SNEAK PEEK: Whitney’s Date Disaster on The City

November 16, 2009

Even City girls go on bad dates!

In an exclusive clip from Tuesday’s episode of The City, Whitney Port, who is single this season after breaking up with Jay Lyon, is telling her friend, coworker and roommate Roxy Olin about a date that turned out to be “a nightmare.”

“It wasn’t about his looks at all,” Whitney said. Instead, she took issue with the way her date talked: “He complimented my ‘bling’ and then proceeded to have a bunch of abbreviations like ‘LV’ as in Louis Vuitton.”

The worst, though, was when he asked her to split the bill for their dinner. “He says to me, ‘Why don’t we join forces on this one,’” she said. “It wasn’t even the fact that he wanted to split it — it was how he said it.”

SNEAK PEEK: Whitney & Roxy’s Fashion Week Fight

November 9, 2009

Things are heating up on The City! Maybe it’s because Whitney and Roxy have accompanied their boss Kelly Cutrone down to Miami for Fashion Week.

In an exclusive clip from Tuesday’s episode, the new roommates get into a fight while working backstage at a runway show after getting separated while out on the town the night before.

Apparently, Whitney told her friend that she would be right back but Roxy didn’t realize and thought she’d been left behind so she decided, “I’m just going to keep going out,” and was gone when Whitney returned. Roxy’s lost cell phone didn’t help.

When their boss hears the melee, Kelly comes over to put a stop to it. And she’s mad! “What the f— is going on here?” she asks. “There’s seven-hundred million f—– things that need to go on. If you guys have a problem take it out side.”

The City airs Tuesday (10:30 p.m. EST) on MTV.

SNEAK PEEK: Whitney’s New Guy Has a Girlfriend

November 2, 2009

In Tuesday’s episode of The City, Whitney and Roxy are leaving New York behind for a weekend in the Hamptons. But the drama follows! In an exclusive clip from the show, Whitney confronts her new guy Freddie after hearing that he has a girlfriend. His response? “But … I don’t know.”

Roxy then asks, “Why were you freaking out when Whitney and Harry were talking? You were like, ‘If they kiss I’m going to die.’”

“I probably wouldn’t want Harry hooking up with Whitney to tell you the truth,” he says.

“But why?” Roxy says. “If you have a girlfriend then you can’t claim on Whitney.”

SNEAK PEEK: Whitney Faces Her Ex on The City

October 26, 2009

Uh-oh! After meeting up with a new guy at a barbecue at her ex boyfriend’s place, Whitney now must face the music. In an exclusive clip from Tuesday’s episode of The City, Whitney has an awkward meeting with Jay at a restaurant.

“I hear he’s some Wall Street guy, that’s grown up with Olivia Palermo,” Jay tells her.

“I don’t even feel like I have to justify to you what he is or what he isn’t,” Whitney responds.

After he accuses Whitney of walking away from him and warns her about the new guy’s crowd, Whitney tells him, “I can handle it, Jay. If he wasn’t good to me, I wouldn’t date him.”

“I just have a good feeling that one’s going to bite you in the ass,” he says. And, given the potential for drama on The City, he may be right. The City airs Tuesday (10:30 p.m. EST) on MTV.

Tell us: What do you think of Whitney’s new guy? And is Jay right that it’s not cool to bring someone to his place?

SNEAK PEEK: Whitney’s Got a Date on The City

October 19, 2009

Even the career-oriented Whitney Port needs to take some time off. In a clip from Tuesday’s episode of The City, Whitney opts to take a night off from her job at People’s Revolution so she can attend a barbecue. “A barbecue in New York?” Kelly Cutrone asks. “That sounds suspicious.”

It turns out that Kelly has a reason to be suspicious of her protégé’s plans. Whitney’s new roommate Roxy reveals that she’s meeting a boy at the barbecue — and that it’s at her ex Jay’s place. “”You’re going to meet a new guy at your ex boyfriend’s apartment?” Kelly says. “Well, at least make sure that you tell him to go and pee in his bathroom so the new territory has been marked.”

We smell drama! (And barbecue.)

SNEAK PEEK: Whitney Shows Off Design Sketches on The City

October 12, 2009

Whitney Port may have already debuted her collection at Fashion Week, but in an exclusive clip from Monday’s episode of The City, the budding designer shows her sketches to her new roommate Roxy Olin.

“Constructive criticism,” Whit requests from her pal.

And that’s just what she gets! “Oh, I love this, Whitney. That’s really cool,” Roxy says about one of the designs. But when it comes to one of her fabric samples, Roxy says, “When I touch it, it feels like I’m touching a couch.”

Ouch!

Still, Roxy says she’s “very impressed” and sends Whitney in to show her work to a buyer at Bergdorf Goodman — behind her mentor Kelly Cutrone’s back.

Meet Whitney Port’s New Roommate

September 25, 2009

When the new season of The City premieres on Tuesday (10:30 p.m. EST) on MTV, Whitney Port is in for some changes, including a new position at People’s Revolution and a new life as a single girl. She’s also getting a new roommate, her high school friend Roxy Olin. PEOPLE spoke with Roxy about moving in with Whitney (and the cameras!), dating and her other job at her family’s business, ABC’s drama Brothers & Sisters. –Elaine Aradillas

How did you become friends with Whitney Port?
I met Whitney when we were in high school. I’ve grown up with Whitney and I danced with her for four years in high school, and our boyfriends were best friends, so we were always friends. We went our separate ways, but we reconnected instantly. We hang out everyday.

Have you ever had a roommate?
I had one for like a month and I was done with it. It was a friend of mine but we don’t talk anymore. I was nervous about being roommates [with Whitney]. But we’re pretty good roommates. I’d say our drama comes down more in the workplace than at home. (more…)

New Job, New Guy for Whitney Port on The City

September 2, 2009

A new trailer for The City proves there will be big changes for Whitney Port when the show returns to MTV on Sept. 29.

First of all, her former boss Kelly Cutrone has made Whitney an offer she can’t refuse, to come back to People’s Revolution in New York, working “five, six hours a day” while at the same time working on her own fashion line.

Meanwhile, her former nemesis coworker at Diane Von Furstenberg, Olivia Palermo, is turning her promotion into a new job at Elle, where she’s already clashing with Erin Kaplan, a PR director for the fashion mag.

Since her days on The Hills, Whitney has always been focused on a career in fashion, but there will be two big distractions for her as season 1 continues. First, a pal from Los Angeles, Roxy Olin, has arrived at the doorstep of Whitney’s new West Village apartment, looking for a place to stay and a new job.

Second, of course, is a new guy. With Jay Lyon in her past, Whitney is single and hanging out with a cute new guy named Freddy.

Tune in beginning Sept. 29, right after The Hills, to see if Whitney can pull it off.

Big Changes Coming on The Hills and The City

August 24, 2009

Expect big changes when new episodes of The Hills and The City start up again on Sept. 29, moving from Monday nights to Tuesdays. The Hills will air at 10 p.m. (EST) followed by The City at 10:30 p.m. (EST).

Liz Gateley, senior vice president of series development for MTV and executive producer of both shows, tells PEOPLE that the new day is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the switch-ups.

Most notably, Kristin Cavallari has replaced Lauren Conrad on The Hills. “Kristin has brought new life to the show,” Gateley says. “She is the same Kristin we know and love — not afraid to mix things up. Her presence has really changed every dynamic within the cast, especially with Audrina [Patridge] and Justin Bobby.”

As for newlyweds Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, Gateley says they may be taking another big step in their relationship. “Heidi and Spencer are entering some interesting new territory of considering parenthood,” she says. (more…)
