The original 90210 kids long since left high school, and apparently they’ve left the old high-school drama behind, too.
Shannen Doherty, the most notoriously difficult member of the original cast, says things are positively pleasant between her and Jennie Garth on the set of the new 90210.
“There was almost a comfort in knowing that I was getting to work with somebody who had been on the original with me and gone through the same experiences,” she told Radar magazine. “Like, ‘Okay we’ve been through the war together already.’ I never even gave any thought to it being awkward. I know how much I’ve grown up since then. I would assume that she’s grown up the same amount.”
That’s quite a change from the early ’90s, when reports of intra-cast tension were commonplace on the original series. Doherty, now 37, and Garth, 36, had a particularly strained relationship at times back then, with Garth once admitting that the two would “fight like cats and dogs.”
Garth, though more guarded with her comments, also confirms things have improved, telling Extra in a recent interview: “It is what it is. It’s fine. No crazy drama’s going on.”
So, after not speaking in 14 years, what did Doherty and Garth talk about? Dancing with the Stars, of course! “I love that show,” Doherty told Radar. “I wouldn’t be on it in a million years, but I wanted to see if she had fun doing it. I had so many questions about her kids and her husband too,” Doherty added, “but mostly Dancing with the Stars.” –Tim Nudd
