How I Met Your Mother

How I Met Your Mother Celebrates 100 Episodes!

November 20, 2009

How I Met Your Mother star Josh Radnor has a confession to make: After filming 99 episodes of CBS’s hit sitcom, he still doesn’t know who his character’s future wife will be.

“To the people on the street who come up to me thinking I have some kind of secret information about this,“ he said on the show’s set before beginning rehearsals for the show’s 100th episode, “I do not.”

Amidst speculation that Radnor’s character Ted Mosby may ultimately end up with a character played by Rachel Bilson, who will have a guest arch on the show beginning with the 100th episode on Jan. 11, Alyson Hannigan offered her word that the show would begin to make headway towards finding The One. “This is the closest he’s ever been,” she says.

And if the mother isn’t Rachel Bilson after all? Costar Jason Segel offered a casting idea: “I think it would be fun to have Hillary Clinton as the mother.”

But that’s beside the point, adds Neil Patrick Harris. “You can’t forget the show is called How I Met Your Mother … The show is about the long journey about how one finds romance, and how it’s determined to be the long-lasting one through the eyes of these people.” –Lisa Ingrassia

November 20, 2009

Jennifer Lopez fans have another reason to catch her comeback performance live at the 2009 American Music Awards on Sunday. That’s because when the “Fresh Out the Oven” singer takes the stage, she’ll be moving to choreography by So You Think You Can Dance’s Emmy-nominated husband and wife team Tabitha and Napoleon D’umo — or as they’re affectionately known in the dance community, Nappytabs.

“It is an exciting thing for us and one of the things we’ve always wanted to do,” Napoleon tells PEOPLE of their chance to work with one of their longtime dance idols.

“You can expect to be entertained and you won’t be disappointed,” assures Tabitha, who has been teaching dance professionally with Napoleon for 15 years (11 of those as husband and wife).

The pair, who has worked with stars like Beyoncé and Missy Elliott, is known for an innovative lyrical hip-hop style that has garnered them quite a following since they joined the FOX show in 2008. And that following includes Lopez and her husband Marc Anthony. Read the rest of this entry »

The Real Housewives of Orange County

Real Housewives: Bye Bye, Jeana! Hello, Alexis!

November 20, 2009

It’s the end of an era! In her fifth season, Jeana Keough is leaving The Real Housewives of Orange County and said her goodbyes on Thursday’s episode. Her reasons? She’s fed up with all the drama that comes with being a Real Housewife and said her family and real estate career demand her attention.

How can she be fed up with the drama when we love it so much? It’s probably not as much fun when you’re in it and, although she’d been on the sidelines of “Tamra vs. Gretchen,” she and Vicki were starting to get into it. With her kids at home and her divorce almost final, Jeana decided to skip Tamra’s private shopping party to barbecue at home with her sons Shane and Colton and daughter Kara. They looked like a happy family and Jeana, cleaning up after it was all over, seemed satisfied to step out of the spotlight. Of course, Housewives come and go, so don’t be surprised if this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Jeana. Read the rest of this entry »

Oh My Grey’s: Unhappy Holidays from Seattle Grace!

November 20, 2009

Watching the docs of Grey’s Anatomy navigate the emotional minefield of the winter holiday season probably made some folks at home feel better about their own dysfunctional families. And just in time for Thanksgiving! Thank goodness some lives were saved or all of this week’s ‘OMG’ moments would have been downers. –Carrie Bell

Family Time: McSteamy found out he was a father when an 18-year-old girl named Sloan showed up. He let her move in, but didn’t know how to relate to her. He felt old and guilty (he’d given a fling who got pregnant $200 and assumed she got an abortion), but after more than a month, Lexie threatened to withhold sex if he didn’t “try to be her dad.” When Sloan thought he was going to kick her out, she said, “I can tell you really don’t like me and your girlfriend’s freaked out because I’m hotter than her, but I’m pregnant … I don’t have anywhere else to go.” Read the rest of this entry »

Stephen’s Survivor Strategy Blog: Russell Knows When to Hold ‘Em

November 20, 2009

“The cowardice of the man who is bent on returning alive … leads to capture.” –Sun Tzu, The Art of War

Could somebody else do something smart, please? As much as I love Russell’s gameplay, I’m almost getting tired of talking about him. In this week’s episode, he finds another immunity idol, convinces John to break ranks with Galu, and sends his nemesis Laura home. For keeping his alliance strong and breaking the opposition, Russell wins yet another Fishy.

The episode begins with Galu reeling from last week’s blindside and Shambo literally cackling with glee. She reports to Russell that Laura thinks he’s “ruined everything.”

