The kids of West Bev were hot. They were sweltering. Actually, a heat wave had taken over Los Angeles, and the air conditioner at school broke down. Not a complete buzz-kill, Principal Wilson canceled class for a day — giving the students a reason to throw an impromptu beach party in January.
And the beach is where seriously heated conversations took place. After fainting in chemistry class and fueling rumors that she was using drugs again, Adriana (Jessica Lowndes) decided it was the right time to tell her boyfriend Navid (Michael Steger) that she’s pregnant. Adrianna also told Naomi (Annalynne McCord) her secret, and Naomi promised to stand by her no matter what she decides to do with the baby. Unfortunately, the news didn’t go over so well with Navid, who ended it with Adriana because he can’t deal with being in a relationship with a girlfriend who’s having another guy’s baby.
Meanwhile, not everything was golden between lovebirds Silver (Jessica Stroup) and Dixon (Tristan Wilds). Her cynical and negative attitude was beginning to bother Dixon, who was mocked for joining the school choir. So in a strange move, Dixon decided to tell her that he loves her. That’s when things got really AWKWARD. Silver’s reponse: um, “thank you.”
And finally, Annie (Shenae Grimes) and Ethan (Dustin Milligan) turned up the heat on their relationship when Ethan also said those three little words “I love you.” The PDA turned up a notch, too. Unable to keep their hands — or lips — off each other, Annie was going to let Ethan go all the way.
Annie and Ethan ride off into the Palm Springs desert for some alone time. In front of a fire place (wait, isn’t a heat wave supposed to be crippling southern California?), Annie told Ethan she was ready to have sex because she has finally found her “one and only.” Upon hearing those words, Ethan asked “what if we don’t stay together.” So the deed was not done, with Annie heading off to bed alone and Ethan camping out on the couch. The next day at school, Ethan told Annie that he’d been thinking and realized that he wants their first time to be just as special. They won’t be having sex because he’s ready to make love. –Elaine Aradillas
