Love and anger were in the air on Wisteria Lane during Sunday’s episode of Desperate Housewives. Mike admitted he was falling for Katherine and Susan realized she should give independence a try after getting locked in a basement with Edie. Meanwhile, Bree butted heads with her future son-in-law, Gabby had a showdown with her kids and Lynette reconciled with her mother. – Carrie Bell
Bree
When Andrew’s boyfriend criticized Bree for emasculating Orson, she acted passive-aggressive with Alex at the barbeque. “You can make your point and still be nice,” Alex told her. She jabbed back, “You know what else would be nice. Showing gratitude when people have been generous with you. I bought you a house. You’d think you’d show me some respect. It was a fairly grand gesture on my part.” But he did not back down easily. “Yes, and apparently one that comes with strings,” he said, before declining the present and storming out. Later, Bree met with Alex told him that she appreciated having someone around who could call her out on her behavior.
Susan
Susan accidentally locked Edie and herself in the basement of Andre’s new house after Edie confronted her about stealing her thunder with her relocation news. While down there, Edie made timeline to prove to Susan that she is too dependent on men. When the truth hit too close to home, she lashed out at Edie for conquering more than 1,000 men. “It’s true. I enjoyed the ’80s,” Edie said with smirk. After a slap, a push and tears, they were rescued by the exterminator and Susan decided to put the kibosh on the move. What happens in the basement stays in the basement, but they did come to an understanding about each other and themselves.
Meanwhile, Katherine threatened to move in an attempt to trick Mike into committing further. He was his usual dense self until Dave asked him if he was still in love with Susan. Mike admitted that he thought he was falling in love with Katherine, but only came to that conclusion when she threatened to leave. It was obvious the disclosure got the cogs turning in Dave’s twisted mind. He sent Katherine a “don’t go” bouquet and Mike claimed it was his play.
Edie
Dave, on his way to a motel after Edie kicked him out, was worried his revenge scheme was in danger when fate intervened. Mike, object of said plan, offered him a place to stay until he got back on his feet. Edie called the girls over to console her, but Susan stole the show when she announced she planned to skip town with Jackson. After much reflecting, Edie asked Dave if they could give it another try. She reasoned, “What we have is real and I’m not ready to throw it away. I’m at the point in my life where I could use a happy ending.”
Gabrielle
Carlos started his new job and the kids weren’t taking it very well. Gabby was happy to be in the money again until the kids started disobeying her. Juanita eventually told Gabby she loved Carlos more, and that sent Gabby into hysterics. Her handyman gave her some sound advice. “Fear is the foundation of all good parenting,” he told her. She borrowed him and his forceful voice to intimidate the girls into behaving, which Carlos didn’t like. That led to another fight about the job. “I just wanted a normal life,” she explained when he accused her of forcing him into that career. Carlos reminded, “Dad’s unhappy at work. Mom’s at home with screaming kids. Guess what? You got one.”
Lynette
A neighbor told Lynette that Porter was staying with her mom at the home for seniors. When Lynette got there to collect him, he was gone. Lynette tried to tell her how much trouble Porter was in, but she wouldn’t give up his new location. After witnessing an accident on the way home, Lynette decided to fake a crash to force Porter out of hiding. The judge threw out the case and Lynette went to tell her mom the good news. She and mom had a heart to heart, which basically ended with a promise: If her mom let go of her anger, Lynette would visit at least twice a week.
