Mariska Hargitay Gets a Boyfriend on SVU

She may be married in real life, but Mariska Hargitay is about to get something she’s never had in her fictional life as Det. Olivia Benson on Law & Order: SVU — a boyfriend!

PEOPLE has confirmed exclusively that Hargitay’s boyfriend will be played by big-screen actor Bill Pullman (who played an alien-killing President of the United States in 1997’s Independence Day).

Executive Producer Dr. Neal Baer says, “Det. Olivia Benson finally has a boyfriend, and he was well worth the wait.”

In this rare look into the love life of any character in all three of the Law & Order series, Pullman will be playing Kurt Moss, the editor of fictional New York newspaper The Ledger. The episode, entitled “Closet,” is about a gay pro football player who’s forced out of the closet after being tied to a rape and murder case. (Juicy!)

Airing April 22, it will be the second new episode after the series returns from the writers’ strike.

Can we get some serious signs of jealously from Elliot along with this little development??? I think it’s interesting that the producers are going to give Liv a love interest after all this time - but hopefully no one measures up to her adorable partner!!

im happy fr liv but im kinda pissed at the el/liv relationship. we all noe that theyre meant fr each other.
hes the man in her life, shes the woman he spends most of his time with, they’re destined to be together!
im happy that shes finally getting a guy, proves to my mom she isnt lesbo, (my mom is weird like that; i dont think liv is, trust me)but i wanna see elliots reaction wen he sees livs new man.

If I am not mistaken Elliot is married and his wife just had a new baby. What is he going to care if his Partner has a boyfriend or not.I mean realy, he has enough problems of his own to worry about. I think Oliva is gay too.
