Kenny Loggins’s Son Crosby Wins Rock the Cradle

May 9, 2008

After a long and hard season of MTV’s latest reality show Rock the Cradle, which had rock star offspring going head-to-head in a singing competition, Crosby Loggins came out on top, trumping the other two finalists, Chloe Lattanzi (Olivia Newton-John’s daughter) and Jesse Blaze Snider (Dee Snider’s son).

“It feels very surreal,” admitted Loggins of his win. “My ultimate goal was to get second.” Despite going for a modest second-place finish, Crosby managed to take home the grand prize of $100,000 and a contract with Jive.

During the final three’s last performances (which was attended by another famous singer, Britney Spears), each artist’s legendary musician parent took the stage with them. “That was fun,” says Loggins of performing with his dad Kenny. “It was a little hokey, but every time I sing with him I sing better.”

Britney’s Surprise Visit to Rock the Cradle Finale

May 9, 2008

Thursday night’s Rock the Cradle win was a shock for Kenny Loggins’s son, Crosby (“My ulitmate goal was to come in second!” he told PEOPLE), but there was an even bigger surprise backstage—Britney Spears, who showed up at CBS studios to support her off-and-on manager Larry Rudolph, a judge on the show.

Wearing a brown leather jacket and an animal-print dress, Spears, 26, peered into the audience but opted for a more private seat behind the wings. Flanked by security, the singer texted during performances and played it cool, even when Blaze Snider (Dee’s son) sang a rendition of her hit “…Baby One More Time.”

Rudolph denied requests for a photograph of Spears, who later went to Sur restaurant in L.A. for dinner.

Earlier that day, Spears enjoyed an extended visit with her two sons, Jayden and Sean Preston, the first after being granted extended visitation rights on May 6 at Los Angeles Country Superior Court. “We are so pleased with Britney’s progress,” her parents Jamie and Lynne Spears said in a statement. “We are appreciative of the court’s recognition of this progress.” –Danielle Dubin

Rock the Cradle Judge: Chloe Shouldn’t Win

May 8, 2008

Chloe Lattanzi has improved tremendously as an artist on MTV’s Rock the Cradle, but as the series heads into tonight’s finale (MTV, May 8, at 10 p.m. ET/PT), uber-judge Larry Rudolph is hoping that she’s not standing in the winner’s circle.

“She’s so much better because of this show — win, lose or draw,” says Rudolph of Olivia Newton-John’s now-famous daughter. “But I don’t think she should win.”

The voting will be up to the viewers of the talent competition that pits rock star offspring against each other. But Rudolph believes that it should come down to the other two finalists: Crosby Loggins, the son of Kenny Loggins, or Jesse Snider, son of Dee Snider.
