Idol: Brooke White Says Goodbye

May 1, 2008

Brooke White, the willowy 24-year-old from Mesa, Ariz., was sent home Wednesday night. But with so few left, it wasn’t a huge shock. The judges seemed consistently iffy about Brooke’s folk-pop style in recent weeks, with Simon Cowell actually describing one of her Neil Diamond performances Tuesday as “a nightmare.”

Paired in the bottom two with Syesha Mercado, Brooke said at one point that she was in “that happy, grateful mood” no matter what happened. But the results at the end of the hour brought on some heavy tears from the contestant who has cried consistently on results nights throughout the competition.

The bigger shock came at the very beginning of the show when Ryan Seacrest informed Jason Castro that he was safe, despite a week that could best be described as tepid. It’s the dreadlocks, isn’t it? And that cute look of bafflement and naiveté? And maybe a public vote of sympathy after Paula Abdul’s strange double judgment of his single performance the night before.

But there were several happy surprises to pad out the cruel hour.

First Happy Surprise: Guest vocalist Natasha Bedingfield gave David Archuleta a big ol’ hug and a kiss. (Ryan joked that David might ask her to the prom.)

Second Happy Surprise: One of the night’s call-in questioners turned out to be a woman named Tara Miller, who kissed 9-year-old Simon back when they were growing up in England. Do you know her?

Third Happy Surprise: Mr. Neil Diamond himself. Despite looking like an old sailor, he was in fine, gravelly form singing his new single, “Pretty Amazing Grace.” –Tom Gliatto

Tell us: Did America make the right decision in sending Brooke home? Will you miss her?

Although I’m not surprised that she was eliminated, I will definitely miss her presence. She brought something completely new to the show.

Ingrid May 1st, 2008

Finally!!!!!!

CHawk May 1st, 2008

Not a surprise to see both girls in the basement.

David Cook’s the clear winner, lest America pulls a Daughtry; David “Up with People” Archuletta will pass through to the finale on the tween vote; Brooke will land a folk-label contract somewhere; Syesha and her abrasive stage-smile will wind up off-Broadway.

Jason Castro is the only real question-mark, and could be a spoiler for the David-David finale. Some of his performances have been positively magnificent, and he’s actually just doing exactly that for which DC is being praised – being himself – every week. Love it or hate it, you know what you’ll get from Castro, with occasional flashes of absolute brilliance (Hallelujah, Over the Rainbow).

I rate AI contestants by whether I’d buy their album. For me, that puts David Cook and Jason Castro in the one and two spots. Bless Archie and his unquestionable talent, but what sort of album is in this boy’s future? He belongs on Broadway, and Syesha could headline a touring company.

But the Idol faithful make these decisions. Cook might actually benefit from not winning, and I find myself conflicted. Paula did the franchise no favors with her epic flub on Tuesday.

Eyegottahugeone May 1st, 2008

I’d do her!!!!!

Jeannette May 1st, 2008

I’m not surprised at anything on this show. It’s a joke. It’s not about talent but who can make the biggist fool of themselves. I have been to some of these auditions (not as a contestant) and the real talent has not been choosen to perform. I feel that this show could be better if they really pick the best people and give them a chance. Those nuts need to left at home. That is the reason I am not watching the show this season. I was a die hard fan, but no more. In all essence Simon is right 99% of the time.

carolyn May 1st, 2008

I hated so much to see Brooke go, she was my favorite from the start. I loved her style of singing, I loved her voice and she was so real. I doubt I’ll be racing to the TV to watch now that she’s gone. She was really the reason I watched.

Oren May 1st, 2008

Well, Jason really should have gone home already.

Each song sounds exactly the same

jen May 1st, 2008

I was not surprised. The David’s have this contest in the bag!!!!!!!

D. J. Imbs May 1st, 2008

It was sad for me to see Brooke go. She is well suited for the Country and Western music scene where her voice and talents would be greatly appreciated.

Syesha is a natural for broadway or the R&B scene.

I don’t know what keeps Jason C on the show? To me David C. and David A are the favorites to win. I hate to see either one lose.

Simon Cowell and his acid tongue is the shows nightmare.

dee May 1st, 2008

i was glad to see Brooke go, she was very arrogant and thought she was another Carrie Underwood, she is a typical “stuck up” idiot !

contra78 May 1st, 2008

She suppose to go out last week…. For her to survive till this week is really a blessing…..
Next to be out… Seysha :).

Cajun33 May 1st, 2008

Davids gonna win solely basted on his little boy charm, not the best simger, and as for the other boy….no thanks.

becsgal May 1st, 2008

I am sorry to see Brooke go, she was finally starting to grow on me. What I can’t understand is why Jason keeps slipping through. I wish the screaming girl fans would remember that this is a singing competetion, not a “who is the cutest contest”

It should be a double David final if we are voting on pure talent. If that is the case, David Cook should be the winner but I have a feeling the screaming girls mean we are looking at David A. as the next American Idol.

MK May 1st, 2008

I agree with Chawk. I think people are voting for Jason to give him another chance to perform like he did in Over the Rainbow and Hallelujuh. I think it just might be David A. and Jason in the final two. David Cook doesn’t have the fan base like they do.

natalie May 1st, 2008

FINALLY!!!! Brooke went home, after her nightmare performance the other night, after 9 words to a song from Evita. That girl sucked BIG TIME. She isn’t the best on AI……..The 2 david’s are and jason well he kinda stinks too…….And miss syesha, sorry girl but you need to go home too. SEE YA!!!!!

Angie May 1st, 2008

Did Brooke really think she was ‘that’ good??? My ears are still bleeding. She had a few good songs throughout the competition but this week, she had to go. And Jason should have been in the bottom two as well. He’s a consisten train wreck. The country gets in an uproar when women are put on a pedestal because of their looks and lack of talent (think, gulp, Paris) so why is he still in the competition?

jade May 1st, 2008

I CANT BELIEVE SEYESHIA IS STILL ON THE SHOW

roz May 1st, 2008

Jason should have gone before Brooke. If people would just vote on talent and not looks the show would be sooooo much better. Really, Jason does not belong on this show anymore!

Brenda May 1st, 2008

I think we all know why Syesha is still on the show and it has nothing to do with her talent. Such a shame b/c she’s not that good but she’s making it through b/c of her color. Won’t surprise me if she makes the finals.

I know I will get bashed for my statement but I know I’m not the only one that feels this way….I just happen to be the only one that isn’t afraid to voice their opinion.

Good luck to David Cook!!!!!!!!

Little Bit May 1st, 2008

I am so glad that Brooke was finally sent home. I was tired of her “poutiness” and her “mouth.” She was always full of bounce-backs for the judges, and questioned everything. :D

Angelina Jolies biggest fan May 1st, 2008

I agree with America that it was Brookes time to go home because recently she forgot some lyrics and shes not that good.

Bridget May 1st, 2008

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY!!!!!!!! YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kelli May 1st, 2008

Thank heavens! Now we don’t have to see her cry every week. Im glad to see her go. Now if we could only get David A. out then I would be happy. I can’t stand that kid! DAVID COOK ALL THE WAY!!!!!

idolfan May 1st, 2008

Brooke is arrogant? No, I think you got that wrong.

B May 1st, 2008

Brooke is SOOOOOOOOOOOO Arrogant, she relaly really loves herself, ans she thought she was amazing that’s why she talked back all the time, blah blah, BIG HEAD!

