It was Thanksgiving on the Upper East Side again, and even though the holiday called for family time, that didn’t mean there wasn’t for games. After a brief disappearance, a shaggy-haired hottie was spotted back in his old stomping grounds. Nate Archibald (Chase Crawford) couldn’t stay in Brooklyn forever. Unfortunately, his wanted father was also back. The captain surprised his son after school and convinced him that he wanted to do the right thing and invited Nate and his mother to start a new life with him in the Dominican Republic. Nate seemed ready to take the plunge — it beats suffering through a New York winter without heat — until he rad into Vanessa (Jessica Szohr), Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) — and an FBI agent in Brooklyn. There, Nate rekindled his friendships and decided to turn his dad in. In the end, the prince returned to his castle and to his old ways — drinking in the back of the limo with Chuck.
Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) is not the type of girl who shares her toys or her boys, but with her artist childhood sweetheart Aaron Rose (John Patrick Amedori) she hasn’t had much of a choice. This week, Aaron finally came to his senses and chose Serena. The “sober” artist also required his ladylove refrain from alcohol and help guide him down the path to righteousness. And just like that, Serena found herself in another relationship that required she lie about who she really is.
Quick question: How long until Serena is caught knocking back a glass of champ?
Little Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen) was still trying to play the starving artist, though her new digs seemed to suggest otherwise. The delinquent teen traded Brooklyn for the Palace Hotel, claiming a place in the Bass/Van der Woodsen household. But when Lily (Kelly Rutherford) returned, Jenny’s carefree existence was put on pause. Teaming up with old flame (Jenny’s dad) Rufus Humphrey (Matthew Settle), Lily and Rufus finally convinced Jenny to go home, but not before a dreaded run-in with Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester).
Just asking: Was Blair jealous of Jenny’s family support?
Jenny isn’t the only one who found her way back to Brooklyn. After catching Bart spying on her kids and keeping “secret folders,” Lily packed up her troops and brought them over the bridge to break bread for Thanksgiving with the Humphreys. Vanessa also joined the party (sans Serena), where she and Jenny finally kissed and made up. But Blair’s ways have rubbed off on Vanessa, who spied an unopened letter Nate sent to Jenny and pocketed it.
Speaking of Blair: Cyrus Rose’s move-in continued to get worse. When he threatened to change the Waldorf family traditions, Blair freaked out and bailed on Thanksgiving. She spent the better part of the day walking around with her maid Dorota until she happened upon a crying, freezing, pitiful Jenny. Blair admitted to wishing her mom was more like Rufus and, as if on cue, Eleanor showed up to bring Blair and Dorota home, where she got the best surprise ever — her dad! Even though Eleanor is marrying the gnome, Blair’s dad came back to continue the Thanksgiving tradition. But where was his hunky boyfriend? And was Dorota’s ring tone “I’m a Slave 4 U” by Britney Spears? – Andrea DeSimone
Tell us: How much longer will Aaron and Serena last? Should Vanessa give Jenny Nate’s letter? Will Lily and Rufus get back together?
