New York Goes to Hollywood: Don’t Mess with the HBIC

August 12, 2008

After starting her 30-day quest to become an actress on the premiere episode of VH1’s New York Goes to Hollywood, Tiffany “New York” Pollard needs to find a manager. On Monday’s episode, she scores a meeting with talent manager Chuck Binder, who tells her he wants her to be his Queen Latifah. Of course, New York — fresh from Barry’s Bootcamp, where she started working off the weight she packed on since I Love New York 2 — hopes he doesn’t want her to get any bigger.

Trouble brews when New York’s personal assistant (doesn’t every struggling actress have one?) Lizza (like Minnelli with two “z”s) tries to chime in during her interview with Chuck. “She is like a showbiz mom,” New York says to the camera. “B—-, you just my personal assistant. You better fetch me drinks!’”

The first audition Chuck sends her on is to play Condoleezza Rice in a movie. (Can you imagine New York in the White House? “Look, George, I need a sandwich — NOW. And get me a Coke, too!”) Struggling over words like “legislation” and “authoritarian,” it turns out that Condi isn’t the right fit for New York, but at the audition she meet her new nemesis, an actress named Kelly. Source: Tailor Made Broke Things Off with New York

July 9, 2008

Amid reports that Tiffany “New York” Pollard broke up with George “Tailor Made” Weisgerber, a source tells PEOPLE exclusively that it was actually the other way around.

“In January, George had a serious discussion with Tiffany,” says the source. “He had come to the conclusion that he couldn’t handle the relationship anymore. It was too distracting to his life, his career and his daughter. He couldn’t consistently be involved in that kind of drama.”

A spokesperson for Weisgerber would not comment on his personal life, but said, “He’s very happy.”

So what went wrong for the happy couple, who got engaged in December 2007 on the finale of I Love New York 2?

“Their lives are very different,” says the source. “When they first got back from L.A. after they filmed I Love New York 2, everything was great.”

But eventually Weisgerber, who quit his job at Calvin Klein to go on the reality show, had to get back to work. “He said he almost felt guilty that she was home alone,” says the source of Weisgerber, who landed a new job with Mark Ecko. “She wasn’t used to dating someone with a traditional 9-to-5 job.”

Dressed as Dorothy and Marilyn Monroe, New York Goes to Hollywood

June 26, 2008

After getting double dissed on Flavor of Love, Tiffany ‘New York’ Pollard transformed rejection into her own reality series with I Love New York. But finding love with Tailor Made (George Weisgerber) on I Love New York 2 was not enough. New York is ready for a new challenge. Get ready for New York Goes to Hollywood, which follows the leading lady as she attempts to put her name on Tinsel Town’s A-list by becoming a serious actress. What about Weisgerber? Although he told PEOPLE in March, “Tiffany and I are very happy together,” New York will leave her love behind and go west to woo industry professionals in her quest for a movie star career. “We will make this work,” Tailor Made said of their relationship. “I’ll visit her as much as I can.”

VH1 just released the first promotional pictures for New York Goes Hollywood, which premieres Aug. 4 (10 p.m. ET). “New York like you’ve never seen her before,” the network’s site reads. That would be as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz (left) and as Marilyn Monroe (right). –Madeleine Desmond

Romance Is Strong as New York’s Show Goes On — in Hollywood

March 10, 2008

Tiffany “New York” Pollard is heading to Hollywood — but her romance with George “Tailor Made” Weisgerber will still stay strong back home in N.Y.C., he tells PEOPLE exclusively.

“Her show is going to be a huge success,” Weisberger says of Pollard’s upcoming VH1 reality show, New York Goes To Hollywood, in which she’ll pursue her dream of becoming an A-list actress.

Last week, VH1 said in a statement that “in order to focus on her new mission, New York has to put her last conquest, Tailor Made, on the back burner as she tries to take on Tinsel Town.”

Not so, says Weisgerber. “Tiffany and I are very happy together,” he tells PEOPLE. “We will make this work.”

Weisberger is staying in New York because of his job as an exec with fashion guru Mark Ecko and his 12-year-old daughter, Asia. “I have so much respect for Tiffany and support her career,” he says. “She is very talented and has a great future as an actress.”

His independence is one of the things that drew Pollard to him, he says. “One of the reasons I appealed to her so much is that, unlike a lot of the other guys on the show, I am independent and self-motivated and I have a career and won’t be riding on her coattails.”

Plus, he adds: “I’ll visit her as much as I can.” –K.C. Baker

Panhandler Refuses Charity: Happens Only in New York — and to New York

March 7, 2008

Tiffany Pollard’s fans are pretty savvy, it seems.

When the I Love New York star and her fiancé, George “Tailor Made” Weisgerber, were leaving City Crab on Park Avenue Tuesday night, a man standing outside the popular Manhattan eatery asked them for a dollar, says a source. “The guy started cracking jokes and made New York and Tailor Made laugh, so Tailor Made gave him $5.”

But the man refused the $5, saying he only wanted a dollar from them. “Why would you want a dollar rather than $5?” Weisgerber asked him.

The man’s reply? “If New York signs it for me, it will be worth much more than a dollar.”

New York laughed, signed a dollar bill and gave it to the man. “This could only happen to New York,” says the source. – K.C. Baker

I Love New York Goes Hollywood!

February 20, 2008

Tiffany “New York” Pollard is returning to reality TV but it’s not what you think.

