Rachel Fox, the 11-year-old actress who plays Lynette’s step-daughter Kayla Huntington on Desperate Housewives, isn’t anything like the mischievous little girl she plays on the show. The very polite and sweet Fox talked to PEOPLE about tonight’s killer season finale, her showdown with Felicity Huffman and what the rest of those oh-so-glamorous Housewives are really like. –Jen Garcia
On Sunday’s finale showdown:
“I’m extremely excited because Kayla gets extra evil. She does her most evil things yet! Kayla, as you know, does something evil and it is used against Lynette. It’s an extreme shock to Lynette– and Tom, too!”
On getting into character to play Kayla:
“I just…completely forget about my other life and make sure I become Kayla and nobody else but her in that moment. I have one major difference from Kayla: she’s evil and I’m not! It’s different from me doing mischievous things because it’s Kayla doing them…she doesn’t feel bad about doing this stuff.”
On her real-life relationship with Felicity Huffman, aka Lynette:
“She’s so nice! She is so caring and loving, and when she acts, she’s amazing. I’ve learned from her to do every take differently and talk to the director and make sure my ideas work with his ideas and formulate a scene that has everything that works and makes sense so to the viewers it looks 100% realistic.”
On the other Housewives:
“I’ve met with them all but haven’t done scenes with everyone. I did a scene with Miss Marcia Cross and that was cool. I met Miss Teri…she is so beautiful and so nice. I love Miss Eva, too. She’s so cool and stylish. She’s like Miss Marcia, but Eva is kind of spicy! I got to see Miss Nicollette at a concert with Michael Bolton; they are cute. She’s a fabulous actress and she’s good playing a naughty girl like me!”