LuLu May 1st, 2008

FINALLY AMERICA GOT IT RIGHT!!!
thank god the brookester is G-O-N-E-!!
and don’t worry all you castro haters…..he’s not gonna win and u know it, so don’t worry about him spoiling the davids’ fame!
but jason is still and will always be my fav, so i’ll be looking out for his first CD :)

grabey May 1st, 2008

Brooke? It was time- sweet as can be, and I hope she gets a contract- but I think the business will eat her alive. I still believe in David Cook as the #1 spot, Jason Castro is hanging on due to those eyes. Syesha should have been gone along time ago- but she needs to head to Broadway to have a great career. And Archuleta- he would be a huge win for Disney- the latest and greatest for the tweeny-boppers! How about David Archuleta, the male version of Miley Cyrus!

Hayden May 1st, 2008

WTF? I realize Brooke was not going to win American Idol, but I do not understand how Jason Castro is still on this show and she is gone. Yes, he is cute but if it was a contest about good looks, Michael Johns would still be on the show. And Johns is a much better singer. This makes me scared for the final outcome. Should we prepare ourselves for Jason Castro to be the new American Idol?

Lisa May 1st, 2008

It was time for her to go. I am so sick of looking at her face every week. She seemed so nice and down to earth at first, then she saw that America loved that. So she played it. And played it. And played it. I see her as fake, as others may see her as genuine.

tlc May 1st, 2008

I don’t think she should have gone….Jason Castro should have gone like 10 people ago…he’s horrible…who the heck would vote for him!!!!

id May 1st, 2008

I think Brooke is a real talent and the only thing keeping her from succeeding his her own self esteen and stage fright. She is a beautiful folk singer and I love Jason as well. They keep trying to change him but he has a different image and I’m glad he is staying true to it. As far as the two David’s go? I like David A for the win. He is better suited as an AI. Too bad people judge him for the negativity his father brings. He’s a sweet kid with an incredible voice and totally humble. David C is going to want to go his own way and will be too constrained. He is an okay singer, but his looks aren’t appealing and he doesn’t have any facials that can carry him. He has dead eyes when he sings. Syeshia is the most improved, but I can’t find the star quality in her. She would be great on Broadway.

patrick May 1st, 2008

Adorable she is but not with enough talent to stay. Neither does Jason but they can only get rid of one a week.

Almaha Al-Thani May 1st, 2008

She doesn’t deserve to go out at all.
she is a talented girl and professional singer.
I am soooooooooo sad for her.

Susan May 1st, 2008

Brenda is back with her race comments (which are SO not welcome here!!). If Syesha gets through it’s because of the amount of people voting for her. Do you honestly believe the producers eliminate everyone else based on votes but then say “make sure Syesha stays no matter what cuz of her color”? Give me a break! Get with the times and leave your racist beliefs where you found em (whereever that sad place may be).

TH May 1st, 2008

I do think it was time for Brook to go but Jason should have gone home weeks ago, long before Carly or Michael Johns. They were both much better than Jason or Brook. Jason’s song all sound the same, dry and no emotion. I walk away when he performs. It will, or should be, a David Final Two. David A is incrediable and just think the future he will have as he grows and matures! David C is also a true talent. He has improved and does put himself in the songs. I just hope America does vote on pure talent and not hair and eyes.

Mrs. Chocolate May 1st, 2008

I think she would be a wonderful “Sandy” in the musical “Grease”. Too pure to be Pink! I could see her cast in that role.

Lizabeth May 1st, 2008

It’s about time! She should have went home weeks ago, I think she missed her hubby too much. BUT, she will do well no matter what (whether it be singing, etc…) and in something that more suits her personal style.

I think the show does have talent and at some point everyone has to go there can only be one winner!

Jane May 1st, 2008

Yes, I will miss Brooke-she was real and I will miss the sweet delivery of her songs.

betty blackburn May 1st, 2008

Get rid of Paula-she is and has been bad as a judge. She always looks spaced and just rambles
and never says anything. She is the “deer in the
headlights” on the show.
Randy & Simon are fine. She does not even know how
to clapp her hands. A new female judge would make
the show much more fun.

Vivian May 1st, 2008

I will miss Brooke, she is very wholesome and I totally enjoyed watching her each week.
But in my opinion , Jason needs to go, he has been way way too long. He has nothing to add to IDOL

Debsie May 1st, 2008

I liked Brooke but never thought she’d win. I don’t get why Jason Castro has more staying power than Brooke. I also don’t get why Carly got voted off before Brooke. But what I really don’t get why these old guys like Andrew Lloyd Weber and Neil Simon are brought in as mentors when AI insists on giving the boot to anyone who sounds old fashioned or Broadway. Voting off contestants for not fitting in with their styles is a good way for AI to committ show business suicide. They look mean and hypocritical, too.

Marylou Altieri May 1st, 2008

Brooke White is awesome! I’ve already downloaded some of her music. I would so buy her CD! I’m sorry to see her go, but I knew she wouldn’t be the American Idol. Fortunately for her, though, she doesn’t need to be. If she can make money for the record companies, they’ll give her a contract. I know she can. You go girl!

Kat May 1st, 2008

According to Brenda, Syesha is still there because she is black? I won’t “bash” you for making that statement, it is just rediculous. Personally, Syesha does nothing for me, I don’t know why, but she does have a good voice.

I agree with those that said Jason is still there because of his charm and I agree, I think he is just adorable but not the best singer. I don’t vote so I wont give my opinion on who remains.

sophia May 1st, 2008

finally,,,,,,,,

Tricia S May 1st, 2008

Brooke far outshined Jason. Jason should have been gone weeks ago instead of Michael. I agree that the votes for Jason were sympathy votes. He doesn’t even show a caring attitude towards his presents on the show. Booke, I know you will go on to have a great music career. I will be online to buy your first CD. America got it wrong this week.

Joyce May 1st, 2008

I’m not surprised that Brooke went last night. It will be Jason or Syesha next (not necessarily in that order) and the two Davids will be the finalists. Unfortunately, this is a personality competition and with David Archuletta’s teenage fan base texting & calling, I’m afraid that the real talent & winner, David Cook, might just find himself in second place. Time will tell.

mommabenn May 1st, 2008

I was glad to see Brooke go - wholesome and pure oh so sad an unsure . . . seriously though, she never did anything for me, but hearing she may do children’s songs would probably be good for her. Now if we can just get rid of Jason next! David A. does nothing for me either - must be the MUCH younger generation voting for that one! Still David Cook is awesome!

JoyceEllaine May 1st, 2008

How boring was she? Every song sounded the same.

susan May 1st, 2008

I agree with brenda

Tina May 1st, 2008

It was her time to go. But it was a touching departure.

Brenda May 1st, 2008

Jason could be the spoiler for David Cook, but David Cook has Daughtry written all over him, and he’ll have a big career no matter what. He is the only Idol whose songs I have downloaded this season.

heather May 1st, 2008

I know that a lot of people think that Jason Castro is getting through on his looks, but I disagree. I love his personality, he doesn’t take himself too seriously, and his voice is so genuine. I am a child of the 80s-90s and of all the idols, I could see myself buying his CD more than any of the others. If you pay attention, the idols that have done the best have been unique (Carrie: country, Daughtry: Rock, etc.) and I think JC will be very successful, whether he wins or not. I was not sorry to see Brooke go, and although I admit Syesha has a powerhouse voice, I can never get past the feeling that she thinks she is the sh**. That will be the kiss of death for her!!

Didi May 1st, 2008

Thank god!!!! I was soo sick of her and her crying!!!!

Bored May 1st, 2008

I don’t get what was racist about Brenda comment?

Marsha May 1st, 2008

Brooke was a sweetheart but it was her time to go. I love her personality but it is a singing contest.Syesha should be next then Jason. The David’s have this competition locked up.

Jane May 1st, 2008

Dee, how can you say that? She is the opposite of stuck-up! She has been my favorite since the start, and I will really miss her. I knew she was going soon, but I had hoped Jason would leave sooner. He has such a laissez-faire attitude about all of it!Like he doesn’t care, which bothers me. Brooke was truly unique and had a great personality! I want her to know she has a lot of fans by her side! Love you, Brooke! Hope you pursue what you want!

