After eight weeks of competition, three finalists — Cameron Johnson, Stephen Paletta and Brandi Milloy — worked as a team to pull off a final act of giving in Chicago for the finale of Oprah’s Big Give Sunday. They started without any money and struggled at first to put a plan into action. But when Stephen took the lead and focused on the deserving kids of the Chicago Hope Academy, things came together with the Blue Man Group giving a private performance and donating $100,000 to the school. Meanwhile, Brandi went out on her own and put together a cooking class for children at the Shriners Hospital for Children. Cameron followed suit and spent money he raised on books, toys, DVDs and other fun stuff for the kids at the hospital.
At panel, the contestants faced the judges and got several surprises. First, Oprah brought back all the contestants and then Jennifer Aniston popped in to tell them they would each get $30,000 for participating in the show. Next, host Nate Berkus handed out the envelops to reveal the judges’ decision and the final surprise: as runners-up, Cameron and Brandi received $100,000, and the winner, Stephen, got $1 million ($500,000 to give away and $500,000 to keep).
