• Former Vice President Dan Quayle is reportedly on a short list of potential contestants for the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars. Quayle is relieved he won’t have to spell “Edyta Sliwinska.”
• So you think you can cook? The Next Food Network Star finale snagged 4 million viewers and became the most-watched show in the history of the network. Winner Aaron McCargo Jr.’s show Big Daddy’s House premieres Sunday.
• Better late than never! American Idol favorite Melinda Doolittle has signed a record deal with Hi Fi records more than a year after she left the show. (There’s still hope for Sanjaya!) Doolittle’s debut is expected in the fall.
• HBO wants to give Kanye West a voice — on TV. Sources suggest the network is working on a reality show that would showcase the busy life of the Grammy winner. 50 Cent said, “G- G- G- Gimme a break.”
• Planet Green will air 10 episodes of a new reality show called Battleground Earth: Ludacris vs. Tommy Lee, which challenges the two musicians and their respective “eco-rages” to out green each other by doing the most good for the planet. Said Al Gore, “I’m available.”
