Audrina Patridge: I’m Not an Attention Seeker

May 16, 2008

Audrina Patridge has bared herself in a series of risque photos and shared her life for television audiences, but she maintains she doesn’t do it for the fame.

“I am not an attention w—-,” the 23-year-old star of The Hills tells Vegas Magazine, which hits newsstands June 1. “I’m not going to release naked photos of myself just to get attention. I’d rather get different attention and be respected.”

Clearing the air, Patridge said the first round of photos, which show her topless in several backdrops, “were never supposed to be seen.” And the second round, released shortly after the first set hit the Internet, the photographer misrepresented what he intended to do.

“He was like, ‘Let’s just do these, it’ll be like a Maxim thing,’” she said of them. But it was the public’s reaction to the photos that surprised her. “People were like, ‘You have fake boobs.’ And I’m like, ‘No I don’t, but thanks. I take that as a compliment.’”

The Hills Finale: Will Audrina Move Out?

May 12, 2008

Audrina Patridge Gets Scripted

May 12, 2008

Forget fashion! Audrina Patridge isn’t following suit and launching her own line of clothes like her Hills costars. Instead, she’s suiting up on the big screen.

Patridge has signed a deal to appear in Into the Blue 2, a sequel to the 2005 action-bikini movie starring Jessica Alba and Paul Walker, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Audrina will play a beach babe whose boyfriend caters to her every need. Like its predecessor, Blue 2 will combine surf, sand and sun with a little danger. Chris Carmack, of The O.C., and Laura Vandervoort, of Smallville, will also star.

While Heidi Montag, Whitney Port and Lauren Conrad (who played herself in Epic Movie) have launched their own clothing lines, Audrina is the first Hills star to take on an acting role in a film. –Shari Weiss

Speidi: The Next TomKat & Branjelina?

May 9, 2008

The Hills stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag — “Speidi” for short (or for tabloid headlines) — are not above seeking the spotlight, they happily admit, and consider themselves a new brand of “entertainers.”

“Anybody who wants to promote our brand, negative or positive, give me a call,” Pratt, 24, tells the Los Angeles Times.

Adds Montag, 21, expressing an awareness of their commercial potential as a couple: “Obviously we’re entertainers. We are trying to entertain in every aspect of our lives. Whether it’s on the show or in the tabloids.”

Clearly, it’s a full-time job, requiring the dissemination of inside info about themselves — as well as a social viewpoint.

“Every hour,” says Pratt. “Every different magazine, every blog texts, like, ‘We heard this, we heard this.’ Most of the time, people are just making things up, trying to get you to give a source quote. Or give one line just so they can build something. On every site, in every magazine, they need content. It’s the most competitive industry in the world, I would say, the pop culture media game.”

But it wasn’t until the second season of their popular MTV series that Speidi became a hot commodity. Then, says Pratt, “We were all of a sudden in pages next to Brad and Angelina and TomKat.”

And why not? “No celebrity does anything, really,” Pratt says. “Unless you’re a famous athlete who actually physically does something, like, how much work is reading lines from a script? We’re improv TV personalities. That’s way harder.” – Stephen M. Silverman

The Hills Season 4 Coming in August

May 6, 2008

The drama continues!

The Hills crew — Lauren Conrad, Whitney Port, Heidi Montag and Audrina Patridge — are all returning to MTV in August to kick off a 19-episode, fourth season of MTV’s hit reality show.

The current third season will wrap on Monday, May 12, beginning with a pre-show (8 p.m. ET), which will feature the cast answering questions live from the red carpet and a chance for the audience to catch up on the most recent drama with a mini-marathon of the last three episodes of the season.

In the hour-long season finale (10 p.m. ET), we’ll see if Audrina decides to move out because she feels like the outcast in the house she shares with super-close friends Lauren and Lo. Meanwhile, the saga continues, as Spencer fears losing Heidi for good when she begins work in Las Vegas.

During the live after-show, cast members will answer more questions and enjoy a performance of Usher and Young Jeezy’s “Love In This Club.”

The Hills’ Whitney Port Defends Miley Cyrus

May 2, 2008

Miley Cyrus may be too young for The Hills, but she’s got a supporter on the MTV show.

“She was probably just swept up in the moment and didn’t realize what she was getting into,” Whitney Port told PEOPLE at Thursday’s Lupus L.A. Orange Ball in Beverly Hills, of Cyrus’s controversialVanity Fair photos. “I can understand how she’s a little bit wary about it.”

Port, who has worked in fashion magazines as well as PR, calls iconic photographer Annie Leibovitz “amazing” – but admits the photos may be a little extreme.

“I think for 15-year-olds, to some people, they’re probably a little inappropriate,” Port, 23, says.

Spencer Pratt: ‘We Pray for Brody’

April 29, 2008

Is it the latest salvo–or peace offering–in the on-going feud between Hills stars Spencer Pratt and Brody Jenner? One thing is certain, Pratt is relying on the power of prayer when it comes to his former pal.

“We pray for Brody,” Spencer said of he and girlfriend Heidi Montag at the LG launch of the “Scarlet” TV series in West Hollywood on Monday. “Honestly, Brody was such a good friend to me. He hooked Heidi and I up, and I think that everything will work out eventually.”

Pratt and Jenner have been taking shots at one another for so long, they’ve become the reality-TV equivalent of the Hatfields and the McCoys, which only makes Pratt’s latest revelation all the more surprising.

“I wish that Brody and I were still best friends,” Pratt insists, adding, “I pray every day that everything works out between us.”

So could a Spencer/Brody reconciliation be in the works? “Absolutely, 100 percent.” Pratt said. “It’s just going to take time. We’re both very stubborn, in the sense where, he thinks that he’s right, I think that I’m right.”

If forgiveness is in their forseeable future, what about a Lauren/Heidi detente? “No!” laughed Montag. “I really pray for her!” –Reagan Alexander

Lauren Conrad Says No Thanks to Nice Guys

April 28, 2008

Lauren Conrad is dating - but nice guys need not apply.

“Nice guys are great to take home to your parents, but you want a guy that keeps you on your toes,” The Hills star told PEOPLE Saturday at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C.

Is that why the reality star always seems to fall for playboys like Stephen Colletti and Brody Jenner? (Not to mention bad boys like Jason Wahler.) “It’s a pattern I have,” she admitted.

Not that it’s soured her on searching for the right guy: “I am dating,” she said, shamelessly segueing into a teaser for the next season. “You will see it on The Hills.”

So if it’s not kindness, what is Conrad looking for in a potential love interest?

“Someone with a great sense of humor is the most important thing, and someone who really supports me in everything I do,” she said. “I don’t ever want to make an excuse for trying to work hard and having my own life. I love a guy that supports that and loves that.”

These days, in fact, Conrad is working harder than ever — balancing shooting the reality show with work on her clothing line and preparing for her next runway show.

“[It's] insane,” she said. “I’m really excited about it. Now that I have a little bit more education, I’ve started to introduce new fabrics and colors and really develop the brand.”

That could mean expanding her fashion empire. “Maybe shoes,” she hinted. “It’s a problem. I definitely have a closet dedicated to [shoes].” – Arnesa A. Howell
