Kelly & Donna Together Again? Tori Spelling in Talks for New 90210

May 13, 2008

Tori Spelling, who played Donna Martin on the original Beverly Hills, 90210, is in negotiations with the CW about reprising her role in the network’s upcoming spin-off, which recently cast Jennie Garth as a counselor at West Beverly High.

“Jennie is already on board for the series and we have been in touch about it,” Spelling tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I would love to see our characters Kelly and Donna together again and get the chance to work with my friend again.”

The principal characters for the show have been cast for the pilot except Harry Mills, patriarch of the Mills family who moves his family from Kansas to Beverly Hills so he can take care of his alcoholic mother.

Since the network’s announcement that a spin-off was in the works, Spelling has expressed an interest in the show that originally set the standard for teen drama and featured fan-favorites Kelly, Dylan and Brenda.

“It was always my dad’s dream and intention to make a new 90210 before he passed, so I know he is proud and he would be even more proud if I were a part of it,” said Spelling, 34, of her father, TV producer Aaron Spelling. “I truly hope for the fans’ sake that it all works out!”

A rep for the CW told PEOPLE, “At this point, there is nothing to report.”

Currently, Spelling and her husband Dean McDermott are currently shooting her reality show, Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood. The show premieres June 17 on Oxygen. –Ulrica Wihlborg and Elaine Aradillas

i dont want to see a new 90210, period. i grew up watching this show faithfully and i think the new one will be a flop and dissapoint us old fans!

Lana May 13th, 2008

Does anyone really care about what Tori Spelling does? Is anyone *really* going to watch 90210? (What a waste of time….)

Melanie May 13th, 2008

If the right (original)cast members agree to come back, I think it would be great!! I have always loved the show, and love watching on Soapnet now! However, the latter years in College were not as great.

You can’t have Kelly without Donna! I think the more original cast members they bring on board, the better. I can’t knock it until I at least see it. Of course it won’t be like the original, that’s why it’s called a spin-off. At this point it would be refreshing to watch something other than another one of the billion reality shows.

Melanie May 13th, 2008

Denise, I cannot agree with you more!!!

Courtney May 13th, 2008

I agree!
BORING!

KELLI May 13th, 2008

I THINK IT WOULD BE GREAT HAVING THE SPIN OFF AND PUTTING THE ORGINAL CAST BACK IN IT AS ALL GROWN UP I LOVED WATCHING 90210 AND I CANT WAIT UNTIL IT COMES OUT AGAIN ,,,,,

Natalie May 13th, 2008

I agree with you kelli. I am curious to see the new spin off too. Obviously the other here so far who don’t care, need to keep their stupid comments to themselves and find something else to do.