“I ruined everything? What did she think I’m here for?” he responds. Read the rest of this entry »

Project Runway

Project Runway Picks a Winner!

November 20, 2009

Like Heidi Klum said, “There can only be one winner of Project Runway,” but on Thursday night’s finale, Carol Hannah Whitfield, Irina Shabayeva and Althea Harper all showed impressive collections under the tents of Bryant Park.

Carol Hannah’s collection, which she said was based on “gothic architecture and fairy tales,” earned points from judges Klum, Michael Kors (glad he could make it!), Nina Garcia and the delightful Susie Menkes, fashion editor for the International Herald Tribune. The impeccable tailoring, which was mixed with structured draping, and her use of difficult fabric were what struck the judges. They also praised her for her use of color — especially her 13th look, a sweeping teal gown, which was put together in the final days — in a runway show of mostly blacks and grays. Their only complaint, the judges said, was that her collection was not as cohesive as the others.

“My collection is really about New York,” Irina said before her portion of the runway show. The native New Yorker put together 13 looks based on her idea that when women step out into the city, they need to shield themselves from its elements — but shouldn’t have to do it with plain and tacky armor. Instead, she sent oversized knits, pleated, almost scale-like dresses, slick leather vests and big cozy coats down the runway. While Michael Kors cut her down a bit, telling her, “warrior woman is not a new character” in the fashion world, the judges said her collection was “well-made, modern, with an edge.” Nina especially liked the detailed T-shirts that were revealed beneath the knit armor at the end of the runway. And Kors said she told a story with her collection and had the “best sense of showmanship,” citing her use of helmets on her models. Their big complaint, however, was her obvious overuse of black. America's Next Top Model

Top Model Winner Ready to Model But Not to Date

November 19, 2009

Nicole Fox, of Louisville, Colo., is the newly crowned winner of America’s Next Top Model after beating out 13 other hopefuls in the show’s first competition for petite models only.

Fox, a self-described dork who is just 5′7″ (diminutive in runway standards), is thrilled with the honor but a little overwhelmed given that Top Model was her first real experience away from home.

“Coming into the competition, it was pretty obvious to everyone that I didn’t have the most self-confidence, the most presence of all the girls out there,” she says. “I never say the right things. I’ve never [ever] had a boyfriend.”

But time and again, the 18-year-old proved in stunning, high-fashion photos that her look and her instincts were spot-on, winning several of the challenges in the show’s 13th cycle.

“It seemed like the judges saw me being able to do [high] fashion as well as commercial modeling,” she said. “But beyond that, I suspect that the fact that I’m a more shy, quiet person helped me in that Tyra Banks and the judges knew that a lot of girls out there could relate to my personality.” Read the rest of this entry »

Top Chef’s Eli: I Deserved to Go Home

November 19, 2009

Eli Kirshtein went for the gold — but was cut before making it into the top 4 on Wednesday’s Top Chef. The Atlanta-based chef gave the final challenge — competing in a culinary Olympics — his all, but ultimately served some undercooked lamb that sent him packing. Calling to discuss his fate, Kirshtein said he knew that it was his time to go and also opened up about tensions in the kitchen with Robin. –Brian Orloff

How daunting was it competing in a Bocuse d’Or — and serving that huge panel of chefs and diners?
All the other [challenges], you drop off your food, say, “Here’s what it is,” and you walk away. This one, you’re in front of a huge panel of people and you’re presenting the food and serving it, so it was an amazingly intense in that respect. Much more than who the judges were — because by that point in the competition you just become numb to the caliber [of judges]. You’re just more nervous that you have to stand there and talk.

Was it a fair final challenge? It required you all to cook in a style that was so different from what’s expected on Top Chef. Read the rest of this entry »

So You Think You Can Dance: Inside the Elimination

November 19, 2009

Whether his delivery was too harsh or not, it seems the majority of So You Think You Can Dance contestants got Nigel Lythgoe’s message loud and clear last week when he said he was “angry” after elimination night’s solos.

“The show was an improvement from last week [and] the solos were an improvement from last week,” Adam Shankman told PEOPLE backstage Wednesday night. “It’s kicking in now.”

Despite Mollee and Nathan’s jazz number, which PEOPLE.com blogger tWitch said demonstrated they “had chemistry and were so on point with each other,” the couple still ended up in the bottom three.

Nigel called that a possible “backlash” from last week, but said this week their routine (and his attitude) were much improved. “[Nathan] still seems a little arrogant,” Nigel explained. “They’re not voting against him, they just didn’t vote for him.”

Still, after their solos, the judges kept the couple, deciding instead to send home contemporary dancer Channing Cooke, 18, and hip-hopper Kevin Hunte, 23. Read the rest of this entry »
