Julianne Hough undergoes an appendectomy on Tuesday – and wants to hit the dance floor within days.
“Everything’s okay,” the two-time Dancing With the Stars champ said on Monday night’s show, where she performed a samba with partner Cody Linley. “I’m going to hopefully be back, if everything goes as planned, next week.”
Host Tom Bergeron joked: “Only Julianne could say, ‘I’m having my appendix out, and I’ll be back in a week.’”
While Hough, 20, recovers, Edyta Sliwinska will take her place with Linley, who says: “I’m sad that I’m not going to be with Julianne, but I’m happy that I’m with Edyta.”
Hough was hospitalized last week with stomach pains, then diagnosed with endometriosis, requiring removal of her appendix.
Endometriosis, a relatively common-but often painful-medical condition found in 5 percent to 10 percent of women, is the development of uterine-lining tissue outside the uterus on the surfaces of organs, such as the appendix, in the pelvis or abdomen. — Mike Fleeman
