Rosie O’Donnell — who went from the Queen of Nice on her daytime talk show to being the most controversial host ever on The View — is now in talks to transform herself yet again.
She may be the host of a primetime NBC variety show, Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello reports.
O’Donnell left her famously cuddly talk show in 2002 to become a full-time mother. She returned to The View in a much less huggable turn in 2006 to replace outgoing Meredith Vieira.
The opinionated comic generated tons of controversy — and buzz — for the show with highly publicized conflicts with everyone from Donald Trump to conservative co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck. She left the show in April 2007.
Last year, MSNBC was reportedly close to giving O’Donnell a one-hour show, but, according to her, “panicked.” –Michael Y. Park
