Marissa Dances Her Last Rumba on DWTS

May 13, 2008

Once again Marissa Jaret Winokur and her partner Tony Dovolani found themselves at the bottom of the leader board after Monday’s show–and this time they finally danced their last rumba.

After defying the odds week after week, the Winokur wave finally came to an end last night.

“Ah, so close!” Winokur exclaimed as she and Dovolani came onto the dancefloor to say their final farewell.

“No one expected us to get this far,” Jaret Winokur told host Samantha Harris. “I didn’t expect us to get this far. Tony didn’t expect me to get this far…This has been such an incredible, incredible experience.”

Despite posting the lowest scores among the remaining dancers, Jaret Winokur and Dovolani kept moving on in the competition–even surprising viewers last week by edging out Mario & Karina for a spot in the semifinals.

And while tears were shed, Jaret Winokur’s final words were anything but sad. She told the audience and viewers at home: “I want everyone to go out and do something fun and do something that makes you feel sexy and shake what your momma gave you!”

So going into next week’s final are Kristi Yamaguchi & Mark Ballas, Jason Taylor & Edyta Sliwinska, and Cristian de la Fuente & Cheryl Burke.

Tell us: Who are you rooting for to win DWTS? Will another woman finally lift up the disco-ball trophy, or will it come down to a competition between BFFs Cristian and Jason?

Congrats Marissa and Tony for staying on the show longer than most! I hope your births go well and that you get those little ones prepped for! You were a joy to watch.

I am so proud that the votes this season were spot on! The correct people got voted off each week (except last week and this week should have been reversed). This will make the finals so awesome!!!!!!!

Congrats!!! I hated to see them go, but I knew their run was coming to an end. It is still anybodies trophy to win. I’m still cheering on Krisit & Mark.

I loved watching Marissa and Tony. I’m sad to see them go, but they have much more to prepare for at home with their new arrivals coming soon. Good Luck to both of you..Sad to see you go :(

I really hated to see Marissa get voted off but I know it was time. I think Christian would have gone the week he got hurt if not for the sympathy vote. I really hope either Jason or Kristi win!! Go Jason!:)

I am really disappointed to see Tony and Marissa leaving the show. They were a great dancing team that seemed to enjoy the entire process. I felt they should have moved on to the finals and Jason should have been sent home. But anyway, congratulations to Tony and Marissa! You were great and I enjoyed watching you perform every week. Thanks!
