That is so funny. One day's pay must have really thrown them off budget. To be in the media spotlight and to receive the big dollars, they better give a heck of a lot more than ONE days pay. But to be positive, at LEAST they tried to help those poor kids.

From what I have heard Simon make over 1 million just for one episode of Idol that is not including his royalties from tv shows and cds and music groups Ryan doesnt make near as much as that but it is still a huge donation for both and for all the people saying upset with what they donated it is still a donation and until you give more than a days pay you have no right to give them crap. One day or not it is still a generous gesture and should not be taken lightly

If you figure it this way. Simon makes 4 million dollars a year, divided by 52 weeks, divided by 7 that gives you about $11,000 for a donation to one charity. I don't know about you, but no matter how much money I make in the future writing a check for that amount would still be pretty intense. Not to mention this is only one charity out of quite a few that he donates to. Plus, it isn't the personal amount that he spends, it is about how many people it helps, which if a malaria vaccine costs $2, that means he saved 5,500 people. Now if that isn't charitable, I don't know what is.

I really think it's poor form and rude to complain about someone else's own donation. I donated $100 last year and I surely could have donated more, that isn't even close to a half a days pay for me, but I wouldn't want anyone chastising because of it. I recommend we commend Simon & Ryan for their donation and dip in our own pockets to follow their example, that was their intent. A health donation on our part will likely cure a case of sour grapes.
