Paula Abdul: Last Night’s Idol Blunder an ‘Honest Mistake’

Paula Abdul says she and her fellow American Idol judges were thrown a “curveball” Tuesday night when they were asked to quickly sum up first half of the show — after originally being told they’d critique the contestants at the end.

Calling into Idol host Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM show Wednesday morning, Abdul said her strange response to Jason Castro’s performance was an “honest mistake.” Abdul admits she’d written notes on both Castro and another performer on the same card, and in the end, was simply “confused” as she gave her feedback.

“In seven years we’ve never had to do that,” she told Seacrest of the format change, adding, “We were only following directions.”–Jackie Fields

Makes no sense. She said Jason’s second performance lacked the usual charm…then said the comment was meant for David Cook, then said David Cook was fantastic….Sure they were thrown a curveball, but she should be able to know whether someone sang one song or two….

Paula almost makes the show unbearable for me to watch. Last night’s blunder only proves what a useless judge she is. Time to replace her.

Isn’t it time to give this woman an off-air rest? How many times does she have to have a public melt-down before the powers that be realize that kids are watching this show and insofar as being a role model is concerned, Paula Abdul is not! Randy, with his limited vocabulary and boring presentation should take Paula’s hand and then the two of them can walk off into the sunset together. It’s not as if there’s a shortage of ‘judges’ out there in Hollywood and maybe a change would revitalize the show.

I will never watch AI again. This shows it is rigged! I’ve suspected this for a couple seasons. They don’t need to sway the vote one way or the other. They just lie about the voting results and kick off whomever they want. A drunk or drugged Paula let us know this. We owe her a thank you.

I do not believe they have pre-written coments since most comments are specfic to the performanace. I do believe that Paula is on some medication. She needs some Gingko!
