MTV is set to premiere a new Hills-style reality drama. But instead of catfights at hotspots like Les Deux, the action is more likely to go down during a dance-off in the school cafeteria.
Taking the Stage follows five high school seniors at the School for the Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati, Ohio, which boasts former students like Sarah Jessica Parker, Carmen Electra and Nick Lachey, who also happens to be the executive producer of the show.

The first episode seems to center on beautiful ballet dancer Jasmine, who catches the eye of a new student at the school named Tyler, who dances hip-hop. But Jasmine’s BFF Malik is the leader of the school’s reigning hip-hop crew — and doesn’t take too kindly to the competition.
Meanwhile, singer-songwriter Mia is putting together a performance before an upcoming talent show, which will be judged by talent scouts and label executives who could give her her first big break.
