Dancing with the Stars

Shannon & Derek’s Post-Rumba Rant

April 23, 2008

Despite receiving 8’s across the board for their sweet rumba, Shannon Elizabeth and her Dancing with the Stars partner Derek Hough were clearly upset with the judges’ scores after their performance Monday night. The two let off plenty of steam in a post-rumba tirade that aired during Tuesday’s results show (watch it). While their reactions didn’t seem to go over well with the judges or the other contestants, we want to know what you think.

Although Derek Hough has a point about the other dancers not getting heat for their dancing mistakes, Shannon Elizabeth needs to realize that she is taking this “job” on DWTS alittle too seriously. There is no need for crying here - and the judges are right - she can’t move her hips! She’s a beautiful girl and she’s lucky to have this chance to have fun and learn to dance like a professional - but she needs to chill out! This is the same contestant that refused to wear an outfit that the fashion designer for the show had made for her - chill out Shannon!

Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough looks disgraceful by having that outburst on the DWTS show. Derek is a very graceful and a classy person until he got manipulated by Shannon because of the love he has for her. This is just the begining, time will come when he got into more public disgrace because of her personality.

Shannon looks like a spoil brat, every body in the DWTS works hard. Grow up, this is just an entertainment show. I wonder how much Derek has to suffer when there are a lot more challenges in life to live as a couple. She makes Derek looks bad but actually he’s not. Wake up Derek. I know this kind of personality, she won’t give you happiness after the affection is over.

Doesn’t Shannon gets pay to do DWTS? I remember Heather Mills got $200,000.00 and gave it to charity.

She has nothing to loose and what a sad
personality!

As for Derek, please don’t let her spoil your career and put you in disgrace that can never erase from the public eyes. She costs you too much.

If Shannon and Derek got that upset over the “no hip action” comment that Bruno gave, it must mean that they really want to do well and this competition means a lot to them. Sure their tirade was a bit over the top and 24 is a pretty good score, it’s understandable that they got upset. After all, they DID apologize in the end.

Definitely bad judgment on the part of both Elizabeth and Derek. This is the kind of commiserating and blowing off steam that is best done between the two of them in a private place, not in front of a camera.

The critique that she was crying about was spot-on and Derek might be afraid to tell her because he has a soft spot for her. Her hip action IS non-existent. She looks extremely awkward and gangly when she dances because she is so tall and slim. I think they’d do well to put her in longer skirts to detract from that. The short skirts make it painfully obvious that she has problems with her legs looking wobbly.

I was really rooting for Shannon to do well in the beginning because she went on and on about how competitive she is. As a result, I was expecting a lot and have been disappointed except for one or two of her dances. I hate to say this, but she needs to get over herself because she’s coming across as if she feels entitled to something rather than coming across as competitive.

I’m not giving Derek as much credit as others are. This is only his second season and maybe his true personality is starting to emerge. Maybe next week will be their time to go.

While it’s great to have a competetive spirit and be enthused and dedicated in your performance…This was a little outrageous. I have always loved Derek, and I never had a problem with Shannon. But it is getting a little old, a little too dramatic, and just over the top. I agree with previous posts… she is probably getting a decent pay check, gets to learn to dance with a (hot) professional, and is actually given a TON of publicity. Relax a bit girl and have fun!

Well said Patricia! Shannon really can’t move her hips. And what is up with her and Derek?? How can she be attracted to him. He TOTALLY creeps me out…he has 100% creep factor. Do you notice how he constantly touches his partners on the dance floor. He can never keep his hands off them (I’m talking last season as well with Jennie Garth). Ugh sooo creeepy.

kayla April 23rd, 2008

Soory….meant to type touches his partners OFF the dance floor. His hands are all over them.

Let’s vote them off! At least Ms. Presley could move her hips and have class, grace and elegance.

Melissa, I think you may be right about his real personality emerging. There was last night and then a couple weeks ago they showed footage of the pros rehearsing and talking about performing with the singing acts, and the one part showed Derek yelling at Julianne for missing a step. Mark even stepped in and told him to not yell at her. I have had the biggest crush on him but now I’m not so sure he is as nice as he makes himself out to be. In fairness though, I think people forget how young he is, hopefully he matures and becomes less of a hot head and learns to show some humility.