Susan e (again) May 1st, 2008

Brenda’s comment was racist because she assumes Syesha is only in the competition so long because of her race. Completely ignores the talent Syesha clearly possesses.

jim May 1st, 2008

real sad to see her go but looking for her first cd. as for castro he should have gone long ago if it wernt for all the teenie boppers voteing for him he would have been gone. COME ON GIRLS HES NOT CUTE HIS HAIR LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING COULD CRAWL OUT AT ANY TIME AND HE CANT SING . WATCH THE PLAYBACK WITH MARIAH WHEN THEY HUGGED SHE WOULDENT EVEN TOUCH HIS HAIR CAUSE SHE DIDENT WANT TO GET BIT BY WHATEVER CRAWLED OUT OF HIS HAIR. IF HE SELLS A CD IT WOULD BE FOR THE PIC NOT FOR THE SO CALLED MUSIC THEY WOULD THROW THE CD AWAY. TEENS DONT LISTEN TO THAT KIND OF SO CALLED MUSIC ACID ROCK OR RAP CRAP. BROOK SHOULD STILL BE THERE TAKE THE PHONES AWAY FROM THE TEENSAND LET SOMEONE JUDGE THIS FOR WHAT THIS IS NOT CAUSE THEY THINK HES CUTE NOT.NOT .NOT BROOK BROOK BROOK YOUR HOT HOT HOY KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

Ron May 1st, 2008

I know that she wont make it in the finals….It’s very clear…It is just that she shouldn’t be eliminated first…. I think it should be Jason first then her, then my Idol Syesha…..I know it will be a battle between Cook and Archuleta….

Im just wondering why Syesha is always in the bottom three… She is very good. Unlike Archuleta who doesn’t know how to make any changes in his “style” in singing… At least Syesha knows how make renditions in all of the songs she is making…Good renditions…

Debra May 1st, 2008

Every week I am shocked and horrified to see Jason Castro still around. Carly was a much better singer than him. Jason seems like he doesn’t care whether he’s there or not. He doesn’t seem to take it very seriously. Please help vote him off!

Patti May 1st, 2008

I loved Brooke. She definitely will be around the music industry for a while. She is very talented with her guitar, piano and her voice! She also reminded me of Madonna on Tues night with her guitar in front of her! It is also great to see such emotion in a human being, it showed how much she truly loves music and people! YOU DEFINITELY HAVE MY VOTE BROOKIE!

kim May 1st, 2008

why is jason still here i love Syesha she should be in the finals people give syesha a break

Tracie Johnson May 1st, 2008

THIS SHOW IS TURNING INTO A CROCK OF CRAP……… IT IS A POPULARITY SHOW MORE THAN A WHO CAN SING SHOW. YOU ALLOW DAVID A AND CORN ROLL BOY TO STAY ON WHEN THEY ARE THE WORST SINGERS EVER ON IDOL TO MAKE IT THIS FAR. THIS IS A SAD SAD SITUATION WHEN IT INVOLVES PEOPLE LEAVING THAT ARE STRONG AND GOOD. YOU ARE GOING TO LOSE VIEWERS AND I AM ONE OF THEM.

katykw@cox.net May 1st, 2008

So often in the music industry you get people who change who they are through the process. I loved that Brooke always stayed true to herself. Someone said that she was arrogant, not even close. She was genuine and wholesome, someone that I would actually feel comfortable with my 9 year old daughter looking up to. I get so sick of people commenting on the fact that she cried a lot and was annoying to them. She was poised and graceful through it all. She is a real talent and I know that she will go far. I know it will be between the Davids at the finale, they are both extremely talented, but there isn’t the connection with the audiance that Brooke had without even trying.
Go Brooke!

Sophie May 1st, 2008

I love David A.He’s my favorite.

kimickey May 1st, 2008

how many times have you recognized a voice on say a tv commercial? voices tend to sound the same and be recognizable. it’s one of those things that can drive you nuts if you can’t quite picture who the voice belongs to. there are a few idols whose voice i’d recognize without seeing the face (and i usually don’t watch, but listen to the idol performances). yes, jason’s is recognizable… yeah for him. i would not pick david cook’s out of the pack. he has a good voice but whatever. i could probably pick out any of the idol voices, knowing it was idols i was listening to, but jason’s i would know most anywhere. love the style, love the sometimes imperfect notes that somehow perfectly inflect and inject emotional connection.
Jason is the only idol i’d buy music from this year… carly’s voice is great but i need some of the more controlled carly and less of the screachy.
good luck to all.

STLJILL May 1st, 2008

Although I think Jason should have went..Brooke would have been next…she has been the most real contestant I think Idol has ever had…she brought tears to my eyes last night…I will gladly hire her as my nanny…

Superman May 1st, 2008

Brook made me sick from the start. Always cutting off the judges like she knew more than them. David Archuletta is a double barrelled goober. He has no personality and looks scared to death half the time. Typical geek. Dread Lock boy is terrible. No way should have made it past the 1st round. Open your mouth when you sing. Syesha is a wanna be Diva and should never of made the top 12. She should go sing in an airport lounge. Cook is the only real talent.
Paula is so hard to watch. Seriously she is embarrassing herself more every week. Its terrible. Why doesn’t Fox just come out tell us what is wrong with her rather than let internet rumors fester?

C May 1st, 2008

WHY IS JASON CASTRO STILL THERE? HE’S TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!

I’ll miss you Brooke.

GO DAVID COOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CJA May 1st, 2008

Well kids you did it again……You kept Castro……It’s days like this I wish your little text fingers were broken!! Like Forrest said,Stupid is as Stupid does!!! You kids that can’t tell the differnce between a good singer and a bad one, just proved that!! Thanks for screwing up a good thing….GOOD LUCK TO YOU BROOK..I KNOW YOU WILL DO WELL!!

Idol Fan May 1st, 2008

Im really upset because Brooke is good and Jason should have went home last night because ALL his songs sound exactly the same. All the good people have left, like: Michael, Carly, and now Brooke. David Archuleta did really awesome tho. But David Cook will prolly win b/c of his fanbase.

Brandi May 1st, 2008

I think America finally got it right. Brooke was the weakest competitor. I was worried that Syesha would go with her repeatedly being in the bottom two. But I’m glad to see she’s still on the show. I would like to see it come down to Jason Castro and David Cook. Althouh of the two I’d probably only buy Jason’s album, but I think both are the only ones left that bring originality to the competion. Regardless as to how it goes down, I think the final four will all do well after AI.

Kevin May 1st, 2008

I am blown away by some of the comments here. Wow! There are some completely biggoted and unobjective oppinions here. 1. Brook arrogant? Dee must have some issues. She seemed very nice and supportive of her fellow contestants. Someone arrogant would have done neither. You don’t know her. Other than jealousy or just plain being mean, why would you make such a negative comment? Jeez. 2. Brenda, you are a biggot. Syesha has a beautiful voice and is a beautiful girl. She deserves the votes she gets because of tallent not race. Making a comment like you did only shows that you see her race first and it clouds reality for you. Again, you are a biggot. BTW I am a 40yr old white male in case you want to call into question my racial bias. 3. I am a musician and love all kinds of music. Just based on tallent, not looks, the top five would have been both Davids, Carly, Michael Johns, and Syesha. Individually they may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but they are each tallented in their own right and their own niche in the music industry. I think we should admire all these kids for what they are trying to do instead of bashing them. We should all vote the way we want, but what purpose do all the hateful and negative comments serve?

