Other than boyfriend Benji Madden, Paris Hilton can count the number of people who want to get close to her: 85,000.
That, at least, is the number of applicants who desire a costarring role on the socialite’s upcoming MTV reality show, I Wanna Be Paris’ New Best Friend — due to begin production next month.
The Internet is serving as Hilton’s casting agent, with the candidates having posted profiles and videos on the show’s Web site, ParisBFF.com, all in the hope of winning public favor (visitors to the site vote for their favorites) and being one of the 20 finalists who’ll end up competing on the show, the Associated Press reports.
Calling into his radio show Thursday, the heiress told Ryan Seacrest she’s already picked out six lucky contestants to compete on the show.
Since ParisBFF.com went live five weeks ago, it has attracted more than 6 million page views — including those from Hilton herself, as she checks the progress of the process.
Says Paris: “I just want to see the contestants and see how they are. I don’t care if it’s a boy or a girl, just as long as its someone I can trust, someone I can have fun with and just someone who’s going to be able to like handle all the other things that are going to come with being my best friend.” – Stephen M.
