Another season of The Amazing Race is heading into the final stretch and it will be another season without an all-female winning team. A quagmire in a dirt field of flying powdered paint derailed Kelly and Christy, the spunky 20-something divorcees from Texas, and they were sent home from New Delhi, India, on Sunday’s episode after finishing last. Much of the episode’s drama came from the usual suspects: Terence whined, Ken and Tina fought, and Kelly and Christy sniped at the competition. So, it was the one-liners that stood out this week. Here’s a list of the best quotes from Sunday’s leg of the Race. – Nicholas White
“That is so India.”
– While riding around New Delhi in a cab, Sarah and Terence’s watched a man, woman and baby riding on a motorcycle together. What Sarah means when she says, “So India” is anyone’s guess. But, it doesn’t sound great. It’s like saying, “That is so 2006.”
“If you make out with Andrew, I have to make out with Dan.”
– Kelly and Christy, before their short-sighted strategy took them down, joked about the boys’ physical awkwardness behind their backs. But they agreed: Andrew, because he looks different, would be fun to kiss and Dan is more repellent.
“Be careful, I don’t want to smear my makeup too much.”
– After Starr gets out of the powdered paint war (which leaves Kelly in tears) relatively clean, she tells brother Nick not to wipe her semi-paint-covered face too much.
“We’ll find another one.”
– When Kelly and Christy pull up to the paint war, they mistakenly send their taxi away, which ends up costing them more time (and possibly the Race). Their need for a car came at the worst time — when both were exhausted from being pelted with paint.
“Who’s your girl?” “You are. I mean, I am.”
– Was it a Freudian slip that Sarah told Terence that he was his own girlfriend? At least Sarah acknowledges on some level what she’s dealing with. Whatever it was, this was the show’s funniest moment.
“There’s no way. I can’t do it. I’ll seriously die.”
– When Kelly returns empty-handed to the sidelines from the never-ending paint war after slipping, she is reduced to a pile of emotions. Stained black from paint shots to the face, she doesn’t think she can go on and even has to blow paint flecks from her nose into a towel.
“Stop it, stop it! Stupid a—-. What a bunch of morons.”
– When Tina is pelted on the sidelines, she shifts gears quickly to survival mode, yelling at the kids who are covering her in paint because she has nowhere to go until Ken returns with the clue.
“I feel like it’s underneath the seeds. Do you want to go in here?”
– Terence doesn’t realize it, but he personifies boyish fear, suggesting Sarah dig through a bird’s area for the next clue. He also suggested trying a path and told Sarah to do it with God’s spirit.
“I haven’t seen a damn thing. I don’t even know what power lines we’re looking for.”
– In true form, Nick lies to Dallas, not leading on what he knows about the stunt. But Starr (Nick’s sister) likes Dallas, and the “bleary eyed” wire stunt is a tricky one, so they decide to play together.
“I think it’s really down to the wire, and we’re afraid we’re last.”
– Famous last words, when Dan offered to team up with Kelly and Christy for “bleary eyed.” Their greed cost them the Race.