Cheek Bones May 1st, 2008

I’m just glad i’ll be able to see my Jason Castro another week. I watch the show for him. Good luck, Brooke.

carrie13 May 1st, 2008

Brooke should have gone home about 6 weeks ago. We’re all relieved. So tired of the “vulnerable” thing. Ugh…

Kristine May 1st, 2008

So here’s the thing - I like Brooke’s voice, and I would buy her CD if the songs were good. She reminds me of Sheryl Crow. But I will not miss her on AI. She talked too much, as if we wanted to hear her every thought. I don’t mind Jason’s hair, but I can’t believe he’s still in the running. I think Syesha is talented, not a token. David A. has a nice voice, but he is nearly inarticulate when he speaks (golly, gee, yeah, I dunno, I was just trying to have fun with it). Same with Jason (grin, shrug, whatever). At least David Cook has a a personality and a brain (he’s got that big skull to fill!:)and talent. Even if he doesn’t come in no. 1, that may be a blessing, as others have said, because he won’t have to conform to the AI mold.

Amanda May 1st, 2008

I think if the contestants were able to pick their own music, we would see a lot better performances. I think everyone there has talent but it’s hard to show it when you’re forced to sing Neil Diamond and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Those men are both gifted but inappropriate for the age group of singers and fans. It’s very obvious when the songs are picked for them…their real talent shines through when they have more freedom. AKA- Hallelujah/Over the Rainbow vs. Forever in Blue Jeans/September Morn…..come on!

Danielle May 1st, 2008

Glad that she is gone. She wasn’t better than Carly and she should have been eliminated before her. America definitely made the right choice!

Noe May 1st, 2008

It was Brooke’s time & I think she knew it, too.
UGH! How did Syesha end up in the bottom 2?? Better yet, how did Jason C. survive another week??

Andy May 1st, 2008

I think it is time to applaud these very talented young people, who are trying to make a mark in a very tough business. David A. is only 17 years old and has a very big voice. So what, if his stage presence is lacking at the moment, he will develop it. Out of all the auditions, to make it to the final four is an accomplishment in itself. So, how about praising them instead of tearing them down.

me May 1st, 2008

YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She’s gone…..one more night of her pathetic facial expressions and I don’t think I would ever watch the show again! SHE should have been gone A LONG TIME AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK….Jason’s next.

Carol May 1st, 2008

This is when I really get disappointed in American Idol…Jason is a “teen love idol” already… but his singing by no means overshadows Brook’s.

pt May 1st, 2008

Miss her? WHAT???!?!?!?!? UH NO!!!! not at all, so GLAD she’s gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Superman May 1st, 2008

KEVIN….40 year old American Idol Fan…You sound like a stalker and probably should be in jail. SHUT UP and get a life. Syesha will never go out with you and Brook is a man.

Lacy M May 1st, 2008

I love Brooke. However, of the singers that were left, she was the weakest. Jason did have a slow week but I am sure he will bounce back. He’s very original. Either he or Syesha will go home next week. David Cooke should be this year’s American Idol

Stacy May 1st, 2008

I think the whole thing this year is a popularity contest on looks alone. All the little girls need to stop voting on which guy they think is the cutest. Like David!!! He couldn’t hit a note if he tried. Some of the girls that have been kicked off can sing circles around him. He isn’t going to go anywhere. Please remember what you are voting for!
I am a very concerned watcher this year. Now it isn’t even worth it to watch. All the good people are getting kicked off.

Amy May 1st, 2008

It was time for her to go…Syesha may shock everyone and stick around a couple more weeks, don’t count her out, she has been in the bottom two more then anyone else and is still around…

Berk May 1st, 2008

Idol Fans,
I hate to tell you - But this is the WORST idol EVER!!!!!! I have seen what American Idol can produce and this sure isn’t it! I stopped watching when the top 12 were picked. This show needs a major revamp - try something different to get better talent, because we all know it’s out there!!

J. Bruce May 1st, 2008

Obviously, there’s no room for “nice” on the show or in the music industry. That’s really too bad, since so many young people watch Idol. Think of the image pressed into their heads — “too nice” gets you booted from the show. Castro and his mop-top hair and marginal voice says on, and Brooke went packing — hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

me May 1st, 2008

Am I the only one who thinks David Cook thought Natasha Bedingfield wanted to come over and talk to him? Natasha says something like, “Can go I go hug David?” She walks over and David Cook stands up akwardly right before she sits down next to Archuleta. Syesha stood up a few seconds after him to him to make it less obvious. I was cracking up.

JSCD May 1st, 2008

I agree with the “who’s ablum would I buy” measure. I would buy Castro or Cooks album. I love his voice….not as much versatility as Cook but something pure about it. As much as I like Arch…his little boy charm wears off and I don’t see him able to carry that title. Brook..needed to go. S..definitely more on the Broadway scene.

Roxy May 1st, 2008

FINALLY! Brooke stayed WEEKS longer than she should have! She cried for no reason at all every single week…her singing ability wasn’t even close to the rest of them. There is NO way she was “Idol Material”. She messed up by forgetting the words more than once but lied last week and said she’d never done that before when clearly she had when she sang the Sting song!! David Archuletta is the best…and,no,I’m not a teenager.I have sons older than he is. Syesha is alot better than Brooke. I love Jason when he chooses the right songs and David Cook is WAY over hyped!

jake May 1st, 2008

Anyone else notice that Jason Castro was completely smiling when Brooke was singing at the end — i thought it was so odd. Anyways, according to dialidol — Syesha was actually number one and Archeleta was number 3 — Castro was supposed to be in the bottom 2 — did you notice that they never officially said that syesha was in the bottom 2?
David Archeleta fans better vote next week because he might be the shocker elimination.

serg May 1st, 2008

I may be in the minority here but David A is the most unoriginal singer, he sounds the same and is far too “old” in his sound. I agree with the poster that said what sort of music would his album be? He isn’t rock? He isn’t folk? He isn’t country He just sounds like a lounge singer who to me at least sounds like he is copying frank sinatra or something. I find him to be the same every week. So far I liked Michael Johns, Carly sometimes and David Cook is the only talent left. Sayesha is beautiful but nothing great. Jason is just zzzzz.

Hope David C wins

Casey May 1st, 2008

Brooke is so much better than Jason. He’s such a bore with no change in tone, stage presence, etc. He just sits or stands there with those gorgeous blue eyes. That’s all it is, cuteness! I still am upset of how he ruined one of my favorite songs from Cats and if he doesn’t go next week, then I will not watch this show again. This was my first time watching AI and if he’s not gone next week, then I’m not wasting any more time. Listening to Jason Castro is torture. I pray that David Cook wins with David Archuleta following him and Syesha in third or even Syesha in second as those three are really good. Real talent!

JSCD May 1st, 2008

Who’s ablum would I buy? Castro or Cooks.
Cook has more range but there is something unique and pure in Jasons voice. He doesn’t come across (clearly) in interviews very well but still love his voice. Arch — to little boy..that get’s old. He’s got a great voice but so many of his songs sound the same to me. Not as much depth and character to what I hear from him…and I like him. Maybe he will get more depth to his voice with time. S — definitely more Broadway. Brook — she seemed nice but really messed up more than she should have to pull the title..she needed to go after that first song..it really was bad.

Shirley May 1st, 2008

It was time for Brooke to go. She was a bit syrupy but I think that’s just who she is. Very talented but not American Idol. I can’t believe Jason is still there. Syesha has an amazing voice and stage presence which is why she’s still on, not color. (pulleeze…get over the color stuff)
David A is a sweetheart.
David C is the next American Idol, whether he wins or not. From the start, he’s been the most consistent and comfortable on stage. Paula..OMG…what the heck?
Randy and Simon need to stay. Pls dont put Marie Osmond in Paula’s place or I’ll stop watching. Talk about syrupy!

