.

As far as her being Morman, Julieanne and Derek are also Morman and they got quite a few votes also.

It may be unfair but that is how the rules were set up and in season Kelly Monoco was not the better dancer over John O’Hearley – she just had a wider fan base from the soap fans.

Marie’s having a good time and Jonathan is supportive – so let them enjoy it.

I personally don’t particularly like Mel B’s personality – although she is a great dancer. Also she knew how to dance when she came to the show because of the chorogoraphy of the Spice Girls’ routines.

Maksim needs to find some class somewhere and keep his opinions to himself, at least while the show is still going on. Let him voice his thoughts when all is said and done. How in the world could he think that Marie wanted the world to know that her son had entered rehab? I’m sure she would have preferred to keep that private, especially for her son. And fainting and a parent’s death is really something you plan. Sure, Marie is not the best dancer, but she is quite an entertainer. When she dances, you can’t look away. The only way to make this contest more dance oriented, is to give the judges a larger percentage in the vote….perhaps 80% judges and 20% audience vote.

Marie did NOT decide to make her family situations public. Her entire family is in show business so it would have been IMPOSSIBLE to keep her father’s passing out of the public eye. I agree, although I think it’s inappropriate of him to say so, especially while the competition is still going on. It’s fine for us to say so! But the competition isn’t judged only by the judges, the public gets their say too and she has a huge following.

I think Marie knows she is not on par with the other dancers. I think the only person who doesn’t know this (or wont’ admit this) is her partner who insists she’s as good a dancer as the others.

I think Helio will benefit from the departure of Jennie, in that her fans are likely to think that she (and Derek) would want Julianne to get those votes.

Also, Marie did not use her father’s death or her son’s rehab stint as publicity. Both of those events were reported through every media outlet there is! Maks is a whining crybaby. He cannot take constructive criticism when the judges give it to him. Neither can Mel. They are both ego maniacs! Marie may not have the skills Mel and Maks have but that’s all the more reason she should win. She has had to work twice as hard. Some of the previous dance competitiors are gone due to the fans dislike of their egos and open comments made towards the competitors. Earlier on I wanted Mel B gone to her over-sized ego. And to be quite honest I believed she should have been gone long ago. There is something to be said about quieter dignity. Yes… Marie has had things that have come up over the past few months during DWTS — death of her father, fainting, her son into rehab,fire concerns … and even concern for others [Jane Seymour – another amazing woman}. Remember the public has grown up with this family for the past 50 years and care about them. She is not receiving sympathy votes from those voting — rather she is receiving kudos for all that she is doing now and in the past. And showing older women what they can do. She is a member of the family with a heart of gold. She did not look for publicity – it just happened because these are events that happen to everyone at some point in their life —but hers were happening one after another on live tv. And to manage to keep on going with that all going on in the woodwork. I am really proud of you.

I think that this show should do a little revamping. It should not be based on popularity but rather on the skills that they have learned.
Marie tries but I agree she is not as good as some of the others. With regards to Max saying about Mel having sex appeal, that again to is not what the show should be about. It’s not how much skin you can show, it’s suppose to be a family oriented show. If you have to resort so skimpy attire to draw attention to yourself, that is not a way to win a dancing competition. The All My Stars guy was interesting to watch, but, when he insisted to have his shirt open to his navel ‘trying to look sexy’ when dancing the waltz, that was tasteless. I think Jane and Jennie were worthy of staying another week or two. So was Sabrina, who I think danced better then Mel. Max should keep his comments to himself it’s not professional.

I enjoy watching DWTS because sometimes ordinary people like me like to see that celebrities are just normal people, too. Kinda unfair as to how much media coverage she has received compared to the other dancers. How ridiculous. If it weren’t a popularity contest, why have the viewing audience call in? If it weren’t a popularity contest, why would those contestants who knew they didn’t measure up to some of the other contestants, stand there and encourage you to call in and vote for them?
Marie cannot be blamed for the policies and procedures of the show. I don’t believe for a second that she’s exploited anything. The Osmonds have always been a very public family. She may not be the best dancer on there, but she obviously is the most loved. Yep, her fan base keeps calling in, but everyone else’s fans have the same opportunity. I’m not Morman, I’m not particularly an Osmond fan. I do recognize that she’s not the best dancer, but I do enjoy her performance more than anyone elses (on a consistent basis). I personally would have preferred the final to come down to Jennie and Helio. Neither had previous professional dance experience, at all, and both have progressed to be beautiful dancers, and very enjoyable performers. But the crap about Marie, get over it. Until they change the rules and don’t ask for viewer voting, don’t blame the contestants, especially if you’re just not as popular with the fans. The process has made it a popularity contest not the contestants.

