With the Dancing with the Stars season 7 premiere just days away, one thing actor Ted McGinley won’t be counting on is support from his former Faith and Hope costars Faith Ford and Kelly Ripa.
The actresses, who played his wife Faith and her soap-opera star sister Hope on the ABC sitcom with McGinley, “have had a field day with me! I have to keep them separated,” says McGinley. “We’ve all been laughing because we know (dancing) is not my forte.”
Keeping Ripa away from the ballroom is a goal of McGinley’s, as is keeping her far from his dance partner, Inna Brayer.
“I’m never going to let Kelly talk to Inna until it’s all over because Kelly will fill her soul and brain with terrible things about me, things that will just weigh her down,” says McGinley, who decided to do the show after talking to actor pal Steve Guttenberg, a season 6 contestant.
“Steve loved it. He said, ‘These (dancers) are like Ferraris. They’re emotional, they’re passionate and they are world class!’ ” McGinley explains. “The first day I was watching Inna do her choreography and she was whirling around, I thought, ‘God, they really are Ferraris!’ And then she gets me, the Karmann Ghia [car] with one wheel. Now I understand poor Monica Seles. I am the Monica Seles of this season!” – Monica Rizzo
