On Wednesday’s Idol episode, America said goodbye to Jasmine Murray and Jorge Nuñez and was introduced to a brand new rule in the competition called the Judges’ Save.
With the new rule, Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi can save a contestant from elimination even if they received the fewest number of votes the night before — as long as the four of them agree unanimously and it’s before the competition is down to the final five contestants. If and when the judges do save someone, giving them a chance to compete again, two finalists are up for elimination the following week. The Judges’ Save can be used only once during the season.
