On Tuesday’s Real Housewives of Orange County, an etiquette class inspired Tamra to throw a high-class fete. With a little too much help from her husband Simon, chef Brian Malarkey (from Top Chef season 3!) and son Ryan — acting as bartender — Tamra welcomed the ladies for multiple courses of fine dining.
Gretchen strutted in first. Feeling guilt over her fiancé’s worsening condition, she tried to forget about her pain and sashayed into the backyard in a low-cut magenta dress. “I was glad to meet Gretchen, she’s a smokin’ hot girl,” Ryan said right away, as he ogled Gretchen from afar.
The other Housewives arrived, and Tamra was quick to pour tequila shots for all her guests. But her proclivity for always keeping Gretchen’s glass full was dully noted. She snickered to Vicki that she was going to get her “naked wasted.”
As the guests took their seats, they each found a catchphrase next to their place cards — except Gretchen, that is. Launching into a brainstorming session, Tamra’s husband Simon found one that stuck: “Greedy.” Ouch. But wounds can easily be healed with more drinks.
Although she was not quite “naked drunk,” Gretchen was getting close to it. From sucking on spoons to screaming, “I’m all about hotness,” and begging for someone to clean her palette, Gretchen became the center of attention (much to Vicki’s dismay). Lynne and Jeana were slightly horrified and tried to stop the flow of tequila.
Ryan soon left his post at the bar (job well done!) and strategically placed himself at Gretchen’s side. Not only was Gretchen into it, so was Tamra! In fact, she continued asking Ryan to give Gretch even more to drink. In an awkward moment, Ryan decided that his mom was hot but that Gretchen was hotter. Dejected, Tamra left the lovebirds alone, telling the rightfully concerned Lynne (who was offering to take her friend home) that Gretchen “will be staying here.”
Before anyone could counter Tamra’s prophecy, the odd couple slunk out of the room, with Ryan asking Gretchen for a hug. From behind a closed door, we soon learned that Gretchen is full of contradictions. One minute she was telling Ryan, “You can’t hug me and you can’t make out with me because I’m engaged to a very nice man,” and the next, telling him he’s cute and, “You totally turn me on.” Unfortunately for viewers, the episode was “To be continued … “
