Some new faces landed in the bottom three this week–and after some jaw-dropping solos from the bottom six dancers it was Kourtni Lind and her partner Matt Dorame, who would say their final goodbyes for the season on Thursday’s SYTYCD results show.
First though, the night kicked off with a glitzy Tice Diorio piece set to the tune of “Money, Money” from Cabaret. Then host Cat Deeley got down to the business of eliminations.
The first to learn that they were in the bottom three for a third time now was the contemporary team of Matt Dorame and Kourtni Lind. Then, surprisingly, two of the favorites Gev Manoukian and Courtney Galiano joined them. Finally, new couple Thayne Jasperson and Comfort Fedoke would take the last spot.
After the dancers prepared for their solos, judge Nigel Lythgoe, who proclaimed that he’d never cared as much for contestants as he does this season, revealed the results, and sadly it was Kourtni Lind who would leave the ladies —and Matt Dorame the next casualty for the boys.
A teary-eyed Kourtni Lind, 18, Minnesota’s jazz/contemporary dancer and dead-ringer for Uma Thurman, said she “could stand up [on the stage] and talk for hours and thank everybody.” While Matt Dorame, 22, the contemporary dancer from Glendale, Ariz., told the audience that just “performing on the stage for everyone” had been his favorite moment not to mention working alongside “the best dancers in the world!” –Jed Dreben
