Thursday’s episode closed with a literal cliffhanger that only BB could conjure up–nine house guests clinging to a metal rail to win the HoH competition.
Not surprisingly, after 26 minutes of being shaken while hanging on for dear life, Jerry, the salty septuagenarian, was the first one to bow out. Libra quickly followed suit (apparently delirious after only 33 minutes, asking the hilariously rhetorical question, “Where am I?”). Dan was the next to fall, then Ollie, leaving April and Renny to contend with the united Team B.A. front of Jessie, Memphis and Michelle.
Maybe it was all that weight he whined about losing while stressing over his possible eviction, but in a shocking turn of events, Jessie’s brawny biceps failed him and he dropped out of the competition after an hour. The next man down was Memphis, who tried to play a desperate game of “Let’s make a deal,” but was unable to swing a new partnership before the building shook him loose. And with that, the hopes and prayers of Team B.A. were pinned on Michelle.
Renny, God bless her 53-year-old arms and indomitable spirit, shocked everyone with her staying power, but she finally slipped from the wall, leaving Michelle and April to finish the battle of endurance. After close to three hours on the wall, Michelle, openly weeping from fatigue and frustration, made a deal with April, who promised not to put her or Jessie up for eviction.
Keesha Takes an Ill-Advised Trip… to Memphis: Keesha’s first move as ex-HoH was to sidle up to the heavily targeted Memphis. “I just think that Memphis is a really nice guy,” a confused Keesha later explained in her confessional after a cozy sauna sit-down with Memphis. Keesha, word to the wise, nice guys don’t try to physically assault great-grandfathers.
And with that single conversation, Keesha may have found herself on the outside of the April-led household looking in. “Memphis has a way with girls,” said new HoH April, adding, “If Keesha tells Memphis anything, I will put her up.”
“America’s Player” Not So Much of a Player: Dan graciously accepted the mantle of “America’s Player,” but after watching his ham-fisted attempts at manipulating April, America may want to recast their votes. Dan’s first mission, as dictated by the viewers: get Jessie nominated for eviction. Dan seemed up for the challenge, boasting that he would, “fight tooth and nail to make sure that the muscleman from Iowa is up on the block!” Dan wasted no time to try and convince April to go against her word and put Jessie up for eviction. April’s response? She said of the Michigan schoolteacher, “I think he’s weird.” Libra agreed, professing to smell a house rat. “I think he threw the competition, for sure,” she declared, “Something’s just not right.”
The End of Team B.A.?: With April in the seat of power, there was one thing that everyone was sure of–Ollie didn’t have to sweat the nomination ceremony. But it turns out, April’s word was only good–to a point. As promised, Michelle was the first to be saved, and five key turns later, Dan was able to breathe a sigh of relief as Jessie and Memphis were the two houseguests put up for eviction. Now it comes down to which of the two former power players can wrangle the PoV–or turn enough houseguests against their one-time ally. Jessie, in his first (and possibly only) moment of brilliance, said in his confessional, “What it all boils down to, my alliance sucks.” –Reagan Alexander