Tina May 1st, 2008

Right on, Kevin!

EChem May 1st, 2008

Brooke sweetie, don’t cry cause it’s over, be glad because it happened. Winning isn’t everything. I voted for you 264 times one night just because you’re not afraid to show that you’re a christian! I can’t wait to hear you sing on Air1. :) You are beautiful inside and out, stay that way!

Joan May 1st, 2008

Oh My God its about time. She was so damn boring. Liven up there Brooke. She honestly could not have thought she was going to win????? David Cook is the best. He should win hands down. Jason Castro sucks too. Syesha should not have been int he bottom 2 she has an awesome voice. But David Cook…….. I never thought anyone could take a Neil Diamond song and make it sound so great. He actually could make a remake for that song. He is awesome. And if by some strange chance he doesnt win. He has already won. Just like Daughtry. He was too good for American Idol too and look where he is? Rueben, Fantasia, Hicks, where the heck are they?????? Daughtry, AWESOME SPECATACULAR And David Cook is right up there with Daughtry. I would love to see those 2 perform together.

Amy May 1st, 2008

Well said Serg!!!! I agree with you 100%

BRENDA May 1st, 2008

Jason needed to go!! He is so boring!!!

Jo May 1st, 2008

What took so long to vote her off?!!!

P May 1st, 2008

Brooke will be missed. Keep singing you’ve got something special.

mommy May 1st, 2008

Did anyone notice when Natasha said she wanted a hug from David and walked to the couch, David Cook stood thinking she wanted his hug, but she went to Archuleta! Too funny.

Shirby May 1st, 2008

America got it right, only a little late. The next AMERICAN IDOL SHOULD BE DAVID COOK. He really is the best singer of the bunch. He will be the BRIGHTEST STAR no matter who gets AMERICAN IDOL. He is also such a gentleman.

Connie May 1st, 2008

I think Jason Castro should have gone home. The texting teen girls are keeping him in the running. He sounds the same every song. David Cook is the clear winner. Brooke is a good singer and has her own style, but what I really liked about her was her honesty and candor. She was very real and I like that. I will miss her, she is a darling girl.

DSP May 1st, 2008

For me, the final three would be Carly, Michael John and David Cook. They all have great voices, personality and are enjoyable to watch. I dont understand why people are voting for David A and Jason Castro… their music bores me! If Fox wants AI to continue being a huge hit, there should be some change in the voting process in future seasons, possibly 50% of the vote should come from America; the other 50% from a professional musician vote (AI can select 5 or 10 people from the music industry to be voters for the season). Otherwise this show will not be true, and soley a pure popularity contest.

Lindsay May 1st, 2008

Finally! It’s about time she left!

Malou May 1st, 2008

Somebody had to go and they all knew it would not be the David’s, so it was just a matter of time for the other 3. Still, I felt really sorry for Brooke. When a person gets so close to a dream, I guess it is just hard to realize it is over. I would cry too. But I just think how wonderful it is for these talented young people to have come this far and then get to go on the tour this summer. How fun !

orluff opheikens May 1st, 2008

we enjoyed Brooke very much and hated to see her go. I am sure we will be seeing and of course hearing her future hits very soon.

Candy May 1st, 2008

BRENDA AND SUSAN, IT IS SAD THAT THE TWO OF YOU HAVE LEARNED AND YOU PROBABLY WON’T BECAUSE OF THE BIGOTRY THAT YOU POSSESS, SYESHA IS A VERY TALENTED YOUNG LADY WITH STAGE PRESENCE AND SHE IS CONFIDENT. SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN IN THE BOTTOM AGAIN, BUT LIKE YOU RACIST SIMON JUST HAS TO BASH HER EVEN WHEN IT WAS OBVIOUS SHE DOES A GREAT JOB. GO TO AMERICANIDOL.COM AND WATCH THE INTERVIEW FOR EACH IDOL, SHE IS THE MOST ARTICULATE ONE AND THE MOST INTELLIGENT. GET OVER YOURSELVES THIS IS NOT THE 60′S AND NO ONE IS GOING TO TOLERATE THIS. STOP USING RACE AS A BASIS FOR YOUR STUPIDITY. YOU GO SYESHA!!

Lindsay May 1st, 2008

It’s about time!

Avery Lives May 1st, 2008

I am so tired of all the Castro bashing. You guys don’t appreciate his understated, spiritual elegance-he radiates absolute JOY when he sings. He is my favorite: i can honestly say he is the only one i am not tired of listening to. When i buy cds, i don’t buy hair styles, eyes or good looks. I go for sound and passion. I want quality in my music, and JASON CASTRO in my humble opinion is the man for the job. I can’t wait to hear what he creates after idol is done. I love you, Jason. You’ll always have a fan in me.

Brendasaracist May 1st, 2008

I am highly offended by Brenda’s comment! Sayesha is there because she has a spectacular voice! I hadn’t warmed to her personality for most of the season, but I can’t deny that her voice is out of the park!

For Brenda to state that Sayesha is there merely because she is black, is the most blatantly racist thing I’ve read in years. Shame on you, Brenda! You need to see a shrink to find out why you would have such inappropriate thoughts about another race. You need to ask God for help to be open and loving to all people.

Clearly, YOU HAVE A PROBLEM!

Erica May 1st, 2008

Jason NEEDS to GO!!!!!!!!!!!!

MARIA Z May 1st, 2008

I THINK IT WAS THE RIGHT CHOICE. NEXT SHOULD BE JASON, THEN SYESHA. IT SHOULD DEFINITELY BE DAVID COOK BUT, I THINK DAVID A. IS MORE FOR THE YOUNG GIRLS AND THEY ARE THE ONE’S THAT BUY THE MUSIC!!!! I WILL BE VOTING FOR DAVID COOK.

Lynne May 1st, 2008

It was time for Brooke to go but I agree that Jason should have gone first. I think the bottom two next week will be Syesha and Jason. The next American Idol? I definitely think it will be one of the Davids. I think they each are very talented. Either one would be good.

Avery Lives May 1st, 2008

Erica, let me rephrase that for you: GO JASON!

Sharon May 1st, 2008

I had the chance to listen to Jason’s performances on a friend’s i-pod the other day. One word- “amazing”. He really does have an incredibly beautiful voice. I will most assuredly buy a cd by him. I honestly think his good looks might be getting in the way!
I believe it will be David Cook, though, as the next AI.

P May 1st, 2008

David Cook makes me sick. From his nasty greasy hairdo to his unbrushed teeth. You can’t understand half of the words that come out of his mouth and no you cannot compare him to Daughtry. There is no comparison there Daughtry was a star from day one.

Sarah May 1st, 2008

I think it was time for her to go. I love her though, and I will definitely buy her cd when she makes it!

Sloe May 1st, 2008

Finally, they have gotten the 24 year cry baby eliminated. This year has been very disappointing for the Idol. Out of the many contestants they interviewed, there was only two that could really sing and one of them only sings ballads which limits him.

janet May 1st, 2008

Why oh why isn’t Jason going home. He is the worst one up there. Brooke had a beautiful presence and I think her confidence was shaken. I also do not understand how anyone thought that the way David Archuleta sang “They’re coming to America” was good. I love Neil Diamond and David’s performance of that song sucked.

Avery Lives May 1st, 2008

Hey Sharon, right on baby! I close my eyes when i listen to the show-and honest to love i can tell you this: Jason sounds even better when you listen without prejudice. Yes, he’s beautiful to look at. So what, he’s a little silly in his personality. It’s not a problem. He can sing, girl! Thank you for expressing what so many have chosen to avoid. Thank you for sharing your opinion. I’m so glad i’m not alone.

Sandra May 1st, 2008

I agree with P. I want David Cook to go. At this point you get attached to all of them and hate to see anybody go.