There won’t be an I Love New York 3 because the star, it seems, doesn’t need to search for love after finding it with George “Tailor Made” Weisgerber. But real romance sure isn’t going to stop her from chasing her dreams — in front of the cameras — in a new spin on her reality TV series.

“The season is going to be called ‘New York Loves Hollywood’ and will follow her attempt to become an actress in Los Angeles,” an insider tells New York’s Daily News.

“They are currently trying to cast established industry people in Hollywood to be on the show with her.”

Buddha Still ‘Good Friends’ with New York

February 15, 2008

Tiffany “New York” Pollard walked away from Buddha on VH1’s I Love New York 2′s season finale in December, and into the arms of the amorous Tailor Made. But runner-up Buddha is still friendly with New York, he says, and — believe it or not — is pals with his onetime rival.

“New York and I still talk, we speak now and then,” Buddha (real name: Ezra Masters) told PEOPLE at last weekend’s 5th annual all-star jam session put on by The Roots. “When we see each other, we’re very cordial. We’re good friends, and we developed a real relationship on the show. And contrary to what most people think, Tailor and I still speak, too. Most people think we’re bitter enemies to the end – not at all, not at all.”

Tailor Made (real name: George Weisgerber) proposed to New York in December, and she accepted. “I think it’s a good match,” Buddha (right) says. “I’m not surprised that they’re engaged, and this is something I was telling New York on-camera, off-camera. I believe he was one of the few that was genuinely there for her. I think they’re two nutty bunches of fun. Either they’re going to love each forever or they’re going to kill each other. Either way, they’re going to do it together.”

Since the show, Buddha has taken up motivational speaking to children, posing for a body calendar, and penning a book called Buddha Bible. “Coming out for the urban renaissance man,” he says about the book. “It’s a compilation of quotes from myself and other authors I find have taught me about life. It’s more for people who don’t really have a way, trying to find a way.”

So, would he come back to TV?

“Everybody asks me about doing a Buddha Love or an I Love Buddha-type show,” he says. “I’m really not interested in that. Honestly, unless it’s something that’s helping out people, I’m not interested in doing mindless TV.” – Nicholas White

‘New York’: ‘Tailor Made’ Helped Me Through Sex Tape Scandal

January 16, 2008

Tiffany “New York” Pollard survived her sex tape drama with her usual moxie — and her new fiancé’s love and support.

The I Love New York star is relieved and thrilled that MediaTakeOut.com yanked the grainy, explicit tape from its website. “We understand that New York is now claiming that it’s not her in the tape,” the website says in an editor’s update. “In fairness to New York, the video has been removed.”

Says Pollard: “I’m so happy they pulled it. As I’ve said again and again, it wasn’t me in that tape and this proved it.”

That doesn’t mean the ordeal was easy to endure. When a friend called the VH1 star on Sunday to tell her that the site had posted what it claimed was a sex tape of Pollard, she immediately turned to her Prince Charming — fiancé “Tailor Made” (a.k.a. George Weisgerber). “Oh, my George,” Pollard sighed to PEOPLE in a recent interview. “I told him what happened and he said, ‘I stand by you.’ He didn’t question me. He helped me relax about it.”

Not an easy feat, considering she “blew a gasket” when she learned about the tape. “I was floored,” she said. “I thought, ‘I have to clear this up.’ It saddened me as a woman and as a black woman. (MediaTakeOut.com calls itself ‘the most visited black website in the world.’) I feel violated because it’s not me. If that were me, I would stand by it. They crossed the line.”

Besides the support she got from Weisgerber, who proposed on I Love New York 2’s Jan. 6 reunion show, she dealt with the scandal with her typical “New York” take-no-prisoners attitude. “I’m not going to let this (put) me in a state of being sad or feeling beaten up. I’m gonna be a big girl about it. I’m gonna stay strong.”

Still, she adds: “It’s a disgusting thing to have to go through.” –K.C. Baker

Rep: ‘New York’ Did Not Participate in Sex Tape

January 15, 2008

Tiffany “New York” Pollard is shooting down a website’s claim that it has a sex tape of the I Love New York star.

On Sunday, MediaTakeOut.com released what it says is an explicit tape of the former Flavor of Love star and one of its “readers,” who is unnamed. “According to our reader,” says the website, “he and New York met up at a Miami club a few months ago and the two of them had a … A-HEM … romantic encounter together.”

Not so, Pollard’s rep, Lizzie Grubman, says in a statement. “Tiffany Pollard 100% did not participate in any sex tape of any kind.”

The VH1 star is upset that the grainy tape is circulating around the Internet, says a source close to Pollard. “If she had a sex tape, she would admit to it,” says the source. “That’s her personality. She has nothing to hide. For someone to make a sex tape and say it’s her — when it’s not — is just not right.”

This latest drama comes just weeks after Pollard and “Tailor Made,” a.k.a. George Weisgerber — the winner of her show’s second season — got engaged. “George is upset that this happened to her,” says the source. “But he supports her. He’s so in love with her.” –K.C. Baker

TV Roundup: Tailor Made Still Loves New York

January 10, 2008

• Internet rumors that Tiffany “New York” Pollard and George “Tailor Made” Weisgerber have broken up and that there will be a third season of I Love New York are false. The couple are still together and still plan to make out sloppily in inappropriate settings.

Adrian Grenier is apparently not as slick as his Entourage character when it comes to picking up women. A person who isn’t similar to the character they play on TV? Where have we seen that before? (Cough. The Hills! Cough.)

Simon Cowell says that there are three or four very strong men and women this season. On American Gladiators. He wasn’t talking about American Idol.