Marie is a 48 year old women who has done remarkably well in this comcpetition … I can see why her fans have faithfully supported her. She is a sweet and genmuine personality. I do not think her personal problems have benefited her much, if any, in this competition. And I do not believe she used her personal problems to move her ahead in this competition.

Partnering Mel with you was bad for Mel as she is perceived, in my opinion, as being just like you … arrogant and entitled. I have never voted for you in any of the seasons of DWTS. Like your dancing … dislike your attitude.

Maksim is absolutely correct. The show is just a popularity contest. The best dancer, Sabrina, was eliminated. There was no one in her class. Mario Lopez was by far the best & Emmitt Smith won it. Strictly popularity without any regard to dancing skills.

He has a point that Marie is not the most talented. However, this contest is not just about talent since they let the viewers vote who they like best. I’ve never been a fun of Marie but watching her have so much fun is what makes her interesting to watch. My understanding is that the judges will pick one of the dances tonight. I hope they throw Marie a curve and make her dance one that where she has not done well. If she gets the title, she should have to work her buns off for it. I don’t think she should be in the top three but she’s there so if she wins it, she better either be the best or be prepared to carry a tainted title around for a year. Len (one of the judges) is certainly not happy with Marie in the top three so look for him to be extremely watchful for any mistakes and not hesitate to point them out.

I agree with Maks that some of the ousted celebs were much better than Marie. I do not believe for one minute that she belongs in the finals. Sabrina Bryan, Jennie Garth and Cameron Mathison were way better than Marie. I believe if it were not for the size of her family and, obviously, all of THEIR votes for her, that she wouldn’t stand a chance in this competition. She is average at best and to be totally honest, I am so over her corny remarks week after week. This is not “The Osmonds Show” it is a dance competition and she should have been gone right after Jane Seymour and way before Sabrina Bryan. If she were to win this competition, then I believe the show needs to rethink its voting procedure, because it should be the best dancer who wins. This is not a popularity contest nor should it be.

I believe that Maks has hit it dead on. Marie is a PERFORMER, NOT A DANCER! While she brings that great smile and effervescent personality, she is heavy on her feet and her movements are often awkward. Plus, she could NEVER do the exciting and creative routines that Mel B or Helio do. She should have never made it into the finals. I agree that she has benefited from nostalgia votes from her 1970’s die-hard fan base and those fans, unfortunately, consistently choose popularity over talent.

I think it is really sad that people are so down on Marie. It is a dance competition but the fan vote is a big part of it, that is how the show is set up. Also, none of the celebrities are professional dancers, I think part of it is how much they have improved. Regarding the “sympathy vote” they are a public family, it would have been out there that her Dad passed and her son went into rehab regardless of her being on the show or not.

I totally agree with his comment. They’ve been far too easy on Marie Osmond since day 1.
I actually stopped watching the show for awhile because I was so disgusted on how obvious it was…Mel B should win.
Also, with positionning her brother Donny on Entertainment every night, that is showing favouritism and influencing votes as well. Mel B desn’t have any relatives to push for her on an entertainment show…
The semi-finals should have been Jenny Garth, Mel B and the other young girl who left far too early.
If Marie Osmond wins, I will never watch that show again. I know it’s fan support that wins it, but I am hoping that the combined points will prove Mel B to be victorious!

I am totally appalled at the remarks made by a “professional” dancer against a contestant. Max should have kept it to himself and remained impartial. Marie Osmond has a world of class and personality and doesn’t have to show skin to show her talent. She is entertaining and vivacious. She has consistently praised all the other dancers and wished all well. That’s Class… I’ve taught dancing and been a dancer and what you call ballroom dance on this show is far from what it should be. It’s more – who can show the most skin, sexy moves, or whatever – not grace and footmanship or talent. But MAX should have known better to make his statement before the finale – he should have kept it to himself and wished them all well. Marie’s FANS will vote for her CLASS and YES, TALENT. I think the Dancing with the Stars is turning into The Donny & Marie Show II. While other family members are at the show for support, Donny sees fit to run over on camera and cause a scene. We never saw Jennie Garth’s husband run over across the stage and scream, hollar and jump up and down. Jennie Garth improved so much and every week we just see Marie making funny faces and tearing off her partner’s clothes – again. I like Marie, but she has not improved very much. If for some reason Marie Osmond wins this year, I’m afraid I won’t be able to watch next year with the anticipation I have in the past. I would like to see the show go to judges just like in a real dance contest and just cut out the call ins. But I’m sure the show is making money off the calls somehow.

