Hilary Duff is coming to start some drama on the Upper East Side.

The singer and actress is joining the cast of Gossip Girl for several episodes, reports EW.com.

Duff will play Olivia Burke, a famous film star in search of the normal college experience. Her school of choice will be New York University, where Blair (Leighton Meester), Dan (Penn Badgley) and Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) were also accepted.

And in an excellent twist, Olivia will be rooming with Vanessa! Will they be friends? How will Blair react? And could she catch the eye of a certain Brooklynite?

Duff’s first episode is set to air Oct. 5.

The grades are in, prom is over and a new chapter is about to start for our favorite Upper East Siders — but not before Gossip Girl handed out her superlatives.

Leave it to Serena to become even more famous after her arrest. Even though S had officially made the jump from Page Six to the cover of the New York Post, Gossip Girl still deemed her “officially irrelevant.” And though Serena couldn’t wait to say goodbye to high school, being irrelevant wasn’t something this blond could handle.

In her quest to expose Gossip Girl, the vicious blogger unearthed all the year’s hidden dirt including Dan’s closet romp with the teacher, Blair and Uncle Bass’s rockin’ New Year’s Eve, Chuck’s detour to Brooklyn and even Little J’s topless photo shoot. Thanks, S. But like all good frenemies, the crew made up and S packed for a summer abroad — to look for her father.

The reigning Queen B was ready to put high school behind her. She dropped the mean girls and her high school boyfriend and had her sights set on her future — with Chuck. And just as he was finally going to say the L-word, Gossip Girl unleashed her claws. (more…)

Before Serena van der Woodsen, came Lily Rhodes!

Prior to coming into her trust fund and marrying rich men for a living, Lily (played by the adorable Brittany Snow) was a rebellious California teenage who could have given Serena a run for her money. Complete with big hair, neon, too-much tulle and leggings, Lily left a young Cece to ride the bus and hang out with grungy rocker types after getting expelled from prep school. And just like her daughter, Lily didn’t believe in following the rules. From ditching her Porsche filled with Louis Vuitton luggage to crashing a Hollywood party and finally landing in jail, Lily is a lot more like Serena than she let on. So does that mean Serena is going to give up her trust fund for a more “normal” way of life? Doubt it! (more…)

On the Upper East Side, there is more to worry about than whether or not your new boyfriend is still sleeping with his ex-girlfriend. For girls like Serena, said boyfriend might be after your rich mother’s — and her friends’ — money.

Last week, Gabriel charmed the pants and wallets off of Manhattan society. This week, however, he was caught red handed. Like all crooks, Gabriel pointed the finger at ex-girlfriend Poppy because, let’s be honest, he wouldn’t have the brains to bring Internet access to children in third world countries.

When your trust fund is at stake, all measures must be taken, even if it means trusting it to Georgina Sparks.

While no one was happy when Georgina showed up in the Bass/van der Woodsen home, no one could deny she was the girl to get Poppy locked up. The only problem: her new godly ways. After some careful primping from the Queen B herself, Georgina was turned from Jesus-loving hippie back to socialite-in-the-making. Off to the Russian Tea Room the troops went, where Georgina would get Poppy to admit to the scandal. Unfortunately, Poppy wasn’t the one who left in a squad car — Serena was. (more…)

They reunited to perform live for the first time in five years on the Today show, now No Doubt is making its acting debut on Gossip Girl. The popular ’90s band is heading back to the ’80s as a fictitious group called Snowed Out in a flashback scene to 1983. The band will perform the song “Stand and Deliver,” which was originally performed by Adam & the Ants, on an episode airing May 11. Watch a sneak peak now!

Butter, Bungelow … it’s easy to get Manhattan’s Bs confused. But in the world of Gossip Girl, everyone should know the difference between a B-list watering hole and a VIP hotspot. So why didn’t Serena’s new boy toy? Wouldn’t you remember where you met the Page Six regular?

On the surface, Gabriel seemed to be a perfect match. He’s older, dreamy and working hard to start his own business. He might know Wall Street, but he certainly didn’t know Serena and her crew. Not only was he “confused” about where he met S (Butter was closed the night in question), but he was still seeing Poppy. Luckily for Serena, she had Chuck and Blair on her side. And when the Queen B is destined to ruin you, it is only a matter a time.

