It will be “one sweet day” on American Idol Tuesday, when Mariah Carey plays mentor to the seven remaining contestants. Then, Brooke White, Carly Smithson, David Cook, Syesha Mercado, Jason Castro, David Archuleta and Kristy Lee Cook will perform songs by the pop diva in what’s sure to be a challenging night for the Idols.

I do think that Carly did a great job. Kristy needs to go although she’s improving. Still, for me, She’s a Carrie Underwood wannabe. Mariah seemed to be very excited to see Carly. But I heard that they already met before.

This week David Cook’s performance was flat out bad and his crying made me feel angry more than anything. He can always go on american idol (he has 5 more years to compete) but if his brother is that sick he soulda stayed home for a year and not use his emotional baggage as a way to raise votes. I will never watch idol again if he wins i’d be okay if he were second. Coz pity should get you only so many votes. He is this years’ one trick pony and cannot do well unless there are covers of songs done by other musicians already available. His voice is so generic that I don’t see the hype at all. And he really needs the pity votes it seems.
