PEOPLE.com Readers Predict David Cook Will Win Idol

The winner won’t be announced until Wednesday night, but thousands of PEOPLE.com readers are crowning David Cook the next American Idol.

In a new PEOPLE.com poll, more than 60,000 readers weighed in and 66 percent predicted that the 25-year-old rocker would take the title despite the judges’ support of his competitor, David Archuleta, who grabbed 34 percent of the vote.

Regardless of who wins, one reader, Caroline, agrees with the judges who deemed this season the best yet. “We the viewers really got to see all the singers do their thing,” she says in a comment. And Kory agrees: “they both were excellent … Both will make it in the music industry.”

Other readers are sharing their favorites — and how many times they voted following Tuesday’s show.

“I voted 25 times for Mr. Cook,” says Nicole. “Hope it helped! Go DC!!!”

Samantha writes, “I hope David Archuleta wins. He is sincere and he has the TRUE TALENT! There are plenty of people that sound like David Cook out there. David A has a unique voice and a great personality. He deserves the title!!!!”

Hey Sylvia I dont’ think nor can I believe that David Cook is into himself…he even said he wasn’t going to adution for Idol he was there to support his brother who auditioned and didn’t make it..He doesn’t come off at all like he thinks he’s better than anyone..David A is good no doubt about it but fact is he didn’t take risks like David C did or change the song nor did he ever forget the words to the song. David A can only seem to do ballads whereas David C can sing just about anything…no matter what the outcome is David Cook will be a name you’ll hear over and over again on the radio like Chris Daughtry who didn’t win but should have

I hope David Cook wins! He deserves it and is a huge talent! I have been supporting him since the top 24 and I know he will go far win or lose!

David A. will fade away….he will not last in this business. The only songs people will write for him (cuz I don’t think he writes his own) will be pop ballads that will get no air play.

David C. will be able to capture on his song writing capabilities and do his own thing. He will have much longer success.

Archuleta deserves to win. Simon couldn’t see it until last night, when Cook didn’t have the presence necessary for a larger venue.
If Cook wins, it’ll be because people still are stupid enough to vote “cool.” Cook may have those “cool” dead-eyes, but he’s got no talent. Awesome!

BUT MY MONEY IS TIGHT, SO I WOULD SPEND IT ON DAVID A.BECAUSE I COULD PLAY IT OVER AND OVER AND FEEL GOOD ABOUT IT . David Cook is the TRUE talent. Little David has been groomed and vocal coached most of his short life. Cook didnt even go there to try out for the show..he was there to support his brother.

I personally want David Archuleta to win, he has true talent. David Cook does as well, and I actually think he WILL win — I just really want Archuleta to take the prize.
