No matter who becomes the next American Idol, semi-finalist Danny Gokey has a vision for what he wants to do next. “I would like to start my own line of glasses,” Danny told PEOPLE during his visit home to Milwaukee, Wis. “I would like to be the visionary.”
Since the show began, Danny, who owns more than 40 pairs of frames, hasn’t had time to think extensively about what his line might look like — other than they might say “Gokey” on the side — but he wants to get started “as soon as I get off the show.”
The top three finalists — Danny, Adam Lambert and Kris Allen — will sing Tuesday (8 p.m. ET), and one of them will be voted off Wednesday during the live elimination show on FOX. The season 8 champ will be announced May 20.
Danny, 29, doesn’t wear glasses to be trendy. He actually needs them to see well, and has been sporting a different pair of funky frames each week, something that hasn’t gone unnoticed by fans. During his visit home, supporters held up signs including some shaped to look like a pair of rectangular-framed glasses and others shouted, “I love your glasses!” Danny says he has tried contact lenses before but they’re not his thing. “I’m a glasses person,” he says.
But until the competition ends, Danny’s focusing on singing. After that, though, look out! – Hilary Shenfeld