After a night of spying, Blair discovered Gabriel leaving Serena to jump into Poppy’s arms. Serena might have believed Gabriel, but Blair and Chuck didn’t — and the only one who knew the truth was Georgina.

She’s back! Michelle Trachtenberg returns to Gossip Girl on April 27 (8 p.m. ET, on the CW) to stir up some trouble on the Upper East Side as the deliciously evil Georgina Sparks. And the actress admits she loves playing the bad girl.

“The nasty b—- is back in town,” Trachtenberg told PEOPLE during a recent interview. “It’s super fun to play the bad girl. I love bringing out the inner nasty.”

For Trachtenberg, 23, pulling out her claws and unleashing a fierce, wicked side is a “challenge,” but she says she has a pinch of evil buried in her. “Every woman secretly has an inner b—- deep down inside — including myself,” the actress said. “But with the scenarios that Georgina is in and the lines from the script, the evil naturally comes out and flows really well for me.”

But don’t expect her onscreen persona’s evil and manipulative ways to rub off on her real personality. “I don’t take the nastiness off set,” the star of 17 Again said, “but sometimes when the paparazzi get in my face, Georgina comes out.”

Gossip Girl is back! After the van der Woodsens and Humphreys cleaned up the remains of Jenny’s raging sweet 16 — sans Serena — life on the Upper East Side has returned to normal. With one society wedding and a disastrous Passover, though, the episode was screaming, “OMG.”

Serena was back from her trip to Spain and apparently now a “Mrs.” After too much Rioja and a night of skinny-dipping Serena said “sí” with Poppy’s boyfriend. According to Serena, Poppy and Gabriel broke up after just a few days and instead of heading back to the Big Apple with her heartbroken friend, Serena stayed in Spain and got hitched!

Seeking an annulment, S crashed the Waldorf-Cyrus Passover to talk to Blair’s stepdad, but when Gabriel tracked her down, an unlikely cater waiter comes to her aid: Dan! That’s right, Humphrey took a job as a waiter to help his dad pay for college, but when Rufus, Lily and Serena showed up, Dan ditched the job to be Serena’s stand in boyfriend. (more…)

In high school, all it takes is a single party to re-invent yourself, and on the Upper East Side, the best way to do it is with a Page Six-worthy soiree. It might have been little Jenny’s sweet 16, but Serena never misses a chance to steal the limelight — the new Serena that is. After running into socialite Poppy on the way to school, Serena realized that her life is — well, dull. To spice things up she decided to throw Jenny the ultimate society bash.

But Jenny had plans of her own. Arriving to the van der Woodsen/ Bass abode with homemade chili and board games, Jenny was more than a little surprised to find the mean girls from school, New York nightlife photographer Patrick McMullan and Poppy all assembled. To ruin Serena’s affair, Jenny sent an invite to Gossip Girl. And where there is free booze, high schoolers will come in droves. After the police were called and the parents came home and Jenny didn’t take the blame, Serena left her “dull” family and rejoined the socialites. And when you party in the big leagues, the fun never ends. So, Serena ditched school and life and headed to Spain on a private jet with her high-class friends. (more…)

OMG! Are Blair and Nate getting back together?

After her dreams of Yale were crushed, the Upper East Side’s Queen B spent Monday’s Gossip Girl episode trying to destroy the old Blair. By hanging out with playboy (and Chuck Bass enemy) Carter, Blair seemed to be on a fast track to rehab. From all night partying to stealing designer sunglasses, it was clear that Blair needed some help. Enter Chuck and Serena to try and save her. But even though they gave Carter a one-way ticket out of the Upper East Side, Blair was still set on ruining her life.

And the best place to fall from society is at a society party of course. With Nate’s dad in jail, his mother’s wealthy relatives welcomed Nate back with open arms. With girlfriend Vanessa and pal Dan in tow, Nate introduce the Brooklyn kids to his world. Blair also made her way up to the compound where she knocked back glasses of champagne and tried to get Chuck into bed.
