Mary McDonnell to Join Grey’s Anatomy

It looks like Mary McDonnell is trading the Oval Office for a stint at Seattle Grace.

McDonnell, who plays President Laura Roslin on Battlestar Galactica, is joining Grey’s Anatomy for a multi-episode guest arc, ABC has confirmed.

Though her character’s identity remains a mystery for now, McDonnell, a two-time Oscar nominee and Golden Globe nominee, is no stranger to the Hollywood medical community: She was nominated for an Emmy for guest starring on ER in 2002.

News of McDonnell’s casting was first reported by Battlestar Galactica fan site Galactica Sitrep.

Not really … she’s not like Addison at all. If you are familiar with her previous roles you’d know she’s a very established actress. I’m wondering if she’ll be an antagonist to one of the main characters. Maybe a patient role with a battle with cancer as on BSG? ha.

I have absolutely no idea what kind of character Mary McDonnell will play when she comes on to Grey’s, but I look forward to seeing her on there, this sounds like fun!

she also played a doctor on a different show “er” that was more of a comedy. and george clooney was on that one too!
