90210’s AnnaLynne McCord on Shannen Doherty: ‘I Really Like Her!’

Watch out West Beverly! Brenda Walsh and Kelly Taylor are officially on the same turf!

Fourteen years after saying goodbye to Dylan McKay and the Peach Pit, Shannen Doherty’s alter ego Brenda is back at West Beverly High School. Much to the delight of diehard fans and the new cast alike, Aug. 7 was Doherty’s first day on set.

“Shannen Doherty’s first day is right now actually, she’s shooting,” AnnaLynne McCord, who plays the newest 90210 vixen Naomi, told PEOPLE at the EA Sports/XBOX premiere of Madden NFL ‘09 Thursday. “I can’t wait to meet Shannen, I really like her!”

However it’s Brenda’s frenemy, Kelly Taylor, whom McCord’s character Naomi most resembles. “They kind of made my character a little like the girl who thinks she’s Kelly Taylor — spoiled little rich girl,” said McCord, who insisted the “very sweet” Jennie Garth is nothing like the pouty princess she plays onscreen. Despite never seeing an episode of the original cult classic, McCord also said the CW show is “a new spin on an old thing.”

If that’s the case, tune in Sept. 2 to find out what the new and old gang are up to–and more importantly, if Brenda and Kelly are still fighting over the same guys! – Michelle Ward

It is great to hear that Shanon Doherty is back on 90210. She is the Marilyn Monroe of her time. She has a lot of class, is very inteligent and enormously beautiful. She was an icon ever since she graced the tv screen. God bless her and God bless America. And why not?

The timing (1990), the chemistry, and the story writers were right on track at the time for the original 90210. As soon as the novelty of the old characters wears off, it will have to make it on its own. Good luck making it past a couple seasons…..most don’t.

I can’t wait to see Donna, Kelly, Brenda and Nat. They are the only reason I will be watching. Without them I would not be giving this show a chance so I hope they keep them on as long as they will can.

Huh?? I’m confused. Did Jacob really compare Shannon Doughtery to Marilyn Monroe? That’s very extreme. Shannon is a nasty b***ch who got into fights with everyone she ever worked with. I have more class in my little pinky than she has in her whole body. But with that said, should be interesting to have her back, it’s like a bad car accident, you just can’t take your eyes off of it.

I loved 90210. I know Shannen wasn’t the nicest to work with, but who cares, it was 15 years ago. I was so sad when she left! I did not want cheating Kelly Taylor to have Dylan MacKay! It was just not right!!
As for this chick, I am blonde, but I sure as hell do not talk it! Lol.. I can not believe she just admitted to a) “liking” Shannen, but never meeting her, and b) to never watching an episode! Ok, flake.. How can you possibly play a part on a show that is coming back? My God, I already don’t like this new “vixen”!