Sharon May 1st, 2008

I was not surprised to see Brooke go but I really think Jason should have gone first. AI is not what it should be. People with the best talent get voted off and people with so so talent make it through. I think they really need to look at how voting is done!! It is getting to the point that I don’t care to watch AI anymore, it’s not about how good you are it’s about if people like you whether you can sing or not!

Sharon

Nancy May 1st, 2008

Thank God.

Natasha May 1st, 2008

FINALLY - YEAH! WHAT A COMPLETE PHONY.

GO DAVID COOK ALL THE WAY.

Amy May 1st, 2008

BRENDA…my darling Syesha is still on because she has an amazing voice…I am white and Syesha is not only my daughter’s favorite but has become one of mine after Carley left…so to say that she is there only because she is black is a very racist thing to say. Syesha is still there because she can sing and obviously has a huge fan base that is not only from her color but also from mine…she is beautiful and will do well in whatever she does, you need to look at yourself honey and quit judging her based on her color!!!

Linda May 1st, 2008

All the girls should have been ousted by now. The guys have had it from day one! David Cook is the winner by far.

Sandra May 1st, 2008

My Aunt says that Jason C. is so good looking that, no matter what he sings, it would be worth listening to him just to see him.

Carol May 1st, 2008

Brooke probably didn’t have a chance on winning the competition. She started out very good but had many weird performances. Everyone picks on Jason but he is consistent. I always wondered why he was still in the competition but he is actually starting to grow on me. He has an unusual style and he is different. Syesha sounds like everyone else out there right now. Nice voice but nothing that stands out. I voted for David Cook because his does stand out and I like his version of the songs. I’m sure if David Cook gets voted off he’ll be laughing all the way to the bank like Chris Daughtry.

teri May 1st, 2008

I am not surprise that Brooke went home, she shouldof been gone several weeks ago, but Jason Castro, needed to go last night and the week before. He does not listen to what the people tell him, and he just continues to get worse. This is a talent contest, not a popularity contest.

Vicki May 1st, 2008

I LOVE AND WILL MISS BROOKE WHITE!!!

I pray she gets a deal so that I may hear more of her beautifully fresh inspirationally feel good music.

It made me ill last night seeing both girls in the hot seat. And I agree with Oren, Jason Castro’s music all sounds the same, but so does David Archuletta’s Music (yes he can sing, I get that, but other than Imagine, I have not been inspired, it’s all kind of Blah). David Cook is the only one left who changes it up and I think he should win. I would like to see Syesha cause an upset and come in second. I would bye her DVD’s as well.

Terri May 1st, 2008

Jason should have been gone a long time ago! I don’t know what the youth of America are thinking. He cosistently sings horrible and constantly looks bored. He needs to go home!

Buddy May 1st, 2008

Judging from the remaining talent, it was time for her to go. I think the top 3 will be the 2 David’s and Jason. It should have been the 2 David’s and Michael Johns or Carly (based on singing ability.) I would prefer for David Cook to win although I think it would be better for him not to. He doesn’t need to win to succeed, David A does. I don’t think Jason deserves to be in the top 3 but I do really like his voice. He is probably the 1st CD I would buy. He has a very soothing romantic voice and I hope that is the kind of music he sticks to. Syeshia is really talented but I can’t put my finger on what it is about her that keeps her from having the “it” factor. Carly was the same way. There’s my humble opinion. Good luck in your future Brooke.

Hisani May 1st, 2008

Why are the songs stuck back in the old days? I think it would be better for the contestants to have songs closer to their generation. You went all the way back to the beatles two weeks and then Neil Diamond, come on now American Idol!

Cant you guys get into at least the year 1999 !

shan May 1st, 2008

i adore you brooke and i think you’re amazingly talented and original… i’m waiting for your cd!!

melissa May 1st, 2008

BRENDA SUCKS! Just ignore her….

Anyway, Brooke leaving was absolutely correct. I’m sure she’s a good person, but I was getting very bored (and nervous) when she performed. I didn’t know if she would need to start the song over, again, at any point. I expect more from an American Idol. So, good job, America!! :)

I LOVE everyone who is left…..will be pleased with winner, no matter what! This is the first season I’ve ever felt this way!!!

Britt May 1st, 2008

I am SOOO glad to see Brooke leave! I was tired of seeing her cry OVER AND OVER AGAIN EVERY SINGLE NIGHT!!!

sickofbrenda May 1st, 2008

Good grief, Brenda. Stop it with the race stuff. It’s people like you that helped Diana Degarmo get to second place when she competed against Fantasia. Fantasia was clearly more talented, but it didn’t matter to the racists who could stand the idea of a talented, single mother who was black getting the crown, because that’s not WASPy enough. American is black, white, red, yellow, and brown, and better because of it. Also, those people voting for wholesome contestants, give me a break. I believe in being a good person, but being a clueless idiot does not make you a good person. Carrie Undwerwood was considered wholesome because she was a little loopy, but she had to wise up to make it in the industry. What will you do when your wholesome (read clueless) contestant wises up and doesn’t seem so wholesome? Vote on talent, not on persona.

Tammy May 1st, 2008

I was not suprised by Brooke and Syesha being the bottom two. Also not suprised that Brooke was the one to go. What I am suprised by is all the comments on this “blog” by the supposed AI lovers. This is the first season I have watched so I cannot compare past seasons, but if you don’t like this season, why are you still watching? STOP WATCHING AND VOTING so the rest of us who like this season can get our favorite to stay. IMHO, David Cook should win this thing, and David A. should go to Disney. But I guess my opinion does not count cause I am not a tweeny-bopper but a 41yo Married Mom of 4 young kids who don’t care who the next American Idol is, they just want to know what’s for dinner and can they have dessert. By the way, has anybody ever thought that Paula may have something wrong with her body b/c of her past being a dancer/coreographer and a Laker Girl? She might be on some kind of a medication that may cause confusion.

Phyllis Wright May 1st, 2008

It’s about time! Brooke and her better than thow attitude and stupid pouty face got booted. Jason should have gone last week. It’s all about the little girl crush votes for him.

Marissa May 1st, 2008

Nappy Dread boy - Jason needs to get.

Bobby Barton May 1st, 2008

I hated to see Brooke go, she was my favorite girl. My favorite guy is Jason then David A. I have never really cared for David Cook. I have a hard time understanding why everyone else thinks he’s so good.

sickofbrenda May 1st, 2008

Oops. Meant, it didn’t matter to the racists. And, thank God Brooke is gone. We, as an audience, shouldn’t feel worried, afraid, or concerned when someone performs. We should feel enjoyment. That is the purpose of a performance.

Donna May 1st, 2008

I don’t even get what all the bickering is about….once you get into the final 5 people are gonna start dropping like flies. It would seem that the people who do not have the vocal range are disappearing first. I agree that Jason Castro should have left the building weeks ago because he doesn’t have the vocal range, often sings off tune, but he gets votes. To me, Brooke, although talented, is just a copy-cat of Vonda Sheppard…the only difference is that Vonda Sheppard actually has vocal range. You’ll notice that Brooke is mediocre at best without her playing the piano or guitar herself. Her major talented is the playing by ear…which is not a requirement to be an American Idol, so her time has come. Next, Brenda…your brains are in your bottom. Sayesha had a better vocal range than Brooke, and Carly most of the time since she can hit those high notes and that’s why she is the last woman standing. I think it would be bestter for David Cook not to win…..must we replay the Clay/Ruben season again? These top 5 will have records no matter what. I would much rather see Cook out now so he could get his album out before everyone else. David A’s album will only be bought by the Josh Grobin fans of the world since he can only deliver one style of music successfuly.

