Katherine Heigl ‘Absolutely Staying’ on Grey’s Anatomy

July 16, 2008

Despite the rumors, Katherine Heigl will be scrubbing in next season on Grey’s Anatomy.

“She’s absolutely staying with the show,” ABC entertainment president Stephen McPherson said Wednesday at the Television Critics Association’s annual fall preview, putting to rest growing rumors of a fallout between the actress and the show.

In June, Heigl stunned millions of Grey’s fans, publicly snubbing the show’s writers by withdrawing her name from Emmy consideration, saying, “I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination.”

More recently, Internet buzz began to build that GA creator Shonda Rhimes was going to kill off her character Izzie with a life-threatening brain tumor.

But McPherson says contrary to the rumors, Heigl is returning–and getting a juicy storyline: “There’s an unbelievable storyline for her which is really central to everything that’s going to go on this season. We’re really excited about that.” –Madeleine Desmond, with reporting by Lisa Ingrassia

She still should go. She isn’t a good actor or a good person.

Annie July 16th, 2008

I’d write her off the show. Obviously, she doesn’t realize she’s part of a cast. She plays the same character all of the time. So whiny!!

TC July 16th, 2008

I cant stand her! She needs to go away completely!

jenny July 16th, 2008

she is a cry baby and i am sick of her and her problems take your millions of dollars and be happy or quit. stop the whining!!!!!!!

DH July 16th, 2008

I for one am glad that she is staying with GA, she is an integral part of the original cast. Personal issues aside, it is bad enough Isiah Washington was let go last year

Christiana July 16th, 2008

I don’t enjoy the show anymore and she is the central reason why. She should take some of her own advice and just go away.

Nat July 16th, 2008

I am glad to hear she is staying on. I love her character in fact she is probably the only female character I like besides Dr. Bailey. Everyone is like “she is so ungrateful for the role and it shows in withdrawing her nomination.” In case no one has noticed she has picked up a nod both seasons one and two. She is a strong competitor in that category and was likely to recieve another nomination. But I think it was polite that she asked not too. It gives someone else the chance to win. After all she has already won a Golden Globe already for the role. Needless to say I wouldn’t watch the show if she wasn’t on cause she is like my favorite character

Laurin July 16th, 2008

Well, I’m glad she’s staying!! I love Izzy and think she’s a great!! I can’t wait to see what her story line will be!!

ju July 16th, 2008

It is a shame she’s staying on the show. While the character is interesting, katherine has shown signs of little respect for the peole she works for. She’s rude and arrogant and her comments about the movie Knocked up were a good sample of someone who might think too much of herself. I would not mind seeing her go away.

Shannon July 16th, 2008

That’s awesome - the show wouldn’t be the same without her and I probably wouldn’t watch it! But I’m glad the rumours were just rumours!
