Something about last year’s contestants just didn’t grab us. Other years there was always somebody that my friends and I loved…we weren’t always in agreement, but there was always somebody who “jumped out at us”. Last year’s contestants were just so….blaaaahhhhh….
Give us another Chris Daughtry and we will be happy & watching again, I promise

For me, the first couple weeks of AI always suck. They spend so much time on the people who would /never/ get on, when they could be spending time letting us get to know those who HAVE a chance. Hours and hours of wasted time with people who either know they aren’t good and are obviously just trying to ham it up to get on TV (yawn) or people who think they are good, and are crushed when they find out they’re not. Either way, the auditions are more of a chore than any type of entertainment. How about more Really Good Singers in the auditions, and maybe scattered here and there some marginal talent that could, with some work, be amazing?

Yes, the 2006 season produced several finalists who got record contracts but in the overall scheme of things, many were only marginally successful. Daughtry definitely sold the most CDs while Kellie Pickler & Bucky Covington got a good deal of country music exposure but Taylor Hicks and Katherine McPhee were both dropped by their labels. 3rd place finisher Elliott Yamin released 2 singles from his CD and I have no idea how well (or poorly) Paris Bennett & Mandesa fared with their records.