Debbe May 1st, 2008

I love Jason! And….it’s okay what people like different sounds and vibes! If we all liked the same thing what a boring world this would be! Jason obviously has a fan base and they “get” him as I do and think he would make a GREAT album.

David A on the other hand, would make a boring album. David Cook rocks and will make a great album as well.

It’s not about right and wrong sound folks….it’s the joy of the music they produce and share with us. Like it or not!

Sandy May 1st, 2008

I wasn’t surprised to see Brooke go last night. She started out realyl strong, but has steadily declined. But that’s just my opinion.

I don’t think Jason should still be there. Carly should have stayed and Jason should have gone, if the competition was being based on talent rather than appearance. His hair looks like a matted mess all the time. He does have a nice smile and pretty eyes, but his voice leaves a lot to be desired. He just doesn’t have the range that the others have. He has a monotone voice. At this stage of the competition, they ALL have a musical future ahead of them, so I feel it has come down to a “popularity contest” now. I can see David A and David C as the 2 finalists. Doesn’t matter who wins at this point. They all will be signed………..

CICI May 1st, 2008

LIKE SOMEONE MENTIONED BEFORE THOSE RACIST IDIOTS SHOULD GO TO H…SYESHA IS A GREAT SINGER AND MAY THE BEST ONE WIN..

Monique May 1st, 2008

thank god brooke left, it was about time. I couldn’t take anymore of her crying, every show gets a little old. She should have left weeks ago, along with jason.

Daniela May 1st, 2008

All I can say is … GOOD RIDDENS!!!

This girl was sooooooo fake from the start — and everyone bought into her sweet and innocent act!!

I don’t even believe she is the age she claims!!
Just look at her — if that is a 24 year old — YIKES!!!

It’ll be a pleasure NOT to see her back!!

jt May 1st, 2008

sorr i konw u did your best but maybe god have somthing better for u.

Dennis A, Cowell Sr. May 1st, 2008

I think its a shame to send someone with so much talent home. Week after week Jason has showed his lack of talent, with no voice projection. He has been getting by by the skin of his teeth. While great talent such as Brooke, Carly and Christy get sent home. People criticize Simon, but he is usualy on the money. Brooke was not my favoite, although I think she has more talent in her little finger than Jason has in his whole body.

Tammy May 1st, 2008

Well in my opinion only, Syesha and Brooke both should have left way before now, Carly should still be there. And Jason, he just doesn’t belong there in the first place, whqat a bad choice on the judges part in the beginning! I think that David Cook is the clear winner, althought I think that the teen vote will put Archuleta at the top, and will probably get him the win, which is a VERY LARGE shame!!!

jt May 1st, 2008

sorrudid your best but not that goog but maybe god have somthing better for u.

MM May 1st, 2008

I knew it was Brooke’s time to leave. She was a great sport, but this wasn’t hers to win. And to whoever thinks she was arrogant, please…you people don’t even know what you are talking about. She was the total opposite. Very humble and grateful to be on the show.

jamie May 1st, 2008

It’s time for the weaker ones to go home, no matter how good. Syesha will go soon, so will Jason. We’ll have a David vs. David battle with the big C kickin’ booty when it comes down to it!!

jt May 1st, 2008

people like don’t make it

tunky May 1st, 2008

Finally she’s gone. She was a pain in the butt, really phoney. We need a real person as an American Idol….

Barbara May 1st, 2008

I’ll miss Brooke…not because she was the best singer, but because I thought she was a genuinely nice person, and had a nice voice. I never thought she would make it to the end, but I did think Jason would go before she did…just my opinion.

lulu May 1st, 2008

I could not believe Jason Castro was safe, he can’t sing for squat and I really believe the only reason he is still on the show is because the young girls like the dreads, personally if he got a REAL haircut he would be alot easier on the eye. Problem is he still can’t sing and this is a singing contest. Jason should have gone before Brooke. Oh well…..I wish Brooke all the best.

Sarah May 1st, 2008

Let’s get real. This isn’t a singing competition, it’s a popularity contest. David Cook is clearly the best and most marketable singer still left but he’ll probably get the boot in two weeks, after S’yesha, because he doesn’t have the young girls voting hundreds, possibly thousands of times for him like Jason and David Archuleta. Jason has been the worst singer in the past three weeks, at least and shouldn’t be there. He has a meak voice and although he’s being true to himself, he’s the weakest singer in the bunch. For all of the David Cook fans, you’d better start voting, and often, or he’ll be out like Chris Daughtry … although that might not be a bad thing for David since Daughtry made a huge success of himself without any help from AI.

KAM May 1st, 2008

Go home Jason!!! You can’t carry a tune if you tried!

Christine May 1st, 2008

Well we are down to the bottom four and the two David’s are the only ones left that have never been in the bottom two. They each have there own fan base and style. I believe they will equally be successful in there music career. I think they all are good but it does seem to me that Jason does not care one way or the other if he goes or stays at this point. I think he knows now that he’ll get some kind of a gig even if it’s sitting out side of Starbucks with his quitar and dreadlocks singing Hallullah!!!!

Sharon May 1st, 2008

Finally! Brooke had absolutely no talent - she never should have made it period. She doesn’t sing - she talks and sounds like she’s hoarse. Her sweet, innocent act was getting old - I wasn’t buying it. What a phony!

haley May 1st, 2008

im not glad brooke went home. I thought it would’ve been jason castro. When Ryan announced jason was safe then right then i knew brooke was going home.

cindy simms May 1st, 2008

At this point in competition those that are left are all good. The two Davids are the best, but David Cook is the most talented.David A. has a beautiful voice , but what he sings best will it sell cds? Syesha is beautiful and talented but should finish 3rd.And Jason ….well he can be really good, but the other night wasn’t one of his best nights.Brooke was good at times but her constantly interrupting the judges was annoying and the sad eyes, too much to take.Bring on next week!

Jamie May 1st, 2008

Thank goodness that drama queen brooke is gone…

carly May 1st, 2008

I knew that she was going home.. it is going to come down to the three boys! I think that David cook is going to win this year!!!

kathy May 1st, 2008

Where on Earth do you get the impression that Brooke was stuck up? She seemed very down to earth and humble.

David Cook is awesome, but you gotta admit that some of the time he can be a little arrogant. Especially when he knows he did well and still acts surprised when Ryan tells him he is safe. Same goes with David A. Cute kid and good voice but come on… no big surprise he’s still there.

I will say David Cook does have a lot of talent and I would like to see him get it- arrogant or not. He makes most of the songs his own and that is what the competition should be about. We already know what most of these songs sound like by the original artists. So it is nice to hear it in a different arrangement.

I think it will come down to the two David’s. David A. will get the poplular vote and David Cook will get the talent vote. As for Syesha, she just might make it to the final three. She’s got a great voice, but they tend to stick her in the beginning of the competition so we forget what she sang. If she made it her own or looked like she was having more fun, she would be okay. She just needs to step up her game a little and, as Paula would say, “connect” more.

God help us if Jason makes through yet another week.

Oh, and as far as who you would “do”, that is meant for another website. Keep it clean, sweetie.

Sue May 1st, 2008

Thank goodness! She should have been gone long ago!

Phyllis Wright May 1st, 2008

It’s about time Brooke left. Her hollier than thow attitude and pouty face made me sick. She was so fake. Plus she couldn’t hold a candle to some of the other singers. Carly should still be there. Jason should be gone. All he’s getting is the little girl crush votes. Davis A is good but no o=personallity. David C Rocks.

ibuyitall May 1st, 2008

Jason Castro needs to go. People, let’s keep in perspective that this is a singing competition and not an avenue for a million tweens to make public this week’s crush. Jason doesn’t have a fourth of the talent that the Davids have, bottom line.

dee May 1st, 2008

Jason should’ve definitely been the one to go. Keep in mind that we don’t know who the other contestant was w/ Brooke in the bottom 2 in that they never said Syesha & Brooke were both in the bottom 2. Syeshsa was paired w/ Brooke but it was never announced which contestant was in the bottom w/ Brooke

Tammy May 1st, 2008

I’m hoping for the two DAVID FINALLY!!!!!!

cleo May 1st, 2008

yes!!!! FINALLY. she should have been gone long time ago.

