Nashville Star’s Shawn to John Rich: You’re Fired!

One of the coolest things about NBC’s Nashville Star is that the judges — singers Jewel and John Rich and songwriter Jeffrey Steele — also act as mentors to the country-singing contestants. Then again, for Shawn Mayer, a spitfire brunette from a town of 45 people who has worked on a hog far and dreams of singing a duet with Garth Brooks, working with Rich (of hit-making duo Big & Rich), the show’s resident Simon Cowell, wasn’t something she was looking forward to. Watch a sneak peek of tonight’s show, on which Rich dares her to fire him as her mentor — and she does!

I am very sure there is better judges tha nasty RICH. I really do believe that this show AMATURE show should be viwed by the public before airing

I just do not understand how these amatures are saying the pro’s are not helping? why do you not listen to people that have already gone thru the worst to have a career? I think jeff is just as hard as john, but maybe his manner is softer, but come all need to pay attn and learn. if they knew it all they would not be on the show. Oh I just watched the show and I am very upset that a hard working group Pearl Heart is gone, who is America voting for?

CSJ - Do you even know anything about John Rich?? He doen’t not just make albums with Big & Rich, but also writes some of the best songs for the best country singers out there. Check out Wikipedia and see for yourself. He’s not being mean, he’s telling it how it is.
