Ryan Seacrest Donates His Paycheck to Idol Gives Back

April 7, 2008

Ryan Seacrest was in a charitable mood Sunday night: In addition to hosting FOX’s Idol Gives Back special, the host also handed over his paycheck for the evening.

A source close to Seacrest tells PEOPLE that he wanted to show fans that he was serious about the cause.

“When he and Simon went to Africa last year and saw the children, it was really life-altering for him,” says the source. “He just knew he had to do his part and be willing to put his money where his mouth is.”

Idol Gives Back, which also features appearances from Brad Pitt and Miley Cyrus, airs Wednesday on FOX.

I think that was an awesome thing for Ryan to do! wtg!

Jette April 7th, 2008

I think that is wonderful. He has seen first hand the devastation of these little innocent lives. This was a grand gesture. Giving back won’t hurt his bank account…he has many irons in the fire and more than one paycheck from his various ventures. Thanks for giving back Ryan.

Thats awesome! Hopefully he will be an inspiration to the exorbitant amount of viewers who watch the show

Ryan is a very good guy for donating his paychech from working on Idol for kids in Africa! Good Job Ryan, and you should be commended for you’re work, and everybody else who’s doing this, should also be commended as well, etc.

I’m so glad to hear he did that. Ryan seems like a very good person & good influence on today’s youth.

Angela April 7th, 2008

How about helping kids here in America??

kate April 7th, 2008

Very impressive and generous. I hope doing this in the public eye will encourage other wealthy celebrities to do the same.

Angelica, “Idol Gives Back” does help kids in the US, as well as Africa and other places in need. They’ve done a lot for the victims of Katrina.