SALLY May 1st, 2008

TO ALL YOU MORONS!!!! WHY DOES EVERYTHING HAS TO DO WITH RACE? OMG THIS IS 2008. GET A LIFE!!!!

C May 1st, 2008

I like Brooke. She’s genuine and I’ll miss seeing her on the show. I’m hoping this isn’t the last we’ve seen of her though. She’s beautiful, talented, and seems like such a nice person. I think she’s a good role model. I’ve downloaded almost ever song of hers and I’ll buy her cd when it comes out. Good Luck Brooke!

As for who wins…who cares? The good ones at this point will make it with or without the title.

Laurie May 1st, 2008

I don’t understand. Jason is accused of being too laid back and not caring, but if he acted to into it he would be accused of being arrogant! David C. is always called arrogant, but I’ve not seen that. He just goes out and sings his best…just because he looks happy when he gets praised does not mean he’s arrogant. I don’t see it in Syesha either, I would just call her confident, which she should be…she does have talent! I’ve been a fan of Jason all along although I never thought he’d win.

Lisa May 1st, 2008

No Surprise about Brooke going, but what is Jason still doing there!!! OMG he sounded awful this week! Ladies get a clue, this isn’t a popularity contest or modeling. I’m tone deaf and can tell he sounds awful. It should be a contest between the 2 David’s at the end. David Cook should take it all.

Beth May 1st, 2008

She shoulda gone before Kristy Lee

Loretta May 1st, 2008

CHAWK… perfect! You have serious insight. I couldn’t have said it better myself!

jm May 1st, 2008

This AI season has been soooooooo BORING!!!!!!!

Ok, is anyone going to comment on the group song at the beginning….how AWFUL was that!!?!?!?!?!

Christina May 1st, 2008

She seemed like a nice girl, but the last three weeks her performances haven’t been good enough, in my mind, for as far in the competition as we are. I think that Jason did a bad job the last two weeks, as well. Every time I heard Brooke sing, I said, “Why is she still here again?”. I don’t watch American Idol results, but I do watch the show when I have time- and when I don’t I watch them online. However, I think that Syesha has an amazing voice, and I am very surprised that she was in the bottom two.

All I can say, is that if you love a person on American Idol- vote, vote, and vote some more. Don’t just assume they’ll get the votes they need.

C May 1st, 2008

I wasn’t surprised to see her go. She is talented in a folk pop kind of way. I do believe Jason Castro should have been eliminated a long time ago. He is not talented at all and can barely put a coherent sentence together. I really don’t get his appeal at all. The two Davids will be in the finale with David Cook winning.

Laurie May 1st, 2008

…and I sure don’t get why everyone thinks Jason is getting all the tween votes. I’m 52 and most of my age friends all love Jason..although some don’t care for his hair. My granddaughter is 12 and she and her friends were all about Michael Johns…now they don’t watch anymore. At least thats how people feel in Michigan (some of us anyway!)

Our entire family has really gotten into watching Idol this year- both are college students- so family time is precious.
It has been entertaining to say the least. And the weekly comments posted even more so.
Everyone is certainly entitled to an opinion and there have been plenty to question….
As with past Idols, this one is turning into a popularity contest, not a talent contest.

I am from Texas and would love to support Jason/Dread Lock but unfortunately cannot do so. He is out of his element; needs to be singing in a coffee house or a street corner at A&M.

Syesha is amazing and has really grown during the last couple of weeks. She has been entertaining and delightful.

David A. is a prodigy for sure. At his age, the potential is there for some greatness. He should advance to the next level.

David Cook is awesome. He can perform anything.
He should advance to the next level as well.

I was sorry to hear that Brooke left the show last night. We were OOT and I have tivoed the show and will watch tonight. Brooke was genuine, soulful and multi-talented. Because she took everything said to her to heart; hence the tears.

I don’t think anyone of us can fully understand the pressures of the spotlight and being “on” all the time. I have cried watching any one of the above perform. It is an emotional experience for sure!

Mandy May 1st, 2008

Thank God, Brooke White is out of the competition. Brooke was so super
over-indulgent, so super emotional, super
talkative that I think these things gave her in.
Have ya ever noticed whenever Ryan or any judge
would say something, she would often interrupt
or add something more to it. Every song of
Brooke’s sounded same, nothin new or
different..she can sing only country music.
Atlast,our,the viewers’s prayers were answered.
David Cook is the only best thing that has
happened in this season & he’s gonna win this
competition. My Top Five:
1. David Cook
2. David Archuleta
3. Carly Smithson
4. Micheal John
5. Syesha
Go DC(David Cook)Go!!!!

shon May 1st, 2008

I think America made the right choice! I think Jason is sexy! beautiful eyes!

kat May 1st, 2008

These kids just seem so much more genuine than in seasons past. You don’t get the idea of the infighting of past seasons or, with the possible exception of Syesha, the “diva” syndrome. It’s because they’re all pretty good, and pretty evenly talented, given the choices of genre from week to week. Each shines on a different week of competition. I just hate to see any of them go, but they can all get back together and sing Kum-Ba-Yah on tour.

Sienna May 1st, 2008

I totally agree with Chawk. David A obviously has an awesome voice, but he really wouldn’t fit in with what music is popular right now. He would be better going to Disney World and being Prince Charming. Syesha would do great on Broadway or something. David and Jason definitely fit in best with the music scene right now. I love Jason Castro (he’s my favorite) but I definitely think David Cook is the clear winner!

diva9618 May 1st, 2008

I will miss Brooke…she was a breath of fresh air!!! Every performance she gave was from the heart. I wasn’t surprised that she was voted off, but someone had to go! Jason should be next!!!!

C. Wright May 1st, 2008

Should have been Jason…he needed to go weeks ago. Really sad to see Brooke go, she was my favorite.

lah May 1st, 2008

All I have to say is, Daniela, you are a very judgemental and hateful person. Brooke wasn’t my favorite, but my goodness, your comments are quite nasty. And Brenda, you are an idiot. Go David Cook. And to whoever said he doesn’t brush his teeth…my question is..just how do you know? Have you been so close to him that you know this for a fact? My, my…such hateful things are being said about these people. They are all good in their own ways. Daniela, are you such a good singer?

Angelina May 1st, 2008

I agree with Ingrid…FINALLY is right! Man, I have been suffering through watching her all season long! She is a doll, but her voice needs come cultivating. She has potential, but the right person was ousted. Thank you!

Jordan May 1st, 2008

I don’t think that Syesha Mercado should be the last girl standing i think she has been one of the weakest this year and carley and brooke should have stayed longer than her i’m also pretty sick of Jason Castro and think he should be gone

Pam May 1st, 2008

I was very glad to see Brooke finaly go!! Carly and Michael Johns were way better than her-they should still be on the show instead of her and Jason Castro hanging on. I won’t miss her pouting and talking back to the judges!

Colleen May 1st, 2008

Finally Brooke is gone! Now Jason can leave next week!

CATHY SMITH May 1st, 2008

America got it right—Brooke was not up to Idol quality. Mr, Dreadlocks better start trying harder if he wants to stay on another week. But I’m hoping David Cook is the next Idol–he’s fantastic.

Jill May 1st, 2008

I think Brook should have stayed. She and David Cook are the best ones on the show. I miss the girl that sang Amazing Grace-Kristi Lee Cook. But
