Paula Abdul: Last Night’s Idol Blunder an ‘Honest Mistake’

April 30, 2008

Paula Abdul says she and her fellow American Idol judges were thrown a “curveball” Tuesday night when they were asked to quickly sum up first half of the show — after originally being told they’d critique the contestants at the end.

Calling into Idol host Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM show Wednesday morning, Abdul said her strange response to Jason Castro’s performance was an “honest mistake.” Abdul admits she’d written notes on both Castro and another performer on the same card, and in the end, was simply “confused” as she gave her feedback.

“In seven years we’ve never had to do that,” she told Seacrest of the format change, adding, “We were only following directions.”–Jackie Fields

I don’t confused is the word I’d use…

Oh, give me a break. What a liar.

Castro deserves an apology. On air.

She forgot when she was SUPPOSED to read the lines they giver her to read! :)

I agree! Stop taking the muscle relaxers Paula!

Michele April 30th, 2008

If she gets confused that easily I would hate to be in a very high stress situation with her….like deciding what toilet paper to buy! Her explanation is baloney. She did not read comments that belonged to someone else. I’m not sure why people in Hollywood can’t be honest when they screw up!

Liz April 30th, 2008

She makes an ungodly amount of money to do the easiest job ever, and she can’t handle a little bit of a switch? She’s incredibly unprofessional, and it’s time they got someone new to take her place.

While they’re at it, they should get rid of Randy, too. He adds absolutely nothing to the show.

RIta April 30th, 2008

thta’s crap!!!!! she’s lying!!! she already had written down something about jason without even hearing it! this proves that the show is rigged and that the judges say the worst things to the contestants they want to see gone that week without even listening!!! That’s what they did with Carly and Michael

Lara April 30th, 2008

After that, I am convinced that they decide what comments they will make before the contestants even sing. They do that just to sway the vote…seems fishy to me?

gina April 30th, 2008

They need to let her go already.

Tami April 30th, 2008

she wasn’t confused, she was high.
