Tori Spelling Still Working on 90210

July 2, 2008

Tori Spelling was scheduled to appear in the pilot of The CW’s 90210 spinoff, but it looks like reprising her role as Donna Martin will have to wait.

“I’m looking forward to returning to 90210 in a later episode,” Spelling, 35, tells PEOPLE exclusively, “but I just had my baby three weeks ago via C-section. So right now I have to focus on recuperating, and my first priority is my family.”

As soon as the spinoff was announced months ago, reports started speculating whether any of the alums from the original series, which aired from 1990 to 2000, would appear.

Jennie Garth, 36, who played Kelly Taylor, was the first to sign on. She will reprise her original character and return as a guidance counselor at her alma mater, West Beverly High.

Since then, sources have confirmed that Shannen Doherty, 37, is in talks to make an appearance as well.

The new series, which follows the Wilson family’s move from Kansas to Beverly Hills, started shooting this week. –Elaine Aradillas, with reporting by Ulrica Wihlborg

We love all the old characters especially Brenda who left the show far too early. TV shows today lack the chemistry this cast had back in the 90’s. forget the new cast its all about the original cast members they should all come back.

Doherty is up to her old tricks again. She demands advance notice of plot lines. Tell her to shove it! The show was far better without her skanky butt.

I totally agree with one of the comments of ” forgetting the (wannabe) 90210 as there will not ever be another. The original is the best there will ever, so why not just can the new (wannabe) show, and just call back the original crew????? C’mon. I call for a poll. wannabe vs. original

i for one can’t wait for shannen to return to the zip as Brenda, she was missed when she left and i am excited about her return– now if they could sign on luke perry aka dillon to show up w/her— woo hoo

I honestly hated Brendas character in the early seasons and i really wish that she wouldnt come back to the show. The new show would do better without her needless character

Mimosa July 2nd, 2008

I am a new fan of the old 90210 as I was too young when it originally aired however I really like it and am excited to see whatever happened to the alum.

Heather July 2nd, 2008

I love the orignal 90210. Im cant wait to see what this ones going to be like.

JJ July 2nd, 2008

I agree with a PP. Forget the new kids, let’s do a 30-something show w/ all the 90210 alums! That would be far more interesting than another teen sex fest!

I grew up watching the old as well. I love some of the very original cast like Brandon, Dylan(would love to see him come back), Steve, David, Andrea, Donna, Kelly, not so sure about Brenda but it’d be nice to see here character again but I would also like to see Clare, Janet & Val come back too…and maybe throw in Mrs. Teasley come back too :) . It’d also be very weird to bring Tori Spelling back but not Brian considering they got married in the last episode. You know like with every show fans always want more once a show is ended because they feel there was so much more that could have been written I wonder if they will add some of that in or if these reprising characters will just be background people and not really do much in the episodes.
