Tim Gunn to Fill In for J.Lo on Project Runway Finale

September 12, 2008

Jennifer Lopez was supposed to be the surprise guest judge for Project Runway’s season finale. But an injury auf’d her from the Bravo reality show.

At the Friday morning taping of Runway’s Fashion Week show for its finalists, Heidi Klum announced to the crowd that the singer-actress had to pull out “due to a foot injury” and wouldn’t be able to help decide this season’s winner.

“She hurt her leg/foot, apparently,” a source tells PEOPLE.

Lopez’s appearance on the finale was never publicly confirmed, because producers like to keep the guest judge as much of a surprise as possible, added the source.

Instead, Tim Gunn, Runway’s resident fashion mentor, will be stepping into her shoes. And although he has close relationships with the contestants because he advises each of them on their work, he promised to be “unbiased” as a judge.

“It just seemed totally fitting because he’s never been a judge,” the source says, noting that Gunn “was extremely nervous” to switch roles on the show.

If anything, news of Gunn stepping in as a replacement was greeted warmly by the contestants. “People were crying because they were so moved by Tim being a judge,” says the source.

Yayyyyyyyy!!!! I love J.Lo and I was soo excited for her, BUT I LOVE TIM!

It’s not like J Lo is walking the runway….she’s just sitting. So why wouldn’t she be able to participate on the show?

I think it’s BS. She screwed the producers and they probably needed to find someone at the last minute.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Tim. But I think this was a little bit of “queen” move for Lopez.

Oh wow. Jessie, didn’t your mother raise you better. How can you talk about anyone like that? Especially someone who has never done a thing to you? You should respect your fellow woman, and save that anger for someone who actually impacts your life.

Ellen September 12th, 2008

Tim Gunn is one person who should be much more famous than he is. J Lo not so much.

Ellen September 12th, 2008

So Sara, you’re saying Jessie should save her anger for her own relatives? In my opinion it’s a lot healthier, both for your psyche and for your relationships, to let loose on strangers once in a while. Especially when the stranger will never hear about it, and wouldn’t believe it if she did.

I love Tim Gunn. I’ve always thought that he would pick the best designer since he has such a background with fashion design.

Jessie~
Sounds like someone’s jealous (hmmmmm)

For Pete’s sake get a life!!!!!!!

Pam September 12th, 2008

Jessie, sounds to me like you’re jealous. Thou dost protest tooooooo much.

C September 12th, 2008

Jessie - are we just a TAD BIT JEALOUS here?… You sound very upset for something as small as this, not to mention the tremendous immaturity on your part to put down babies like that.

Dita September 12th, 2008

Yes, I agree, get some manners Jessie, you don’t even know Jennifer Lopez, to talk like that, what’s wrong with you? You sound like you have no life and you’re hating!! Get a life!! You wish you could live her life. P.S. and her kids don’t look like aliens, HATER!!!!