Mel B, to me, looks like a slightly overweight hoochily dressed person at a night club. Might be a nice and talented gal, but the bod needs work to be considered a classic dancer’s bod.

I agree, but when the public votes, you have to know that popularity plays into the voting. If you want the best dancers at the end, you have to only count the judges votes. If you move to that format, you lose viewers…the public feels conected when they vote.

As I read the Osmond dissers it amazes me that these people don’t get it. This is a TV show!! It is all about ratings. Look how long Master P stayed on. Now that was ridiculous, but it made people continue to watch. This is not the dancing Olympics people…I repeat it is a TV show based on entertainment and ratings only. Get over it! I don’t think Marie is the best dancer either but the rules of the show allow her to still be in the competition. I hope she wins.

Max may be right about some things but I don’t think he is right about her doing all this for sympathy votes. Jennie did not even want to be there. Jennie wanted to go home. Cameron was tired from his travel. Marie has a large fan base. I love Marie and while I voted for her, I also voted for who I thought was better (Helio). I like Helio because he is not a dancer and he has improved so much. Talk about unfair-Mel B. is already a dancer. She worked hard yes, but she didn’t have to come from the depths of learning like Helio, Cameron, and Jennie. Marie also still has to learn it all as well. If you want to talk about fair, well, then make it fair by getting individuals who dance as a part of their jobs for one season. The next season get people who have never tried dancing in their life.

Maks is definitely right on with his comments. I agree with Jeanann with regard to her comments about the judges scoring. If they would have properly scored the differences in the difficulty and content of the dance routines along with the celebs abilities to perform those routines, then the fan voting would not carry more weight than the judges. ie: scores of 8 or 9 on an easy routine should not be the same as an 8 or 9 on a tough routine, but that’s exactly whats happened. The judges need to take into account the content of the routines and reduce the scores accordingly. It’s nice to see Marie improve, but Cameron had much more of an improvement. I swear, if Marie wins this year, they will have lost me as a viewer. Mediocrity should not win over superiority, especially when it is so obvious.

I think the ABC network has pumped the media with “Donnie and Marie” publicity (especially with his stint on the magazine show Access Hollywood – and as a result she has received votes based on their past appeal and not based on her talent. Max is speaking the truth, but he’s going to be sorry that he spoke out!!! Now all of Marie’s fans and those who have been giving her the sympathy vote will step up their voting. Yes Marie should have been gone at least 3 or 4 shows ago. If she’s in the finale the show will lose all of it’s validity. Also, Donnie and the Osmonds are always sitting in the audience making themselves seen by the camera…..Donnie had the nerve to run out on the floor and kiss her!! What seriously irks me is that Entertainment Tonight has become the Donnie & Marie Show all over again which gives an advantage to Marie. I just saw Donny on t.v predicting Marie will win! I am so sick of both of them and I will not watch DWS again if this is so. Agreed- but Marie did not disclose the information about her son. Rather the tabloids got a hold of it and Larry King surprised her by asking her about it first. He apparently does not know how to appeal to the voting public. This is a dance reality show, not a professional dance competition. We take into consideration: entertainment value, personality, as well as dance skill. Also, most people are turned off by poor sportsmanship. He should have kept his big mouth shut the day of the finals. I just hope this doesn’t cause people not to vote for his partner, Mel. I do like Marie, but personally I think either Mel or Helio should win, all things considered.

I am so glad someone finally had the guts to point out the obivious. I was shocked when Sabrina was booted off and after Jane was voted off I figured Marie was next. I think that the Judges vote needs to carry more weight. I love Marie for Marie but when it comes to the talent level of Mel B and Sabrina she is not at the level they are. I felt she should have been gone a while back, she is entertaining but truely not a finalist.
